UP CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Uninterrupted Power Supply Amid Severe Heatwave
Amid rising temperatures and growing electricity demand across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality power supply in both rural and urban areas of the state.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Lucknow on Sunday, the Chief Minister stressed that people should not suffer due to electricity shortages during the intense summer season.
He said farmers, traders, industries, and ordinary citizens all depend heavily on reliable electricity, especially during extreme heat conditions, and any disruption can seriously affect daily life.

The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, Minister of State Kailash Singh Rajput, along with senior officials from the Energy Department, Power Corporation, and various power distribution companies (DISCOMs).
Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of the power supply situation across the state and ensure quick action wherever problems arise.
He warned that negligence at any level would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found responsible for lapses in service delivery.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to improve billing and revenue collection efficiency to strengthen the overall power distribution system.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the state’s electricity generation and supply capacity.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to maximise the use of all available power generation units in view of the sharp increase in electricity demand during the summer months.
He also asked officials to give top priority to technical efficiency, maintenance, and smooth functioning of power plants so that there is no disruption in supply during peak demand hours.
According to officials, the total electricity generation capacity of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited has now increased to 13,388 megawatts.
Calling electricity supply more than just a technical issue, Yogi said it is directly connected to people’s lives, agricultural irrigation, business operations, and industrial growth.
He noted that stable electricity is essential for both economic activity and public comfort during the ongoing heatwave.
The Chief Minister directed field officers to remain alert, closely monitor local supply conditions, and ensure that consumer complaints are resolved quickly and efficiently.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Yogi Adityanath said providing sufficient electricity to citizens during the harsh summer season remains one of the state government’s top priorities, and all DISCOMs must work together to achieve that goal.
