UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026: Uttar Pradesh Eyes Japanese Industrial Ecosystem and New Investment Push
More than 200 Japanese business leaders arrived in India on a five-day engagement programme across the country as Uttar Pradesh showcases a 500-acre Japanese City plan, multi-crore manufacturing projects and opportunities in future-oriented industries.
Uttar Pradesh is preparing to make a fresh push for Japanese investment by combining individual manufacturing projects with a larger plan to build an industrial ecosystem dedicated to companies from Japan.
At the centre of that strategy is a proposed 500-acre Japanese City in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area, where major companies, their suppliers and ancillary units could operate within an integrated industrial network.
The broader plan is expected to receive significant attention during the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, a five-day programme beginning on August 18 that will bring together more than 200 Japanese industrialists, company executives, business representatives and policymakers.
The initiative will begin in New Delhi before moving through key centres in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Greater Noida, Agra and Varanasi.
The state government hopes the programme will help convert business discussions into investment commitments, joint ventures, technology partnerships and new employment opportunities.
The Japanese delegation is being led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the delegation in the national capital.
The programme has been designed around sectors that Uttar Pradesh believes will shape the next phase of industrial growth.
These include advanced manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, clean technology, renewable energy, green hydrogen and digital infrastructure.
The state’s investment promotion agency, Invest UP, has planned interactions involving Japanese companies, government officials, Indian businesses and educational institutions.
The discussions are expected to focus not only on capital investment but also on technology sharing and workforce development.
A major event will be held in Lucknow on August 21 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, where Japanese investors will have opportunities to meet state government representatives and Indian companies through government-to-business and business-to-business sessions.
Senior representatives from the Union government, including Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, are also expected to take part.
The gathering is likely to feature several prominent Japanese companies and organisations, including JETRO, Kubota Corporation Japan, Escorts Kubota, Toshiba India, Honda Trading Corporation India, Daikin Airconditioning India, Sumitomo Corporation India and Panasonic, besides several India-based industrial groups with Japanese partnerships.
The YEIDA region will be one of the most closely watched parts of the investment programme.
Projects proposed there by Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation involve a combined investment of more than Rs 3,191 crore.
A virtual ground-breaking ceremony for the projects is part of the programme.
Escorts Kubota has proposed an industrial project worth Rs 2,025 crore in Sector 10.
The facility is expected to manufacture tractors, construction machinery and related products.
Minda Corporation is working on two projects in Sectors 10 and 24.
With a combined proposed investment of Rs 1,166 crore, the projects are expected to generate around 6,440 jobs.
Their proposed manufacturing portfolio includes ignition switch-cum-steering lock systems, mechatronic products, wiring harnesses and related connection systems.
The proposed Japanese City is intended to build on such investments.
Rather than treating large factories as isolated projects, the state government wants to create an industrial cluster capable of attracting component manufacturers, suppliers and support industries around major companies.
The aim is to develop a more complete supply-chain base and expand employment beyond the main manufacturing units.
The investment meet will also project Uttar Pradesh’s ambitions in clean energy.
Japanese businesses will be presented with opportunities in renewable power, green technologies and green hydrogen.
The state also intends to highlight opportunities in semiconductors, electronics and automotive components as it seeks a larger role in advanced manufacturing.
Another area of interest will be the expansion of digital infrastructure. Investment possibilities related to Global Capability Centres and data centres are expected to form part of the discussions with Japanese companies.
Skill development has been placed alongside investment as an important element of the programme.
The government plans to explore stronger cooperation between industry and educational institutions, particularly in technical training and workforce preparation.
Tourism will provide another dimension to the UP-Japan engagement.
Given Japan’s historical and cultural links with Buddhism, Uttar Pradesh will present the Buddhist Circuit as an area for possible cooperation.
Varanasi, Sarnath and Kushinagar will be among the destinations highlighted for tourism-related infrastructure and development.
Agra will also be part of the programme, with opportunities in tourism and smart urban infrastructure expected to be showcased.
By taking the Japanese delegation from Delhi to multiple cities in Uttar Pradesh, the state government intends to demonstrate the breadth of investment opportunities available across regions and sectors.
The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, therefore, is not being positioned merely as a conventional business conference.
