UP: Class 12 Student Killed Over Rs 15,000 Dispute, Body Found in Drain
Police arrest four in Prayagraj case; investigators say old dispute over borrowed money preceded the fatal attack.

PRAYAGRAJ (Hanumanganj): A 17-year-old Class 12 student was allegedly killed by a group of acquaintances following a dispute over Rs 15,000, with his body later found in a drain in the Hanumanganj area, police said.
The victim, identified as Shantanu Dubey, lived in Purani Jhunsi Kohna and was the son of a priest, Deepak Dubey.
According to police, Shantanu left his home on a scooter at around 9.15 pm on Monday after receiving a phone call from his friend Ujjwal Sengupta.
When he failed to return home for several hours, his family began looking for him. His mobile phone was also found switched off.
The search took a tragic turn the following morning when Shantanu’s body was discovered in the Haveliya drain.
Senior police officers, including DCP City Sagar Jain and ACP Jhunsi Arun Parashar, reached the spot along with forensic personnel. Investigators examined the scene and collected evidence.
Police said their preliminary investigation points to a financial dispute as the possible trigger for the killing.
Shantanu had allegedly lent Rs 15,000 to Ujjwal, and tensions had been building after repeated demands for repayment.
The police have registered a case against Ujjwal Sengupta, Yash Gupta, Divyansh Nishad, Chhotu Pasi, Chhotu Yadav alias Anda and other unidentified persons based on the family’s complaint.
Four accused have been arrested, while police are searching for Chhotu Pasi, who is reportedly absconding.
Investigators said the dispute had been continuing for nearly three months. Shantanu had reportedly borrowed the money from his father before lending it to Ujjwal.
When the money was not returned, the issue escalated. Police also said that Ujjwal had allegedly assaulted Shantanu’s father around two-and-a-half months ago when he questioned him about the outstanding amount.
According to the police investigation, Ujjwal and his associates allegedly called Shantanu on Monday night.
The initial intention, investigators believe, may have been to intimidate or assault him. However, the confrontation allegedly turned violent, with the accused attacking the teenager with a knife.
He suffered multiple injuries to the head and died at the scene, police said.
The attackers allegedly carried his body to the drain and abandoned it there before fleeing. Forensic personnel reportedly recovered bloodstains from the scene as well as a severed portion of Shantanu’s thumb.
Investigators suspect that the injury may have occurred when the teenager tried to defend himself during the knife attack.
Police said Ujjwal was known to Shantanu and the two had been friends for some time. Investigators are also examining allegations regarding Ujjwal’s lifestyle and substance use as part of the probe.
The body was handed over to the family on Tuesday evening after the post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway to establish the precise sequence of events and the role of each accused.
Mother Had Died Earlier
Shantanu’s family has suffered another devastating loss in recent years. His mother, Rekha Devi, died in an accident several years ago.
She and Deepak Dubey had two sons, Shantanu and Vimalsh. Deepak later remarried, but the couple had no children.
Shantanu was a Class 12 student at MS Convent School. His death has left his father, younger brother Vimalsh, and other family members devastated.

