Saurabh Bharadwaj Flags Alleged ₹22,000-Crore Rice Scheme in Delhi, Seeks Scrutiny

Bharadwaj has calculated the potential value of the alleged arrangement at approximately ₹143 crore a week.
Based on three years, he has estimated the overall figure at around ₹22,000 crore.
The former minister raised the allegations through a post on X and subsequently elaborated on them in a video.
He portrayed the alleged arrangement as an attempt to exploit the difference between the subsidised price at which food grain could be procured and the commercial value at which it could allegedly be disposed of.
The figures cited by Bharadwaj are his own estimates and constitute allegations that have not been independently established in the material available.
Sirsa’s department comes under scrutiny
Bharadwaj has specifically referred to the Delhi government’s Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, headed by Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Bharadwaj has questioned why such a large quantity was sought and what safeguards were in place to ensure that subsidised food grain actually reached eligible residents of Delhi.

AAP leader estimates ₹70 crore weekly commission
Bharadwaj has separately put forward another calculation concerning the alleged financial benefit to the Assam-based corporation.
He claims the entity could have received roughly ₹70 crore a week as commission, which, according to his calculation, would amount to nearly ₹11,000 crore over three years.
The two figures cited by the AAP leader relate to different aspects of his allegation and have not been independently verified.
Vigilance angle raised
The former Delhi minister has also claimed that the alleged irregularity was detected by a vigilance arm of the Central government.
