Reward Trip Turns Fatal as Four Delhi Tech Professionals Die in Rampur Road Crash

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh): A recreational trip organised as a reward for professional achievements ended in heartbreak after four young information technology professionals from Delhi lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district early on Saturday.

Three of their colleagues suffered serious injuries when the car they were travelling in slammed into a stationary truck parked along the roadside.

According to Rampur Superintendent of Police Somendra Meena, investigators are still trying to establish the precise cause of the accident.

Preliminary findings suggest poor visibility may have contributed to the collision.

Police teams have begun examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The deceased were identified as Abhishek Agnihotri (28), Kartik Rajput (32), Neeraj Singh (31), and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar (27), all residents of Delhi.

Three others—Kamal, Vishal, and Jatin—were critically injured.

They were initially treated at a nearby Community Health Centre before being shifted to the District Hospital in Rampur for specialised medical care.

Company-Sponsored Vacation Ends in Disaster

Police said all 12 members of the group were associated with a private information technology company in Delhi, either as full-time employees or business-to-business (B2B) associates.

After meeting their corporate performance targets, the company rewarded them with a leisure trip to Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.

The group left Delhi in two separate cars on Friday night. Seven people travelled in one vehicle while the remaining five occupied another.

During the journey, one of the cars developed a punctured tyre approximately one kilometre before the accident site.

After replacing the damaged tyre, the occupants resumed their journey.

One of the travellers, Akhilesh Singh, later informed police that he had shifted from the vehicle that eventually met with the accident to the second car while the tyre was being replaced.

When the two vehicles became separated and the first car failed to arrive, repeated phone calls revealed that it had met with a serious accident.

Villagers Rushed to Rescue Victims

The impact of the collision was so severe that residents rushed to the scene after hearing a loud crash.

With the help of passers-by, they pulled the trapped occupants out of the mangled vehicle and transported them to the nearest Community Health Centre.

Doctors declared Abhishek Agnihotri, Kartik Rajput, and Neeraj Singh dead on arrival. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who had suffered life-threatening injuries, later succumbed during treatment.

The three injured survivors continue to receive medical attention.

A Brother’s Last Conversation Becomes a Lifelong Memory

The tragedy has left Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s family shattered. His elder brother, Saddam Hussain (34), said the family originally belongs to Arrah in Bihar and currently lives in a rented house in Delhi’s Azadpur locality.

Gulbuddin had been employed as a network engineer with an internet service provider in Gurugram for the past five years after completing his computer science education in Haryana’s Sonipat.

Recalling their final moments together, Hussain said his younger brother left home around 9 pm on Friday and casually asked him for some money to purchase a Delhi Metro ticket.

“He took a ₹100 note, thanked both me and my wife, and smiled before leaving.

None of us imagined that those would be his final words,” Hussain said with emotion.

He added that news of the accident reached the family around 6.30 am through one of Gulbuddin’s friends.

“I Wish I Had Stopped Him,” Says Grieving Brother

Overcome with grief, Hussain said he had tried to persuade his brother to cancel the trip because of heavy monsoon conditions and reports of landslides in Uttarakhand.

“I told him not to travel during the rainy season. He assured me they were heading to a place that wasn’t in the mountains and would be safe.

I keep thinking that if I had insisted more strongly, perhaps my brother would still be alive today,” he said.

रामपुर (उत्तर प्रदेश): कंपनी की ओर से उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन के पुरस्कार स्वरूप आयोजित एक सैर-सपाटे की यात्रा उस समय भीषण त्रासदी में बदल गई, जब दिल्ली के चार युवा आईटी पेशेवरों की उत्तर प्रदेश के रामपुर जिले में सड़क दुर्घटना में मौत हो गई।

शनिवार तड़के उनकी कार सड़क किनारे खड़े एक ट्रक से जा टकराई। हादसे में तीन अन्य साथी गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए, जिनका उपचार जारी है।

रामपुर के पुलिस अधीक्षक सोमेंद्र मीणा ने बताया कि दुर्घटना के वास्तविक कारणों की जांच की जा रही है। शुरुआती आशंका है कि सड़क पर पर्याप्त रोशनी नहीं होने के कारण चालक को सामने खड़ा वाहन समय रहते दिखाई नहीं दिया।

आसपास लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज खंगाली जा रही है ताकि दुर्घटना की पूरी परिस्थितियों का पता लगाया जा सके।

मृतकों की पहचान अभिषेक अग्निहोत्री (28), कार्तिक राजपूत (32), नीरज सिंह (31) और गुलबुद्दीन हिकमतयार (27) के रूप में हुई है।

