PM Modi Distributes 51,000 Appointment Letters at 19th Rozgar Mela, Highlights India’s Growing Global Partnerships
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela on Saturday, a nationwide employment initiative aimed at expanding job opportunities for young Indians.
During the programme, more than 51,000 newly recruited candidates received appointment letters for positions across various Union Ministries, government departments and public sector undertakings.
The Rozgar Mela has become a major part of the Centre’s employment outreach strategy. Since the launch of the initiative, nearly 12 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through 18 previous editions organised across different parts of the country.
The latest edition was conducted simultaneously at 47 locations nationwide, reflecting the government’s push to accelerate recruitment in the public sector and connect youth with employment opportunities.
Rozgar Melas, commonly referred to as job fairs, are designed to bring employers and job seekers onto a single platform.
These events help streamline the recruitment process by allowing candidates to directly interact with recruiters, submit applications and understand available career opportunities.
The initiative also serves as a bridge between organisations looking for talent and individuals searching for stable employment.
Typically organised at large venues, these job fairs feature separate booths for participating organisations and departments.
Each stall displays recruitment-related information, company profiles and brochures, while officials engage with applicants and answer queries.
Many employers also use banners and display boards to attract candidates and provide detailed insights into job roles and eligibility criteria.
The scale of Rozgar Melas often varies depending on the location and participating organisations.
Some events host only a handful of employers, while others see participation from nearly 100 companies and departments.
Regardless of size, these employment drives generally witness enthusiastic participation from job seekers, with long queues of candidates eager to interact with recruiters and explore career openings.
Addressing newly appointed candidates during the event, Prime Minister Modi said that India’s youth are playing a decisive role in driving the country toward the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”.
He described the Rozgar Mela as a reflection of the government’s commitment to empowering the nation’s young population through meaningful employment opportunities.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the importance of India’s growing international collaborations and how they are expected to create future employment avenues for Indian youth.
Referring to his recent visits abroad, he said discussions were held with the Netherlands on semiconductors, water management, agriculture and advanced manufacturing technologies.
He further noted that talks with Sweden focused heavily on artificial intelligence and digital innovation, while Norway expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in green technology and maritime sectors.
According to Modi, strategic agreements signed with the UAE in areas such as energy, technology and long-term partnerships would also open new opportunities for skilled Indian professionals.
Speaking about Italy, the Prime Minister said both countries had reached important understandings in sectors including defence, critical minerals, science and technology.
He emphasised that these collaborations are not limited to diplomatic ties alone but are expected to directly benefit India’s younger generation through employment generation, technological advancement and industrial growth.
Highlighting India’s emergence as a trusted global manufacturing and supply-chain partner, Modi pointed to the partnership between Dutch semiconductor giant ASML and India’s Tata Group.
Calling the agreement “rare and significant,” he said the collaboration would create large-scale employment opportunities in India while giving the country access to next-generation semiconductor technologies.
He added that technology partnerships with countries such as Sweden and the UAE, especially in areas like AI and supercomputing, would strengthen India’s technological capabilities and generate fresh career opportunities for the country’s youth in emerging sectors.
Candidates selected under the recruitment drive will join several key ministries and departments of the Government of India.
These include the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Department of Higher Education, among others.
The Rozgar Mela initiative largely targets individuals in the 18 to 35 age group.
Recruitment opportunities are open to candidates with a wide range of educational qualifications, including Class 8, 10 and 12 pass-outs, ITI-certified candidates, diploma holders and graduates.
Individuals certified under the National Skills Qualifications Framework standards are also eligible to participate in the employment programme.
To ensure wider participation, awareness campaigns for the Rozgar Mela are conducted through multiple channels.
These include newspaper advertisements, bulk SMS outreach, social media promotions and awareness workshops organised in colleges and universities around the districts hosting the event.
The government believes such outreach efforts are helping connect more young Indians with employment opportunities and career guidance.
