Haryana Horror: 19-Year-Old Woman Dies by Suicide After Alleged Assault, Gangrape, Blackmail in Nuh
A 19-year-old woman from Nuh allegedly died by suicide after she was assaulted gangraped and later blackmailed with a video of the incident, police sources said.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and triggered an intensive police investigation.
Based on the young woman’s dying declaration, police have registered a case against five individuals.
Officials said two of the accused, who belong to the victim’s village, have been identified as the main suspects in the case.
According to the complaint filed with the police, the incident allegedly took place in the early hours of Tuesday while the woman was alone inside the house.
Her father had reportedly gone to visit a relative, while her mother was sleeping on the rooftop because of the summer heat.
Police sources said the accused allegedly entered the house forcibly and gagged the woman with a cloth before gangraping her.
Investigators further alleged that the attackers recorded the assault and rape on a mobile phone.
The next morning, they allegedly used the video to threaten the woman, warning her that the footage would be circulated online if she spoke about the incident.
Police said the accused also pressured her to meet them again at a location chosen by them.
The incident came to light later that evening after the woman’s father returned home. According to police sources, the family was devastated after learning about the alleged assault, and one relative reportedly collapsed due to the shock and had to receive medical treatment.
Amid the panic and emotional turmoil inside the house, the young woman allegedly went into her room and consumed a poisonous substance. Family members rushed her to a nearby hospital after she started vomiting.
Before her condition worsened, police said the woman was able to speak to investigating officers and narrate the sequence of events.
She also identified two of the alleged attackers during her statement.
A senior police officer from the district said the victim was conscious when she arrived at the local healthcare facility and provided details of the assault to authorities.
However, while she was being shifted in an ambulance to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment, she succumbed to the effects of the poison, the officer added.
Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to the gangrape of an adult woman and abetment of suicide.
Investigators said multiple police teams have been formed to locate and arrest the absconding accused. Raids are currently underway in different locations linked to the suspects.
Meanwhile, forensic teams are examining medical evidence, including viscera samples collected during the postmortem examination conducted to support the investigation and establish the extent of the assault.
The young woman belonged to a farming family, and her death has left relatives and villagers in deep grief and disbelief.
