A college professor in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district has been suspended and booked following allegations of sexually exploiting female students. The accused, identified as Rajnish, is the head of the geography department at Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College. The allegations surfaced through an anonymous complaint, which included video evidence purportedly showing his involvement in obscene acts. An FIR was registered against him on March 13, according to police officials.
Circle Officer Yogendra Krishna Narain confirmed that Rajnish has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 64(2) (rape), Section 68 (sexual intercourse by a person in authority), and Section 75 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty). Law enforcement agencies have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter and are also making efforts to trace the complainant who initially reported the case.
The complaint, which was sent to the Women’s Commission and senior administrative officials, contained serious accusations against the professor. It alleged that he engaged in sexually exploitative acts with students, secretly recorded the encounters, and later used the footage to further intimidate and harass his victims. Along with the complaint, the informant also submitted photographs that allegedly show the professor in compromising situations.
In her letter, the complainant detailed how she had previously attempted to bring the issue to light, but no action was taken against the accused. Expressing deep distress, she wrote, “No girl will speak out due to public shame. Please take strict action and save many girls like me.” She also mentioned that the continued harassment had taken a severe toll on her mental well-being, leaving her in a state of distress.
The scandal has sparked significant outrage, particularly on social media, where photos and allegations have been widely circulated. Public discourse around the incident has intensified, with many calling for strict action against the accused professor. Authorities have assured that the investigation is being conducted with the utmost seriousness, and action will be taken based on the evidence gathered.
Meanwhile, the administration of Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College has responded to the controversy by suspending Rajnish pending further inquiry. The college’s secretary, Pradeep Kumar Bagla, confirmed the suspension and stated that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
As the police continue to probe the allegations, they are examining digital evidence, questioning witnesses, and verifying the authenticity of the complaint and related materials. Officials have reassured that strict legal measures will be taken if the charges are proven true. The case remains under active investigation, with further developments expected in the coming days.
