NEW DELHI: In a strong display of national unity, political parties across the spectrum on Thursday came together to back the government’s efforts in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to pursue the attackers “to the ends of the Earth,” leaders from various parties expressed full support for decisive action against terrorism.

The message from the all-party meeting was clear: “Hum sab saath hain, action lo” (We stand united, take action).

This sentiment echoed strongly throughout the meeting, where leaders set aside political differences to collectively condemn the April 22 attack on tourists in Pahalgam, widely believed to be orchestrated by Pakistan-based terror groups.

According to sources, the government candidly acknowledged certain security and intelligence lapses during the meeting, but also shared critical information and its proposed plan of action.

The show of unity was not only symbolic but strategic, as opposition leaders offered constructive suggestions without raising objections, reinforcing the message of solidarity.

The all-party meeting followed a session of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held on Wednesday under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

In that session, senior officials and ministers charted the initial course of response to the attack. At Thursday’s meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah briefed political leaders in detail on the findings and planned steps.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, addressed the media after the meeting, stating, “We all condemn the terror attack.

We fully support any and all measures taken against terrorism.” Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge echoed this sentiment, adding that while the government had their backing, he believed the Prime Minister should have personally attended the meeting, as the final decisions rest with him.

Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay also confirmed that the issue of security failures was discussed openly. “We extended our full support to the government’s proposed anti-terror measures,” he said.

This unified political stance sends a clear message both domestically and internationally: India stands together in the face of terror, and is prepared to take decisive action to safeguard its people and sovereignty.
