Allahabad High Court Reserves Judgment On Appointment Of AMU VC

The Allahabad High Court has reserved judgment after the completion of the hearing on the petition challenging the process of appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
The petitioner, Prof. Mujahid Be, has alleged irregularities in the appointment of the VC of AMU to givefavorr to a particular candidate.
This order, dated April 9, was passed by a division bench comprising Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Donadi Ramesh on a writ petition filed by Prof Mujahid Beg.
The petitioner has alleged irregularities in the appointment process of the Vice Chancellor, saying that the rules are being violated in selecting Prof Naima Khatoon, who is the wife of acting vice-chancellor Prof Mohammad Gulrez, for the post of vice chancellor.
According to the petition, the acting vice-chancellor was presiding over the selection process, and his wife, Professor Naima Khatoon, is a contender for the post of vice-chancellor.
