Agra Chambal Murder: Delhi Woman Allegedly Killed by Father Over Pregnancy, Police Arrest Two
An 18-year-old Delhi woman who was allegedly pregnant was murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district after her father and brother-in-law allegedly decided to kill her over fears of social stigma, police said.
The woman was allegedly taken from Delhi to Agra on July 28 on the pretext of arranging an abortion.
Two days later, she was taken to the Chambal river near Basoni, where police allege that the two men forced her into the water and drowned her.
Her body has not yet been recovered. A search operation involving divers is continuing in the river.
The two accused were arrested on August 2 after a neighbour alerted the police over inconsistencies in the father’s account of what had happened to his daughter.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly attempted to create the impression that the woman had taken her own life.
Photographs found on the mobile phone of the woman’s brother-in-law became an important piece of evidence.
The images allegedly show the father and his daughter standing together in the river shortly before her death.
Police also examined mobile-phone location records which they said placed the woman and both accused travelling together from Delhi to Agra.
Neighbour’s suspicion exposed the alleged cover-up
The case surfaced after the father returned to Delhi on July 31.
A neighbour reportedly became suspicious when the account given by him did not appear credible and contacted the police control room.
Investigators said the father initially told people in the neighbourhood that his daughter had been suffering from depression.
He allegedly later claimed that she had died by suicide in Agra and that he had arranged her cremation there.
Police said the man’s account came under scrutiny during the investigation. Officers subsequently alleged that he attempted to misdirect investigators before admitting his involvement during questioning.
Relationship and pregnancy became focus of probe
The woman was the middle of three siblings and lived with her father in South Delhi.
Her mother had died of cancer about eight years ago. Her father worked as a confectioner.
Police said the woman had met a boy through Instagram around eight months earlier.
The boy was about two years younger than her. Their online acquaintance reportedly developed into a relationship, and the two began meeting.
Investigators said the woman subsequently became pregnant. Her father allegedly approached the boy’s family and sought their consent for the two to marry.
According to police, the discussions did not result in an agreement.
Investigators suspect that the failure to arrange the marriage and concerns over the family’s social standing led the father to allegedly decide to kill his daughter.
The boy and members of his family have been questioned by police as part of the investigation.
Evidence recovered from accused’s phone
Police said photographs recovered from the brother-in-law’s mobile phone helped establish the sequence of events immediately preceding the woman’s disappearance.
Investigators also used digital location information from the phones of the woman and the two accused to establish that all three had travelled together to Agra.
Police said the woman was believed to be around four months pregnant when she was killed.
The investigation is continuing, and authorities are yet to recover the body from the Chambal. The evidence gathered so far will be examined as the case proceeds through the legal process.

उत्तर प्रदेश के आगरा जिले में एक 18 वर्षीय युवती की कथित तौर पर उसके पिता और बहनोई ने हत्या कर दी।
\पुलिस के अनुसार, युवती अविवाहित थी और करीब चार महीने की गर्भवती थी। आरोप है कि सामाजिक बदनामी के डर से दोनों ने उसे चंबल नदी में धकेल दिया।
पुलिस के मुताबिक युवती को 28 जुलाई को गर्भपात कराने के बहाने दिल्ली से आगरा ले जाया गया था। वहां दो दिन एक रिश्तेदार के घर रुकने के बाद उसे 30 जुलाई को बासौनी के पास चंबल नदी की ओर ले जाया गया।
आरोप है कि युवती को नदी में जाने के लिए मजबूर किया गया और विरोध करने पर दोनों आरोपियों ने उसे पानी में धकेल दिया।
युवती का शव अभी बरामद नहीं हुआ है। नदी में गोताखोरों की मदद से तलाश जारी है।
पुलिस ने पिता और बहनोई को 2 अगस्त को गिरफ्तार किया।
मामला उस समय सामने आया जब परिवार का एक पड़ोसी युवती के पिता द्वारा बताई गई कहानी से संतुष्ट नहीं हुआ और उसने पुलिस कंट्रोल रूम को सूचना दी।
पड़ोसी को कहानी पर हुआ शक
पुलिस के अनुसार, युवती का पिता 31 जुलाई को आगरा से दिल्ली लौटा था। उसने पड़ोसियों को बताया कि उसकी बेटी मानसिक तनाव से गुजर रही थी।
बाद में उसने कथित तौर पर दावा किया कि युवती ने आगरा में आत्महत्या कर ली थी और वहीं उसका अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया गया।
पड़ोसी को इस कहानी पर संदेह हुआ और उसने पुलिस को सूचना दी। इसके बाद जांच शुरू हुई।
जांच के दौरान पुलिस को पिता के बयानों में कथित विरोधाभास मिले।
पूछताछ में वह शुरू में पुलिस को भ्रमित करने की कोशिश करता रहा लेकिन बाद में जांच आगे बढ़ने पर उसके खिलाफ आरोपों से जुड़े अहम तथ्य सामने आए।
मोबाइल में मिली तस्वीरों से खुली कड़ी
जांच में पुलिस को युवती के बहनोई के मोबाइल फोन से कुछ तस्वीरें मिलीं। पुलिस के मुताबिक इन तस्वीरों में युवती अपने पिता के साथ चंबल नदी के पानी में दिखाई देती है।
तस्वीरें उसकी मौत से कुछ समय पहले की बताई जा रही हैं।
पुलिस ने तीनों मोबाइल फोन की लोकेशन से जुड़ा डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड भी खंगाला। जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, लोकेशन डेटा से युवती और दोनों आरोपियों के एक साथ दिल्ली से आगरा जाने की पुष्टि हुई।
पुलिस के अनुसार, युवती की मौत के समय वह लगभग चार महीने की गर्भवती थी।
इंस्टाग्राम पर हुई थी युवक से दोस्ती
जांच में युवती की निजी जिंदगी से जुड़ी जानकारी भी सामने आई। पुलिस के अनुसार, करीब आठ महीने पहले उसकी इंस्टाग्राम के जरिए एक युवक से दोस्ती हुई थी। युवक उससे लगभग दो वर्ष छोटा था।
धीरे-धीरे दोनों के बीच संबंध बने और वे एक-दूसरे से मिलने लगे। बाद में युवती के गर्भवती होने की जानकारी सामने आई।
पुलिस के अनुसार, इसके बाद युवती के पिता ने युवक के परिवार से संपर्क कर दोनों की शादी कराने की कोशिश की। हालांकि, यह प्रयास सफल नहीं हुआ।
जांच एजेंसियों को संदेह है कि शादी नहीं हो पाने और सामाजिक प्रतिष्ठा को लेकर पैदा हुई चिंता के बाद पिता ने कथित तौर पर अपनी बेटी की हत्या का फैसला किया।
पुलिस ने युवक और उसके परिवार के सदस्यों से भी पूछताछ की है।
शव की तलाश जारी
मृत युवती तीन भाई-बहनों में बीच की संतान थी। वह दक्षिणी दिल्ली में अपने पिता के साथ रहती थी।
उसकी मां की करीब आठ वर्ष पहले कैंसर से मृत्यु हो गई थी। परिवार के अनुसार, पिता मिठाई का काम करते थे।
पुलिस ने बताया कि चंबल नदी में युवती के शव की तलाश लगातार जारी है। जांच में सामने आए मोबाइल लोकेशन रिकॉर्ड, तस्वीरों और अन्य साक्ष्यों को मामले की आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई में शामिल किया जा रहा है।
पिता और बहनोई के खिलाफ लगाए गए आरोपों की अब अदालत में जांच होगी।
