STF Seizes 439 kg of Ganja Hidden Beneath Crates in Prayagraj-Bound Truck, One Smuggler Arrested
Massive Cannabis Consignment Worth More Than A Crore Seized During STF Operation
In a breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested an alleged drug smuggler late Tuesday night near Pehalwan Dhaba in the Mirzapur district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the STF intercepted a truck carrying a huge consignment of cannabis concealed beneath crates.
The accused has been identified as Amarjeet Yadav, a resident of Jalalpur village under the Haruwa police station area of Varanasi district.
According to investigators, the truck was transporting 439 kilograms of ganja from Odisha to Prayagraj. Police estimate the seized narcotics to have an international market value of nearly ₹1.10 crore.
Truck Intercepted After Joint Surveillance
Officials said the STF’s Prayagraj unit received credible information that a large quantity of cannabis was being transported from Odisha towards Prayagraj.
Based on the intelligence, the STF coordinated with the Mirzapur Police and launched a joint surveillance operation.
The truck was eventually stopped near Pachpedwa-Kasihwa Tiraha. During a thorough search, officers discovered that plastic crates had been placed inside the vehicle to disguise the illegal consignment.
Beneath those crates, police recovered 439 kilograms of cannabis, leading to the immediate arrest of the driver.
Interrogation Reveals Alleged Smuggling Network
During preliminary questioning, Amarjeet Yadav allegedly admitted that he had been involved in transporting narcotics for a long time.
He told investigators that he was delivering the cannabis to Prayagraj on the instructions of Abhishek Shukla, alias Guruji, a resident of Holagarh in Prayagraj.
Police said further investigations are underway to identify other members of the alleged smuggling network and determine the intended recipients of the seized consignment.
Authorities are also trying to trace the financial and logistical links connected with the racket.

उत्तर प्रदेश स्पेशल टास्क फोर्स (एसटीएफ) ने मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी के खिलाफ बड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए मंगलवार देर रात मिर्जापुर जिले में पहलवान ढाबा के पास एक कथित तस्कर को गिरफ्तार किया।
खुफिया सूचना के आधार पर की गई इस कार्रवाई में एक ट्रक से भारी मात्रा में गांजा बरामद किया गया, जिसे चालाकी से प्लास्टिक के क्रेटों के नीचे छिपाकर ले जाया जा रहा था।
गिरफ्तार आरोपी की पहचान अमरजीत यादव के रूप में हुई है। वह वाराणसी जिले के हरूआ थाना क्षेत्र के जलालपुर गांव का निवासी है।
जांच अधिकारियों के अनुसार, ट्रक में ओडिशा से प्रयागराज लाई जा रही 439 किलोग्राम गांजे की खेप बरामद हुई है। पुलिस ने इसकी अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजार में अनुमानित कीमत करीब 1.10 करोड़ रुपये बताई है।
संयुक्त अभियान के दौरान ट्रक को रोककर की गई तलाशी
एसटीएफ की प्रयागराज इकाई को सूचना मिली थी कि ओडिशा से गांजे की एक बड़ी खेप प्रयागराज लाई जा रही है। सूचना मिलने के बाद एसटीएफ ने मिर्जापुर पुलिस के साथ मिलकर संयुक्त अभियान चलाया और संदिग्ध वाहन पर निगरानी शुरू कर दी।
कार्रवाई के दौरान पचपेड़वा-कसिहवा तिराहे के पास ट्रक को रोककर उसकी तलाशी ली गई। जांच में सामने आया कि वाहन में ऊपर प्लास्टिक के क्रेट रखे गए थे, जबकि उनके नीचे गांजे की बोरियां छिपाई गई थीं।
तलाशी के दौरान पुलिस ने 439 किलोग्राम गांजा बरामद किया और मौके से चालक अमरजीत यादव को गिरफ्तार कर लिया।
पूछताछ में तस्करी से जुड़े अहम खुलासे
प्रारंभिक पूछताछ में आरोपी ने कथित तौर पर स्वीकार किया कि वह लंबे समय से मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी से जुड़ा हुआ है। उसने पुलिस को बताया कि वह प्रयागराज के होलागढ़ निवासी अभिषेक शुक्ला उर्फ ‘गुरुजी’ के कहने पर ओडिशा से गांजे की खेप लेकर प्रयागराज जा रहा था।
पुलिस अब इस पूरे नेटवर्क की जांच में जुटी है। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि इस तस्करी गिरोह से जुड़े अन्य लोगों की पहचान की जा रही है और यह पता लगाया जा रहा है कि बरामद गांजे की खेप किसे पहुंचाई जानी थी। मामले में आगे की जांच जारी है।
