A confrontation involving Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma and a young man during a road-site visit has triggered a political clash, with AAP seeking action and the BJP offering its account of what happened.

NEW DELHI: A routine inspection of road work in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar has snowballed into a political controversy after footage from the site appeared on social media, showing Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma in a confrontation with a young man.

The short video has become the centre of a widening dispute between the ruling BJP and the opposition Aam Aadmi Party. The footage appears to capture Verma striking the man while several people are present at the spot.

The incident reportedly took place while the minister was examining ongoing road work in the area. The young man was recording the proceedings on his mobile phone when the confrontation occurred.

AAP has seized on the episode to accuse the Delhi government of failing to tolerate criticism.

The party has called for action against Verma and said it would hold a demonstration in Tilak Nagar over the incident.

The controversy also drew a sharp response from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to the video, Gandhi alleged that the incident reflected an attitude in which those questioning people in authority were being subjected to intimidation rather than receiving answers.

Gandhi also connected the episode with his broader criticism of the BJP on electoral and democratic issues, arguing that those holding public office must remain accountable to citizens.

AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal separately demanded action against Verma.

He announced that he would visit Tilak Nagar to look at the road that had become part of the controversy.

The person involved in the confrontation has also sought action against the minister.

Different claims have emerged regarding the police complaint and registration of an FIR, with AAP leaders maintaining that a complaint was submitted while questions remained over the formal status of the case.

BJP gives a different account

The Delhi BJP has expressed regret over the episode but disputed the narrative being presented by its political opponents.

BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that the young man involved had previously faced arrest in a case relating to an alleged assault on an MCD employee.

The allegation has been made by the BJP and would need to be considered separately from the events captured in the viral footage.

Kapoor also accused AAP MLA Jarnail Singh of arriving at the inspection site with a group of supporters and alleged that the MLA’s conduct contributed to the confrontation.

The BJP’s account therefore places the incident in the context of an argument that allegedly developed at the inspection site, while AAP has focused on the minister’s conduct toward the young man.

Verma has also offered his version of events, disputing the suggestion that the confrontation was solely about the man recording the inspection.

The minister alleged that offensive remarks concerning his family had been made during the exchange, while also indicating that the episode should not have occurred.

With competing accounts now emerging, the video has established only part of the sequence. The circumstances immediately preceding the physical confrontation remain a matter of dispute between the two political camps.

What began as an inspection of road construction has consequently developed into another public confrontation between the BJP and AAP, with the conduct of a minister, the quality of road work and the response of the police all becoming subjects of political debate.

तिलक नगर में सड़क निरीक्षण के दौरान विवाद, परवेश वर्मा के वीडियो पर सियासी घमासान

 सड़क निर्माण की जांच के दौरान दिल्ली के PWD मंत्री परवेश वर्मा और एक युवक के बीच हुई झड़प का वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर सामने आने के बाद BJP और AAP आमने-सामने; कार्रवाई को लेकर बढ़ा दबाव।

नई दिल्ली: पश्चिमी दिल्ली के तिलक नगर में सड़क निर्माण की स्थिति देखने पहुंचे दिल्ली के लोक निर्माण विभाग (PWD) मंत्री परवेश वर्मा का दौरा राजनीतिक विवाद में बदल गया। मौके से सामने आए एक वीडियो में मंत्री एक युवक के साथ टकराव के दौरान उसे थप्पड़ मारते हुए दिखाई देते हैं।

वीडियो सामने आने के बाद आम आदमी पार्टी ने इसे मुद्दा बनाते हुए भाजपा सरकार पर हमला बोला है। पार्टी ने मंत्री के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की और तिलक नगर में विरोध प्रदर्शन करने की घोषणा की।

बताया जा रहा है कि घटना उस समय हुई जब सड़क से जुड़े कार्यों का जायजा लिया जा रहा था। मौके पर मौजूद युवक अपने मोबाइल फोन से निरीक्षण की रिकॉर्डिंग कर रहा था। इसी दौरान दोनों के बीच विवाद बढ़ गया और वीडियो में हाथापाई जैसी स्थिति दिखाई देती है।

मामले ने कांग्रेस को भी भाजपा पर हमला करने का मौका दिया। कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने घटना को लेकर सरकार पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि जनप्रतिनिधियों को सवाल पूछने वाले नागरिकों के प्रति जवाबदेह होना चाहिए।

राहुल गांधी ने इस घटना को अपने व्यापक राजनीतिक आरोपों से भी जोड़ा और कहा कि सत्ता में बैठे लोगों के लिए जनता के सवालों का जवाब देना लोकतांत्रिक जिम्मेदारी है।

AAP के राष्ट्रीय संयोजक और दिल्ली के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने भी परवेश वर्मा के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की। उन्होंने तिलक नगर पहुंचकर विवादित सड़क का निरीक्षण करने की बात कही।

घटना में कथित तौर पर थप्पड़ खाए युवक की ओर से भी कार्रवाई की मांग की गई है। पुलिस शिकायत और FIR को लेकर हालांकि अलग-अलग दावे सामने आए हैं। AAP नेताओं का कहना है कि शिकायत दी गई, जबकि मामले की औपचारिक कानूनी स्थिति को लेकर स्थिति स्पष्ट करने की जरूरत है।

BJP ने रखा अपना पक्ष

दिल्ली भाजपा ने घटना को लेकर खेद जताया, लेकिन विपक्ष द्वारा पेश किए जा रहे घटनाक्रम पर सवाल उठाए।

भाजपा के मीडिया प्रमुख प्रवीण शंकर कपूर ने दावा किया कि विवाद में शामिल युवक का पहले भी एक MCD कर्मचारी से कथित मारपीट के मामले में नाम आया था और उसे गिरफ्तार किया गया था। यह भाजपा की ओर से लगाया गया आरोप है।

कपूर ने AAP विधायक जरनैल सिंह पर भी आरोप लगाया कि वह बड़ी संख्या में समर्थकों के साथ निरीक्षण स्थल पर पहुंचे थे। भाजपा का कहना है कि मौके पर विधायक के व्यवहार से तनाव बढ़ा और इसके बाद स्थिति विवाद में बदल गई।

इस मामले में भाजपा और AAP की ओर से घटनाक्रम की अलग-अलग तस्वीरें पेश की जा रही हैं। जहां AAP का जोर मंत्री के कथित व्यवहार पर है, वहीं भाजपा घटना से पहले मौके पर बने तनाव और कथित उकसावे को विवाद का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा बता रही है।

परवेश वर्मा ने भी अपने पक्ष में कहा है कि घटना को केवल युवक के वीडियो बनाने से जोड़कर नहीं देखा जाना चाहिए। मंत्री का आरोप है कि बातचीत के दौरान उनके परिवार को लेकर आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी की गई थी। हालांकि उन्होंने यह भी संकेत दिया कि घटनास्थल पर जो कुछ हुआ, वह नहीं होना चाहिए था।

वायरल वीडियो घटना के एक हिस्से को जरूर सामने लाता है, लेकिन उससे पहले क्या बातचीत हुई और विवाद किस तरह बढ़ा, इस पर दोनों पक्षों के दावे अलग हैं।
