Rajasthan Teen’s Death Sparks Investigation After Family Alleges Pressure for Religious Conversion

A 17-year-old student allegedly died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Tonk district, triggering a police investigation after his family accused a girl, who was reportedly in a relationship with him, of pressuring him to convert his religion.

According to police officials, preliminary findings suggest the teenager’s death may be connected to his personal relationship.

After receiving a complaint from the family, investigators began probing the matter from several angles to determine the circumstances that may have led to the incident.

Tonk Kotwali police station officer Bhanwar Lal Vaishnav said the boy went to his room around 11 pm on Wednesday.

When he failed to open the door the following morning, worried family members forced it open and discovered him dead inside.

Police said they are closely examining the teenager’s mobile phone and other digital devices as part of the investigation.

Officials are reviewing call recordings, chat histories, and electronic communications to reconstruct the sequence of events that occurred before his death.

Authorities confirmed that an FIR has been registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relates to abetment of suicide.

Police stated that further legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators also said allegations involving harassment, intimidation,n and claims of pressure related to religious conversion are being carefully verified with the help of available evidence and digital records.