सभी दिल्ली के निवासी थे। हादसे में कमल, विशाल और जतिन गंभीर रूप से घायल हुए। प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद उन्हें जिला अस्पताल, रामपुर रेफर किया गया, जहां उनका इलाज जारी है।

कंपनी की ओर से मिली थी कॉर्बेट घूमने की सौगात

पुलिस के अनुसार, यात्रा पर निकले सभी 12 लोग दिल्ली की एक निजी आईटी कंपनी से जुड़े थे। इनमें कुछ नियमित कर्मचारी थे, जबकि कुछ बिजनेस-टू-बिजनेस (बी2बी) सहयोगी के रूप में कार्यरत थे।

कंपनी ने अपने निर्धारित लक्ष्य पूरे करने पर सभी को उत्तराखंड स्थित जिम कॉर्बेट नेशनल पार्क घूमने का पुरस्कार दिया था।

शुक्रवार रात पूरा दल दो कारों से दिल्ली से रवाना हुआ। एक वाहन में सात और दूसरे में पांच लोग सवार थे।

रास्ते में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुई कार का एक टायर घटनास्थल से करीब एक किलोमीटर पहले पंचर हो गया। टायर बदलने के बाद सभी ने दोबारा यात्रा शुरू कर दी।

समूह के सदस्य अखिलेश सिंह ने पुलिस को बताया कि टायर बदलने के दौरान वह दुर्घटनाग्रस्त कार से उतरकर दूसरी कार में बैठ गए थे।

कुछ देर बाद जब आगे चल रही कार काफी देर तक नहीं पहुंची तो साथियों ने फोन किया। तभी पता चला कि वह रास्ते में दुर्घटना का शिकार हो चुकी है।

जोरदार टक्कर की आवाज सुनकर दौड़े ग्रामीण

हादसा इतना भीषण था कि टक्कर की तेज आवाज सुनकर आसपास के ग्रामीण मौके पर पहुंच गए। स्थानीय लोगों ने क्षतिग्रस्त कार में फंसे यात्रियों को बाहर निकाला और तुरंत सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र पहुंचाया।

डॉक्टरों ने अभिषेक अग्निहोत्री, कार्तिक राजपूत और नीरज सिंह को मृत घोषित कर दिया। गंभीर रूप से घायल गुलबुद्दीन हिकमतयार ने उपचार के दौरान दम तोड़ दिया। तीनों घायल साथियों का इलाज अभी जारी है।

100 रुपये और एक मुस्कान… भाई से आखिरी मुलाकात बन गई याद

गुलबुद्दीन हिकमतयार के बड़े भाई सद्दाम हुसैन ने बताया कि उनका परिवार मूल रूप से बिहार के आरा का रहने वाला है और वर्तमान में दिल्ली के आजादपुर इलाके में किराए के मकान में रहता है।

गुलबुद्दीन पिछले पांच वर्षों से गुरुग्राम की एक इंटरनेट सेवा प्रदाता कंपनी में नेटवर्क इंजीनियर के रूप में कार्यरत थे। उन्होंने हरियाणा के सोनीपत से कंप्यूटर साइंस की पढ़ाई पूरी की थी।

सद्दाम ने भावुक होकर बताया कि शुक्रवार रात करीब नौ बजे घर से निकलने से पहले उनके भाई ने मेट्रो का टिकट खरीदने के लिए उनसे कुछ पैसे मांगे थे।

उन्होंने कहा, “मैंने उसे 100 रुपये दिए। उसने मुझे और मेरी पत्नी को धन्यवाद कहा, मुस्कुराया और चला गया। हमें क्या पता था कि यही उसकी आखिरी विदाई होगी।”

परिवार को शनिवार सुबह लगभग साढ़े छह बजे उसके एक मित्र के जरिए हादसे की जानकारी मिली।

“काश मैंने उसे जाने से रोक लिया होता….”

गम में डूबे सद्दाम ने बताया कि उन्होंने बारिश के मौसम और उत्तराखंड में भूस्खलन की खबरों का हवाला देते हुए अपने भाई को यात्रा टालने की सलाह दी थी।

उन्होंने कहा, “मैंने उसे समझाया था कि इस मौसम में सफर ठीक नहीं है। उसने भरोसा दिलाया कि वे ऐसी जगह जा रहे हैं जहां पहाड़ी रास्तों का खतरा नहीं है।

आज बार-बार यही लगता है कि अगर मैं उसे ज़िद करके रोक लेता, तो शायद मेरा भाई आज हमारे बीच होता।”
