Alia Bhatt Reveals Why She Joined Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’, Says Laughter Left Her ‘Stressed’
Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt recently opened up about her appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s much-talked-about yet controversial show India’s Got Latent.
Reflecting on the experience, she admitted that spending hours on the show left her feeling unexpectedly “stressed” — not because of controversy, but because she laughed far more than she usually does.
Alia, accompanied by her Alpha co-star Sharvari, visited JECRC University in Jaipur earlier this week to promote their upcoming spy thriller, Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail.
During the interactive session with students, one audience member asked why she had agreed to appear on the new season of India’s Got Latent, a show that had previously attracted widespread attention following controversial remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during its first season.
Before Alia could answer, another student jokingly shouted, “Paisa!” (Money). Instead of taking offence, the actor responded with humour by repeating one of Samay Raina’s signature punchlines.
Smiling, she replied, “Kaun bola? Gareeb aadmi” (“Who said that? A poor man”), drawing loud laughter from the audience. Samay later shared the clip on his Instagram Stories, captioning it, “Hahahaha full kill,” along with laughing emojis.
Her witty comeback was a callback to a memorable moment from the premiere episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2. During that episode, Samay had asked a contestant what a woman expects from a man.
When someone from the audience shouted “Money,” Alia asked who remarked, prompting Samay to jokingly respond, “Some poor man.”
The interaction also revisited one of Alia’s most talked-about television moments from years ago.
A student asked her to name the President of India, recalling the viral mistake she made during a quiz segment on Koffee with Karan Season 4 in 2014. Instead of directly answering,
Alia playfully asked the student whether he had watched India’s Got Latent. After the audience promised to applaud, she confidently answered, “Droupadi Murmu,” adding that the President had presented her with her National Award.
Alia received her first National Film Award for Best Actress for portraying the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s acclaimed 2022 film Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Sharing the real reason behind joining Samay Raina’s show, Alia said she and Sharvari had enjoyed his comedy long before appearing on the programme.
She praised Samay for spreading joy through his performances and described the experience as thoroughly entertaining.
The actor revealed that while viewers saw only about an hour of edited footage, the actual recording lasted nearly four to five hours, during which everyone kept laughing continuously.
Alia concluded by revealing that her smartwatch, which monitors her heart rate, showed unusually high stress levels during the shoot.
She laughed while explaining that the elevated readings were not caused by anxiety but by hours of nonstop laughter—something she joked she was simply not accustomed to.

बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री आलिया भट्ट ने हाल ही में कॉमेडियन समय रैना के चर्चित और विवादों में रहे शो ‘इंडियाज़ गॉट लेटेंट’ में अपनी मौजूदगी को लेकर खुलकर बात की। उन्होंने कहा कि शो के दौरान उनका अनुभव बेहद मजेदार रहा,
लेकिन लगातार घंटों तक हंसते रहने की वजह से उनकी स्मार्टवॉच ने उन्हें “स्ट्रेस” में बताया। आलिया ने मजाकिया अंदाज में कहा कि ऐसा तनाव किसी विवाद की वजह से नहीं, बल्कि जरूरत से ज्यादा हंसने के कारण था।
इस सप्ताह आलिया अपनी फिल्म ‘अल्फा’ की सह-कलाकार शरवरी के साथ जयपुर स्थित जेईसीआरसी यूनिवर्सिटी पहुंचीं, जहां दोनों ने निर्देशक शिव रवैल की आगामी स्पाई थ्रिलर ‘अल्फा’ का प्रचार किया।
बातचीत के दौरान एक छात्र ने उनसे पूछा कि उन्होंने ऐसे शो का हिस्सा बनने का फैसला क्यों किया, जिसका पहला सीजन यूट्यूबर रणवीर इलाहाबादिया की विवादित टिप्पणी के कारण काफी चर्चा में रहा था।
छात्र के सवाल का जवाब देने से पहले ही भीड़ में से किसी ने मजाक में कहा, “पैसा! इस पर नाराज होने के बजाय आलिया ने समय रैना के लोकप्रिय अंदाज में जवाब दिया, “कौन बोला? गरीब आदमी।” उनके इस जवाब पर पूरा सभागार ठहाकों से गूंज उठा।
बाद में समय रैना ने भी इस वीडियो क्लिप को अपनी इंस्टाग्राम स्टोरी पर साझा करते हुए “हाहाहा… फुल किल” लिखकर प्रतिक्रिया दी।
आलिया का यह जवाब ‘इंडियाज़ गॉट लेटेंट’ सीजन 2 के पहले एपिसोड की एक मजेदार घटना से जुड़ा था। उस एपिसोड में समय रैना ने एक प्रतियोगी से पूछा था कि लड़कियां किसी पुरुष से क्या चाहती हैं। तभी दर्शकों में से किसी ने “पैसा” कहा था। आलिया ने पूछा था कि यह किसने कहा, जिस पर समय ने मज़ाकिया अंदाज में जवाब दिया था, “कोई गरीब आदमी।”
कार्यक्रम के दौरान एक अन्य छात्र ने आलिया से भारत के राष्ट्रपति का नाम पूछ लिया। यह सवाल उनके 2014 के उस चर्चित टीवी पल की याद दिलाने के लिए था, जब ‘कॉफी विद करण’ के एक क्विज राउंड में उन्होंने गलत जवाब दिया था। इस बार आलिया ने मुस्कुराते हुए पूछा, “आपने लेटेंट नहीं देखा?”।
इसके बाद छात्रों से तालियां बजाने का वादा लेकर उन्होंने सही जवाब दिया—“द्रौपदी मुर्मू।” उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने ही उन्हें उनका पहला राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार प्रदान किया था। आलिया को संजय लीला भंसाली की फिल्म ‘गंगूबाई काठियावाड़ी’ में शानदार अभिनय के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेत्री का राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार मिला था।
शो में शामिल होने की असली वजह बताते हुए आलिया ने कहा कि वह और शरवरी पहले से ही समय रैना की कॉमेडी की प्रशंसक हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि समय लोगों के चेहरों पर मुस्कान लाने की अद्भुत क्षमता रखते हैं और उनके साथ समय बिताना बेहद मनोरंजक रहा।
आलिया ने यह भी खुलासा किया कि दर्शकों ने शो का केवल लगभग एक घंटे का संपादित संस्करण देखा, जबकि वास्तविक शूटिंग करीब चार से पांच घंटे तक चली थी। पूरे समय सभी लोग लगातार हंसते रहे और माहौल बेहद हल्का-फुल्का बना रहा था।
बात समाप्त करते हुए अभिनेत्री ने कहा कि शूटिंग के दौरान उनकी स्मार्टवॉच लगातार उनकी हार्ट रेट रिकॉर्ड कर रही थी। रिकॉर्डिंग खत्म होने के बाद उसमें “स्ट्रेस” का संकेत दिखाई दिया। हालांकि उन्होंने हंसते हुए स्पष्ट किया कि यह किसी दबाव या चिंता की वजह से नहीं, बल्कि कई घंटों तक लगातार हंसते रहने का नतीजा था।
