UP Govt plans 3-day mela in all districts of state as Yogi Adityanath’s govt completes eight years
A grand three-day event will be organized across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh from March 25 to commemorate the completion of eight years of the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state. The extensive celebration aims to highlight the government’s achievements and increase awareness about various welfare schemes implemented over the years.
The highlight of the event will be a district-level three-day mela, during which beneficiaries will be enrolled in different welfare schemes launched by the state and central governments. Additionally, an exhibition will be set up to showcase the various developmental initiatives undertaken by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh over the past eight years, along with achievements of the Narendra Modi-led central government spanning the last 11 years. The event will also feature cultural programs in the evening, including poetry recitation (Kavita Path), traditional folk dance performances, folk music renditions, street plays (nukkad natak), and storytelling sessions (Kissa Goi), among other artistic presentations, as confirmed by government officials.
Sources within the government have indicated that this initiative draws inspiration from a similar campaign conducted three years ago by the central government to mark the completion of eight years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. This new campaign, named “Aath Saal Bemisaal,” will be implemented across the state to bring people closer to the government’s efforts in transforming Uttar Pradesh.
“There are multiple programs lined up for the three-day celebration scheduled on March 25, 26, and 27, in every district of the state. Apart from participation by ministers and local representatives, a series of fairs will be held, wherein the development work accomplished by the government will be showcased. Information about various welfare schemes will be disseminated among the people to ensure maximum awareness. The evenings will be dedicated to cultural performances by local artists,” a senior official stated.
A formal directive will soon be issued to all district administrations, detailing the planned activities and assigning responsibilities to different state departments for the smooth execution of the celebrations. Officials have emphasized that the government intends to spotlight major developmental projects, ranging from the establishment of new airports and expressways to improvements in infrastructure and governance. The focus will also be on the restoration of law and order and the creation of employment opportunities in the state.
Moreover, the government seeks to underline the role of religious tourism in strengthening the state’s economy, with special emphasis on major pilgrimage sites such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, and the recently concluded Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. A significant directive issued by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last week instructed ministers to visit the districts under their charge on March 25, carrying Ganga water. This water is intended for distribution among people who were unable to travel to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, allowing them to partake in the spiritual essence of the grand event.
Alongside distributing booklets documenting the government’s achievements, the Chief Minister himself will address the people from Lucknow, presenting a detailed account of his administration’s accomplishments. Simultaneously, ministers assigned to different districts will deliver similar addresses to inform the local populace about the developmental progress in their respective areas.
The three-day melas will witness the active participation of local representatives, including Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) from each region. Their presence is expected to strengthen community engagement and reinforce the government’s commitment to public welfare and regional development.
Speaking about the planned cultural programs, Principal Secretary of the Culture Department, Mukesh Meshram, stated, “Apart from highlighting the government’s key achievements, we aim to encourage and promote the talents of local and folk artists from different regions. Cultural events will be held across all 75 districts, providing a platform for artists to showcase their skills and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh.”
He further elaborated that the events are being planned on the availability of local artists and will feature a diverse range of performances, including nukkad natak (street plays), folk storytelling sessions, traditional dance performances, and folk music. These artistic endeavors will serve to engage the public while also reinforcing a sense of cultural pride and community spirit.
Overall, the upcoming celebrations are expected to serve as a grand showcase of Uttar Pradesh’s transformation under the BJP government, ensuring that people from all walks of life are made aware of the state’s development journey and the various welfare initiatives available to them. With an extensive range of programs and activities planned, the event is anticipated to witness widespread public participation, making it a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its connection with the people of the state.
