The Bollywood duo’s courtesy visit coincides with the promotional tour of their upcoming period film ‘Batwara 1947’

Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta paid a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow on Friday.

The meeting, which lasted for a brief duration, saw the Chief Minister presenting idols of a deity to both actors as a gesture of goodwill.

Sharing photographs from the meeting on his official social media handle, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted in Hindi:

“Today, a courtesy meeting took place with renowned film actor Sunny Deol Ji and actress Preity G Zinta Ji at the government residence in Lucknow.”

The images show the three personalities posing together in what appeared to be a warm and cordial atmosphere.

The meeting assumes significance as it comes ahead of the release of the actors’ much-anticipated film ‘Batwara 1947’, scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on August 14.

Earlier in the day, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta had been in Lucknow for promotional activities related to the film. Sunny Deol’s son, Karan Deol, who also features in the movie, was present at the promotional event.

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Batwara 1947’ marks the reunion of the acclaimed director-actor duo after nearly three decades.

The period drama, set during India’s Partition, explores themes of love, sacrifice, and resilience.

The film features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh alongside the lead pair.

Speaking about the film at the promotional event, Sunny Deol described it as a meaningful love story set against the backdrop of Partition, emphasising that the title ‘Batwara’ was chosen because it truly represents the emotions, struggles, and experiences portrayed in the movie.

Preity Zinta, who appears in the film alongside Sunny Deol, encouraged audiences to watch it, calling it a wonderful production with a strong message.

Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, ‘Batwara 1947’ is one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

यह मुलाकात उस समय हुई है जब कलाकारों की आगामी फिल्म ‘बटवारा 1947’ 14 अगस्त को दुनिया भर में रिलीज होने वाली है।

इससे पहले दिन में सनी देओल और प्रीति जिंटा लखनऊ में अपनी फिल्म के प्रचार में व्यस्त थे। सनी देओल के बेटे करण देओल, जो इस फिल्म में भी अहम भूमिका निभा रहे हैं, प्रचार कार्यक्रम में मौजूद थे।

राजकुमार संतोषी के निर्देशन में बनी ‘बटवारा 1947’ प्रसिद्ध निर्देशक-अभिनेता जोड़ी के लगभग तीन दशकों बाद पुनर्मिलन का प्रतीक है।

भारत विभाजन की पृष्ठभूमि पर बनी यह फिल्म प्रेम, बलिदान और साहस के विषयों को उकेरती है। फिल्म में शबाना आज़मी, अली फज़ल और अभिमन्यु सिंह के साथ कलाकारों की एक मजबूत टीम है।

प्रचार कार्यक्रम में फिल्म के बारे में बात करते हुए सनी देओल ने इसे विभाजन की पृष्ठभूमि में बनी एक सार्थक प्रेम कहानी बताया।
