Yogi Adityanath Orders FIR Over Alleged Offensive Remarks Against Akhilesh Yadav’s Daughter, Calls for Respect Towards Women

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said he had instructed the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the alleged objectionable comments made against the daughter of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

At the same time, he urged Yadav to ensure that members of his party maintain dignity and show proper respect towards women, stressing that political leaders should first assess the conduct of their own supporters before criticising others.

Addressing a public event in Azamgarh during the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony of several development projects, Adityanath said that he acted immediately after learning about the matter.

“As soon as the issue came to my attention, I directed the police to file an FIR. Any disrespectful remark against a daughter is unacceptable.

A daughter deserves respect irrespective of who she is,” he said.

The Chief Minister reiterated that derogatory or offensive comments targeting daughters should never be tolerated under any circumstances and should be condemned regardless of political affiliations or ideological differences.

His remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing political exchanges between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party.

Using the occasion to highlight his government’s approach, Adityanath contrasted its initiatives aimed at women’s welfare with what he described as inappropriate behaviour by certain opposition supporters.

He said the state government has introduced numerous programmes designed to support girls and women at every stage of life—from birth and education to empowerment and security.

According to him, ensuring the dignity, safety and progress of women has remained a key priority of his administration. “Our daughters deserve honour and protection,” he stated.

Referring to traditional Indian social values, Adityanath said society has long upheld the belief that every daughter deserves collective care and respect.

He noted that cultural teachings emphasise treating the daughters and sisters of a community as one’s own family members.

“We have been raised with values that teach us to respect and protect every daughter and sister. We have never differentiated on this issue,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister also aimed at the Samajwadi Party leadership, suggesting that Akhilesh Yadav should first counsel his own supporters regarding their language and conduct.

He said individuals should introspect before pointing fingers at others and consider how members of their own camp speak about daughters, sisters, senior citizens, deceased persons and political leaders.

Adityanath further remarked that opposition workers should be taught better social and moral values.

In a pointed comment directed at the SP chief, he said, “It would be beneficial if you educate your workers on proper conduct.

If they still fail to understand, send them to us, and we will ensure they learn the lesson appropriately.”

The remarks have added a fresh dimension to the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, while also bringing the issue of responsible conduct on social media and respect towards women into sharp focus.