Uttar Pradesh is seeking to use it to strengthen long-term ties with Japanese industry while building manufacturing clusters, attracting technology and creating an ecosystem that can support future economic growth.

उत्तर प्रदेश जापानी कंपनियों को केवल अलग-अलग औद्योगिक परियोजनाओं तक सीमित रखने के बजाय उनके लिए एक व्यापक औद्योगिक तंत्र विकसित करने की दिशा में कदम बढ़ा रहा है।
इसी योजना के तहत यमुना एक्सप्रेसवे औद्योगिक विकास प्राधिकरण क्षेत्र में 500 एकड़ भूमि पर एक विशेष ‘जापानी सिटी’ विकसित करने का प्रस्ताव तैयार किया गया है।
इस औद्योगिक क्षेत्र में जापानी कंपनियों के साथ उनके सप्लायर, कंपोनेंट निर्माता और अन्य सहायक उद्योगों को भी जगह देने की योजना है।
सरकार का उद्देश्य बड़े कारखानों के आसपास एक मजबूत सप्लाई चेन विकसित करना और इसके माध्यम से बड़े पैमाने पर रोजगार के अवसर तैयार करना है।
यह योजना यूपी-जापान इन्वेस्टमेंट मीट 2026 के दौरान प्रमुख रूप से सामने आएगी। 18 अगस्त से शुरू होने वाले इस कार्यक्रम में 200 से अधिक जापानी उद्योगपति, कॉरपोरेट प्रतिनिधि, निवेशक और नीति निर्माता भाग ले रहे हैं
पांच दिन तक चलने वाला यह कार्यक्रम दिल्ली से शुरू होकर लखनऊ, ग्रेटर नोएडा, आगरा और वाराणसी तक पहुंचेगा।
राज्य सरकार का लक्ष्य जापानी कंपनियों के साथ निवेश, तकनीकी सहयोग, संयुक्त उपक्रम और रोजगार सृजन के नए अवसरों को आगे बढ़ाना है।
जापानी प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व यामानाशी प्रांत के गवर्नर कोटारो नागासाकी करेंगे। नई दिल्ली में प्रतिनिधिमंडल के स्वागत कार्यक्रम में केंद्रीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल और मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ शामिल होंगे।
इस पहल के जरिए उत्तर प्रदेश भविष्य की अर्थव्यवस्था से जुड़े उद्योगों में जापानी भागीदारी बढ़ाना चाहता है।
कार्यक्रम में आधुनिक विनिर्माण, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, सेमीकंडक्टर, स्वच्छ तकनीक, नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा, ग्रीन हाइड्रोजन और डिजिटल इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर जैसे क्षेत्रों में अवसर प्रस्तुत किए जाएंगे।
इन्वेस्ट यूपी द्वारा आयोजित कार्यक्रमों में जापानी कंपनियों के प्रतिनिधियों की मुलाकात केंद्र और राज्य सरकार के अधिकारियों, भारतीय उद्योग जगत और शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से कराई जाएगी।
लखनऊ में 21 अगस्त को इंदिरा गांधी प्रतिष्ठान में मुख्य निवेश सम्मेलन आयोजित होगा।
यहां सरकारी संस्थाओं और उद्योग जगत के बीच सीधे संवाद के साथ जापानी और भारतीय कंपनियों के बीच कारोबारी साझेदारी की संभावनाओं पर चर्चा होगी।
कार्यक्रम में केंद्रीय इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव और केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान सहित कई वरिष्ठ प्रतिनिधियों के शामिल होने की संभावना है।
जापान की कई प्रमुख कंपनियां और संगठन भी इस आयोजन का हिस्सा बनेंगे। इनमें जेट्रो, कुबोटा कॉरपोरेशन जापान, एस्कॉर्ट्स कुबोटा, तोशिबा इंडिया, होंडा ट्रेडिंग कॉरपोरेशन इंडिया, डाइकिन एयरकंडीशनिंग इंडिया, सुमितोमो कॉरपोरेशन इंडिया और पैनासोनिक जैसे नाम शामिल हैं।
