Prayagraj Lawyers Protest at SRN Hospital, Demand Arrest of Doctor Over Alleged Misconduct
Prayagraj: Tensions over an alleged altercation between a lawyer and a doctor at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital escalated on Monday, with a group of advocates staging a protest inside the hospital before blocking traffic at Medical College Crossing.
The lawyers demanded the arrest of the doctor accused of misbehaving with advocate Sarvesh Shukla during his visit to the hospital on October 23 in connection with a patient’s treatment.
The protestors eventually withdrew the road blockade after the Additional Commissioner of Police assured them that appropriate action would be taken.
SRN Hospital is affiliated with Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayagraj.
Lawyers to Seek Update on Police Investigation
The dispute has also prompted the legal fraternity to seek progress in the criminal case.
An FIR against the doctor was registered at Kotwali police station following the lawyers’ complaint.
A delegation of advocates is scheduled to meet police officials on Tuesday to obtain an update on the investigation and the action taken so far. The lawyers are seeking clarity on the next steps in the case.
Resident Doctors Raise Workplace Safety Concerns
The incident has also drawn a response from the Resident Doctors’ Association, which has called for stronger measures to protect medical professionals from violence and intimidation.
The association has urged the authorities to ensure that such incidents are not repeated and that legal proceedings are initiated against those accused of physically assaulting doctors.
Its position reflects a parallel concern within the hospital community over the safety of healthcare workers.
High Court Bar Association Writes to Chief Minister
The Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has separately taken up the matter with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking his intervention over the reported assault on the lawyer at SRN Hospital.
In a representation signed by association president C.P. Upadhyaya and secretary Santosh Kumar Mishra, the HCBA outlined the circumstances surrounding the incident and referred to conditions at the hospital that, it said, warranted the Chief Minister’s immediate and personal attention.
The competing demands for action and protection from both sections of the legal and medical communities have brought the incident into wider focus.
The police investigation and the proposed meeting between the lawyers and officials on Tuesday are expected to provide further clarity on the case

प्रयागराज: स्वरूप रानी नेहरू (SRN) अस्पताल में एक अधिवक्ता के साथ कथित दुर्व्यवहार को लेकर सोमवार को विवाद बढ़ गया।
विरोध में वकीलों के एक समूह ने अस्पताल परिसर में प्रदर्शन किया और बाद में मेडिकल कॉलेज चौराहे पर सड़क जाम कर दिया। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने संबंधित डॉक्टर के खिलाफ गिरफ्तारी समेत कड़ी कार्रवाई की मांग की।
वकीलों का आरोप है कि 23 अक्टूबर को मरीज के इलाज के सिलसिले में अस्पताल पहुंचे अधिवक्ता सर्वेश शुक्ला के साथ एक डॉक्टर ने दुर्व्यवहार किया था।
सोमवार को हुए विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान यातायात भी प्रभावित हुआ। हालांकि, अपर पुलिस आयुक्त के आवश्यक कार्रवाई के आश्वासन के बाद वकीलों ने सड़क से अपना धरना समाप्त कर दिया।
SRN अस्पताल, प्रयागराज स्थित मोतीलाल नेहरू मेडिकल कॉलेज से संबद्ध है।
पुलिस से जांच की प्रगति जानने के लिए मिलेंगे वकील
मामले में दर्ज प्राथमिकी की जांच को लेकर वकीलों ने पुलिस से जवाब मांगा है। अधिवक्ता की शिकायत पर संबंधित डॉक्टर के खिलाफ कोतवाली थाने में एफआईआर दर्ज कराई गई थी।
वकीलों का एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल मंगलवार को पुलिस अधिकारियों से मुलाकात करेगा। इस दौरान प्राथमिकी की जांच कहां तक पहुंची है और अब तक क्या कार्रवाई हुई है, इसकी जानकारी लेने की योजना है।
डॉक्टरों ने भी उठाया सुरक्षा का मुद्दा
घटना के बाद रेजिडेंट डॉक्टरों के संगठन ने चिकित्सा कर्मियों की सुरक्षा को लेकर चिंता जताई है। संगठन ने अस्पतालों में डॉक्टरों के साथ हिंसा और शारीरिक हमले की घटनाओं को रोकने के लिए प्रभावी कदम उठाने की मांग की है।
रेजिडेंट डॉक्टरों की मांग है कि चिकित्सकों पर कथित रूप से हमला करने वालों के खिलाफ कानून के तहत कार्रवाई की जाए और भविष्य में ऐसी घटनाओं की पुनरावृत्ति रोकने के लिए सुरक्षा व्यवस्था मजबूत की जाए।
इस प्रकार, घटना को लेकर जहां वकील अपने साथी के साथ कथित दुर्व्यवहार पर कार्रवाई चाहते हैं, वहीं डॉक्टरों का संगठन चिकित्सा कर्मियों की सुरक्षा को प्राथमिकता देने की मांग कर रहा है।
हाईकोर्ट बार एसोसिएशन ने मुख्यमंत्री को भेजा पत्र
इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट बार एसोसिएशन (HCBA) ने भी इस मामले में हस्तक्षेप की मांग करते हुए उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ को ज्ञापन भेजा है। संगठन ने SRN अस्पताल में अधिवक्ता के साथ कथित मारपीट की घटना पर मुख्यमंत्री का ध्यान आकर्षित किया है।
बार एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष सी.पी. उपाध्याय और सचिव संतोष कुमार मिश्रा के हस्ताक्षर वाले ज्ञापन में घटना का विवरण देने के साथ अस्पताल में व्याप्त परिस्थितियों का भी उल्लेख किया गया है। एसोसिएशन का कहना है कि इन परिस्थितियों पर मुख्यमंत्री को तत्काल और व्यक्तिगत रूप से ध्यान देने की जरूरत है।
वकीलों और डॉक्टरों, दोनों पक्षों की ओर से सुरक्षा और कार्रवाई की मांग उठने के बाद यह मामला व्यापक चर्चा का विषय बन गया है। मंगलवार को पुलिस अधिकारियों के साथ प्रस्तावित बैठक से जांच की स्थिति और आगे की कार्रवाई को लेकर अधिक जानकारी मिलने की उम्मीद है।
