Ajay Devgn to Host ‘Crime Patrol’ in TV Debut, New Season Premieres August 31

‘Crime Patrol – Crime Ka Current Season’ brings the Bollywood star into a new role as the long-running crime franchise explores crime, technology and changing social behaviour.

Mumbai: Ajay Devgn is moving from the big screen to television in a new avatar, taking charge as the host of the latest edition of the popular crime anthology ‘Crime Patrol’.

The actor will front ‘Crime Patrol – Crime Ka Current Season’, which is scheduled to premiere on Sony Entertainment Television on August 31. The programme will also be available to viewers on Sony LIV.

Devgn’s arrival represents a major change for a franchise whose most recognisable presenting voice in recent years was Anup Soni.

Soni remained closely associated with the programme for more than a decade, helping establish its distinctive narrative style.

For Devgn, the transition from playing characters such as the intense police officer in Singham and the determined family man in Drishyam to presenting real-life-inspired crime stories marks a different kind of screen challenge.

The new season will revisit cases based on real incidents while also examining the way contemporary pressures, digital platforms and social media can affect relationships, decision-making and human behaviour.

15 episodes already filmed

Devgn has completed filming for 15 episodes of the upcoming season. The programme is set to occupy a weekday evening slot, airing from Monday to Thursday after ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

Speaking about his association with the franchise, Devgn said taking on the programme carries a responsibility because of the trust viewers have placed in it over the years.

He said the show’s significance goes beyond narrating crime cases, as its stories can encourage audiences to remain alert and pay closer attention to circumstances and people around them.

The first promotional campaign for the new season points towards a contemporary treatment of crime.

It focuses on rapidly changing emotions and the pressures of modern life, particularly in an age where social media can shift people’s moods and reactions almost instantly.

The promo suggests that unchecked anger, frustration and emotional instability can sometimes push ordinary situations towards tragic consequences.

At the same time, viewers are encouraged to respond to such realities with awareness rather than panic.

The franchise has had several hosts.

‘Crime Patrol’ has been part of Indian television for more than two decades, having first premiered on May 9, 2003. Over the years, the franchise has been presented in several formats and has featured a succession of hosts.

Although Anup Soni became particularly identified with the programme after joining it in 2011, other names associated with its hosting duties include Divyanka Tripathi, Sonali Kulkarni, Ashutosh Rana and Sanjeev Tyagi.

With Devgn now taking over the presenter’s chair, the franchise is attempting another change in tone while retaining its central focus on crime awareness and stories inspired by real cases.

मुंबई: बॉलीवुड अभिनेता अजय देवगन अब बड़े पर्दे के बाद टेलीविजन पर एक नई जिम्मेदारी संभालने जा रहे हैं।

अभिनेता लंबे समय से लोकप्रिय क्राइम सीरीज ‘क्राइम पेट्रोल’ के आगामी सीजन में पहली बार होस्ट की भूमिका में दिखाई देंगे।

‘क्राइम पेट्रोल–क्राइम का करंट सीजन’ का प्रसारण 31 अगस्त से सोनी एंटरटेनमेंट टेलीविजन पर शुरू होगा। दर्शक इसे सोनी लिव पर भी स्ट्रीम कर सकेंगे।

अजय देवगन के जुड़ने से कार्यक्रम के प्रस्तुतीकरण में बड़ा बदलाव देखने को मिलेगा। इससे पहले लंबे समय तक अभिनेता अनूप सोनी इस शो की पहचान बने रहे।

एक दशक से अधिक समय तक कार्यक्रम से जुड़े रहने के कारण अनूप सोनी की प्रस्तुति को दर्शकों के बीच खास पहचान मिली थी।

अब देवगन की जिम्मेदारी वास्तविक घटनाओं से प्रेरित अपराध कथाओं को दर्शकों के सामने रखने की होगी। हालांकि, नया सीजन केवल अपराध की घटनाओं तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा।

इसमें आधुनिक जीवन का दबाव, सोशल मीडिया का प्रभाव और बदलते मानवीय व्यवहार जैसे पहलुओं को भी कहानी के संदर्भ में सामने लाने की कोशिश की जाएगी।

15 एपिसोड की शूटिंग पूरी

नए सीजन के लिए अजय देवगन 15 एपिसोड की शूटिंग पूरी कर चुके हैं। कार्यक्रम का प्रसारण सोमवार से गुरुवार तक किया जाएगा और इसे अमिताभ बच्चन के होस्ट किए जाने वाले ‘कौन बनेगा करोड़पति’ के बाद प्रसारित किया जाएगा।

शो से जुड़ने को लेकर देवगन ने इसे दर्शकों के प्रति एक जिम्मेदारी बताया है। उनका कहना है कि ‘क्राइम पेट्रोल’ ने वर्षों में केवल अपराध की कहानियां सुनाने वाला कार्यक्रम होने से आगे बढ़कर लोगों में जागरूकता पैदा करने की भूमिका निभाई है।

उनके अनुसार, ऐसी कहानियां दर्शकों को अपने आसपास के लोगों और परिस्थितियों को लेकर अधिक सतर्क रहने के लिए प्रेरित कर सकती हैं।

नए प्रोमो में आधुनिक दौर के दबाव की झलक

नए सीजन के पहले प्रोमो से इसके ट्रीटमेंट का संकेत मिलता है। इसमें तेजी से बदलती भावनाओं और आधुनिक जीवन की परिस्थितियों को अपराध से जोड़कर पेश किया गया है।

प्रोमो में सोशल मीडिया के दौर में भावनाओं के तेजी से बदलने और गुस्से या तनाव के नियंत्रण से बाहर हो जाने की स्थिति पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया है।

संदेश यह है कि बदलते सामाजिक माहौल को समझना और सतर्क रहना जरूरी है, लेकिन डर को अपने ऊपर हावी होने देना समाधान नहीं है।

इस तरह नया सीजन अपराध की घटनाओं के साथ उनके पीछे मौजूद सामाजिक और मनोवैज्ञानिक परिस्थितियों को भी रेखांकित करने की कोशिश करता दिखाई देगा।

2003 में शुरू हुआ था ‘क्राइम पेट्रोल’

‘क्राइम पेट्रोल’ भारतीय टेलीविजन के लंबे समय से चले आ रहे कार्यक्रमों में शामिल है। इसकी शुरुआत 9 मई 2003 को हुई थी। अलग-अलग वर्षों में इसके कई संस्करण आए और कार्यक्रम को विभिन्न कलाकारों ने होस्ट किया।

2011 के बाद अनूप सोनी इस शो से सबसे अधिक जुड़ी पहचानबनीं।। उनके अलावा दिव्यांका त्रिपाठी, सोनाली कुलकर्णी, आशुतोष राणा और संजीव त्यागी भी अलग-अलग दौर में इसकी मेजबानी कर चुके हैं।

अब अजय देवगन के जुड़ने के साथ यह चर्चित फ्रेंचाइजी एक बार फिर नए अंदाज में दर्शकों के सामने आने जा रही है।

अपराध की वास्तविक घटनाओं से प्रेरित कहानियों के साथ जागरूकता का संदेश इसकी मूल पहचान का हिस्सा बना रहेगा।
