In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday strongly reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and taking decisive action against those who perpetrate and support such acts.

The Prime Minister addressed the issue shortly after high-level discussions with Angolan President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenço, underscoring the importance of a united global front against terror networks.

PM Modi, while extending solidarity with the victims of the attack, emphasized that India will not tolerate any form of terrorism and will continue to respond firmly to any threat against its sovereignty and citizens.

He noted that terrorism remains one of the biggest challenges to international peace and security, and stressed the need for coordinated efforts among nations to dismantle terror infrastructure and deny safe havens to terrorists.

During his meeting with the Angolan President, Modi also highlighted the growing partnership between India and Angola, referring to both countries as important contributors to the Global South.

He pointed out that India and Angola share a common vision for development and prosperity, and are actively working together in areas of mutual interest such as energy, agriculture, healthcare, and education.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir as small arms fire exchanges between Indian and Pakistani forces continued for the ninth consecutive day on Friday night.

According to official sources, the latest incidents of cross-border firing were reported from multiple sectors, including Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor.

A defence spokesperson confirmed that Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked firing on the night of May 2nd and 3rd. Indian forces, maintaining a state of high alert, responded promptly and in proportion to the aggression.

The spokesperson further added that while the situation remains tense, no casualties have been reported on either side as of now.

These ongoing skirmishes are part of a worrying pattern of repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Indian security forces continue to maintain strict vigilance and are prepared to respond effectively to any further provocations.

Military officials have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians living in the border areas, many of whom have been affected by the prolonged period of unrest.

As diplomatic efforts continue on various fronts, India remains focused on maintaining peace while upholding its territorial integrity and national security interests.

The government has called on the international community to take note of the consistent support extended to terrorist elements by certain states and to take collective action to prevent the spread of extremism.