इस निवेश कार्यक्रम में YEIDA क्षेत्र विशेष आकर्षण का केंद्र रहेगा।
एस्कॉर्ट्स कुबोटा और मिंडा कॉरपोरेशन की प्रस्तावित परियोजनाओं में कुल 3,191 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक के निवेश की योजना है। इन परियोजनाओं के लिए वर्चुअल ग्राउंड-ब्रेकिंग समारोह भी आयोजित किया जाएगा।
एस्कॉर्ट्स कुबोटा सेक्टर-10 में 2,025 करोड़ रुपये की औद्योगिक इकाई स्थापित करने की तैयारी कर रही है। प्रस्तावित परियोजना में ट्रैक्टर, निर्माण उपकरण और संबंधित उत्पादों का निर्माण किया जाएगा।
वहीं, मिंडा कॉरपोरेशन सेक्टर-10 और सेक्टर-24 में दो परियोजनाएं विकसित कर रही है। दोनों योजनाओं में 1,166 करोड़ रुपये के निवेश का प्रस्ताव है और इनके जरिए करीब 6,440 लोगों को रोजगार मिलने की उम्मीद है।
इन इकाइयों में इग्निशन स्विच-कम-स्टीयरिंग लॉक, मेकाट्रॉनिक कंपोनेंट, वायरिंग हार्नेस और अन्य कनेक्शन सिस्टम बनाए जाएंगे।
सरकार का मानना है कि इन परियोजनाओं के आसपास यदि छोटे और मध्यम स्तर के आपूर्तिकर्ता उद्योग भी विकसित होते हैं तो YEIDA क्षेत्र एक बड़े जापानी विनिर्माण केंद्र का रूप ले सकता है।
यही कारण है कि प्रस्तावित जापानी सिटी को केवल औद्योगिक भूखंडों की परियोजना के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक संपूर्ण औद्योगिक इकोसिस्टम के रूप में विकसित करने की तैयारी है।
कार्यक्रम में स्वच्छ और टिकाऊ विकास पर भी विशेष ध्यान दिया जाएगा। जापानी कंपनियों को नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा, ग्रीन टेक्नोलॉजी और ग्रीन हाइड्रोजन के क्षेत्र में निवेश के अवसरों से अवगत कराया जाएगा।
सेमीकंडक्टर, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और ऑटो कंपोनेंट्स भी उत्तर प्रदेश की प्राथमिकता वाले क्षेत्रों में शामिल होंगे।
डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूत करने के लिए ग्लोबल कैपेबिलिटी सेंटर और डेटा सेंटर से जुड़ी परियोजनाओं पर भी जापानी निवेशकों के साथ बातचीत की जाएगी।
राज्य सरकार निवेश के साथ प्रशिक्षित मानव संसाधन तैयार करने पर भी जोर दे रही है। इसीलिए उद्योग और शिक्षण संस्थानों के बीच सहयोग तथा तकनीकी प्रशिक्षण को कार्यक्रम का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा बनाया गया है।
यूपी-जापान साझेदारी का दायरा पर्यटन तक भी बढ़ाया जाएगा।
भारत और जापान के बीच बौद्ध धर्म से जुड़े ऐतिहासिक संबंधों को देखते हुए वाराणसी, सारनाथ और कुशीनगर के बौद्ध पर्यटन सर्किट में विकास और आधारभूत ढांचे की संभावनाएं प्रस्तुत की जाएंगी।
आगरा में पर्यटन के साथ स्मार्ट शहरी बुनियादी ढांचे में सहयोग के अवसर भी जापानी प्रतिनिधियों के सामने रखे जाएंगे।
दिल्ली से लेकर उत्तर प्रदेश के कई प्रमुख शहरों तक फैले इस कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से सरकार जापान के सामने राज्य की अलग-अलग आर्थिक क्षमताओं को एक साथ प्रस्तुत करना चाहती है।
यूपी-जापान इन्वेस्टमेंट मीट 2026 को उत्तर प्रदेश के लिए केवल निवेश सम्मेलन नहीं, बल्कि जापानी उद्योगों के साथ दीर्घकालिक औद्योगिक और तकनीकी संबंध मजबूत करने के प्रयास के रूप में देखा जा रहा है।
