Yogi Adityanath in Bhadohi: UP Has Moved Beyond Mafia and Disorder, CM Says

BHADOHI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the state was undergoing a major transformation, with the government working to create an environment where development, employment and tourism could advance without the disruption that he associated with previous administrations.

Addressing a gathering in Sant Ravidas Nagar, Bhadohi, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had shed the image of a state troubled by mafias, curfews and unrest and was now being projected as an “Utsav Pradesh”, or a state of festivals and cultural celebration.

The occasion was marked by a major development push in the district. Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 112 projects with a combined value of more than Rs 1,340 crore covering the Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur assembly constituencies.

The Chief Minister also handed over appointment letters, keys and financial assistance to beneficiaries of various government schemes during the programme.

A substantial part of his address focused on young people and employment. Yogi said the state had already provided government jobs to around 9.5 lakh young people and claimed that the recruitment process would continue at an accelerated pace.

He announced that the government intended to provide another one lakh government jobs within the next six months, while taking a swipe at the Samajwadi Party over its criticism of the state’s recruitment record.

The Chief Minister also issued a stern warning to those attempting to manipulate recruitment examinations or interfere with the selection process.

He said anyone found compromising the employment prospects of young people would face criminal action and seizure of property.

Yogi also linked the government’s development agenda with the protection of women and traders, warning that those who threaten their security would face strict action.

Turning to the political legacy of earlier governments, the Chief Minister alleged that development resources had been diverted under the previous Samajwadi Party government and claimed that the interests of ordinary citizens had been overshadowed by what he described as a narrow family-centred political agenda.

He accused the previous administration of prioritising what he characterised as family interests, appeasement and disorder, while alleging that young people, farmers, artisans and women had not received adequate attention.

The Chief Minister also used the occasion to highlight the government’s spending on religious and heritage sites.

He said funds were now being directed towards improving pilgrimage centres, preserving heritage associated with India’s past and upgrading facilities at important religious destinations.

According to Yogi, such spending had not received similar priority before 2017.

He alleged that funds meant for development had previously been diverted in the name of constructing boundary walls around graveyards, which he claimed had in some cases facilitated encroachment on land.

The remarks formed part of a broader political contrast the Chief Minister sought to draw between the present administration and the previous Samajwadi Party government.

Yogi said his government’s approach was centred on development, employment, public safety, cultural heritage and the expansion of infrastructure, presenting Bhadohi’s latest projects as an example of that policy.

The inauguration and foundation-stone ceremonies therefore combined two of the government’s key political messages—accelerating physical development across Uttar Pradesh and expanding employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