प्रयागराज: (हनुमानगंज) उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रयागराज में 17 वर्षीय इंटरमीडिएट छात्र की कथित तौर पर उसके परिचितों ने चाकू से हमला कर हत्या कर दी।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, वारदात के पीछे 15 हजार रुपये के लेनदेन को लेकर चल रहा विवाद सामने आया है। हत्या के बाद छात्र का शव हवेलिया नाले में फेंक दिया गया था।
मृतक की पहचान पुरानी झूंसी कोहना निवासी शांतनु दुबे के रूप में हुई है। वह तीर्थ पुरोहित दीपक दुबे का बेटा था। पुलिस के अनुसार, सोमवार रात करीब सवा नौ बजे दोस्त उज्ज्वल सेनगुप्ता का फोन आने के बाद शांतनु स्कूटी लेकर घर से निकला था।
देर रात तक वापस नहीं आने पर परिवार ने उसकी तलाश शुरू की, लेकिन उसका मोबाइल फोन बंद मिला।
मंगलवार सुबह हवेलिया नाले में एक युवक का शव मिलने की सूचना पर परिजन मौके पर पहुंचे। शव की पहचान शांतनु के रूप में होने के बाद परिवार में कोहराम मच गया।
सूचना मिलते ही डीसीपी नगर सागर जैन और एसीपी झूंसी अरुण पराशर पुलिस तथा फॉरेंसिक टीम के साथ घटनास्थल पर पहुंचे।
पुलिस की प्रारंभिक जांच में हत्या के पीछे पैसों का विवाद सामने आया है। जांच के अनुसार, शांतनु ने उज्ज्वल सेनगुप्ता को 15 हजार रुपये उधार दिए थे। काफी समय बीतने के बावजूद रुपये वापस नहीं मिलने पर दोनों के बीच तनाव बढ़ गया था।
परिवार की शिकायत पर झूंसी थाने में उज्ज्वल सेनगुप्ता, यश गुप्ता, दिव्यांश निषाद, छोटू पासी, छोटू यादव उर्फ अंडा समेत अन्य अज्ञात लोगों के खिलाफ मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया है।
पुलिस ने मामले में चार आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। वहीं, छोटू पासी के फरार होने की बात सामने आई है और उसकी तलाश में पुलिस दबिश दे रही है।
जांच में यह भी पता चला कि पैसों को लेकर विवाद पिछले करीब तीन महीने से चल रहा था। पुलिस के मुताबिक, शांतनु ने अपने पिता से पैसे लेकर उज्ज्वल को उधार दिए थे। जब उसने रकम वापस मांगी तो विवाद बढ़ता गया।
करीब ढाई महीने पहले शांतनु के पिता दीपक दुबे ने भी उज्ज्वल से रुपये लौटाने को लेकर पूछताछ की थी। आरोप है कि उस दौरान उज्ज्वल ने उनके साथ मारपीट की थी।
पुलिस पूछताछ में सामने आए तथ्यों के अनुसार, सोमवार रात शांतनु को मिलने के लिए बुलाया गया था। जांचकर्ताओं को आशंका है कि शुरुआत में उसे डराने या उसके साथ मारपीट करने की योजना रही होगी।
हालांकि, विवाद ने हिंसक रूप ले लिया और कथित तौर पर चाकू से उस पर हमला कर दिया गया। पुलिस के अनुसार, सिर पर कई वार किए जाने से शांतनु की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई।
वारदात के बाद आरोपी कथित तौर पर शव को नाले में फेंककर वहां से निकल गए। फॉरेंसिक टीम को घटनास्थल से खून के निशान मिले हैं।
जांच के दौरान शांतनु का कटा हुआ अंगूठा भी बरामद हुआ। पुलिस को आशंका है कि हमले के दौरान बचाव की कोशिश करते समय चाकू लगने से उसका अंगूठा कट गया होगा।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, उज्ज्वल और शांतनु की पहले से दोस्ती थी और दोनों के बीच नियमित रूप से मुलाकात होती थी।
जांच में उज्ज्वल की कथित नशे की आदत और उसके खर्चीले रहन-सहन से जुड़े पहलुओं की भी पड़ताल की जा रही है। पुलिस अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि हत्या की साजिश किस स्तर पर बनी और वारदात में प्रत्येक आरोपी की क्या भूमिका थी।
पोस्टमार्टम के बाद मंगलवार शाम पुलिस ने शांतनु का शव परिजनों को सौंप दिया। मामले की जांच जारी है और पुलिस फरार आरोपी की गिरफ्तारी के साथ हत्या से जुड़े अन्य तथ्यों की पुष्टि करने में जुटी है।
कुछ साल पहले हो चुकी है मां की मौत
शांतनु के परिवार पर पहले भी दुख का पहाड़ टूट चुका है। उसकी मां रेखा देवी की कई वर्ष पहले एक हादसे में मौत हो गई थी। रेखा देवी से दीपक दुबे के दो बेटे शांतनु और विमलेश थे। पहली पत्नी के निधन के बाद दीपक दुबे ने दूसरी शादी की, लेकिन दूसरी पत्नी से कोई संतान नहीं हुई।
शांतनु एमएस कान्वेंट स्कूल में इंटरमीडिएट का छात्र था। उसकी हत्या के बाद पिता दीपक दुबे, छोटे भाई विमलेश और परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों का रो-रोकर बुरा हाल है।
