Andhra Pradesh Missing Man Case: Suspended Inspector Booked for Murder in Sai Krishna Disappearance
Vijayawada: A murder case has been registered against a suspended police inspector in connection with the mysterious disappearance of 24-year-old Gade Sai Krishna in Vijayawada, intensifying a case that has sparked widespread public and political concern.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed after the Andhra Pradesh High Court directed Vijayawada Police to produce Krishnalanka Circle Inspector S.V. Nagaraju before the court by June 22.
The direction came while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Sai Krishna’s mother, G. Vijayalakshmi, seeking to know her son’s whereabouts.
Police sources said Sai Krishna was allegedly picked up in connection with two pending arrest warrants.
Officials claimed that Krishna, who had multiple criminal cases registered against him, had gone into hiding to avoid arrest, although he had previously appeared before the police in connection with those cases.
However, after he was allegedly taken into custody on the evening of May 9, he was not produced before any court. According to his mother, police repeatedly denied that her son was in their custody.
Mother’s Emotional Appeal
Vijayalakshmi said she was called to Krishnalanka Police Station on May 9 and questioned about her son’s whereabouts.
“They checked my mobile phone and allowed me to leave. After that, I never saw my son again.
I returned to the police station on May 11 because I knew my son was there, but Inspector Nagaraju did not allow me to meet him.
He abused me and asked me to leave. I also approached senior police officers, but they dismissed my concerns and maintained that my son was not in police custody,” she alleged.
After she filed the habeas corpus petition on June 4, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed Vijayawada Police to conduct an inquiry and submit a detailed report.
Following repeated appeals made by Vijayalakshmi to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, the state government on Wednesday transferred Inspector Nagaraju to a vacant reserve post and subsequently suspended him.
Murder Case Registered
On Thursday night, Vijayawada Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekara Babu instructed the Krishnalanka Police Station to register a case against Nagaraju under Sections 103(1) (murder), 238, 127(4) and 127(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Assistant Commissioner of Police Daiva Prasad has been appointed as the investigating officer. The Police Commissioner said further details would be shared after the investigation progresses.
Family Alleges Custodial Death
An emotional Vijayalakshmi appealed to the court and police authorities to tell her the truth about her son.
“If my son is alive, please release him. If he has died, hand over his body. If he was cremated, then at least give me his ashes. I need closure. It has been more than a month, and I have neither slept nor eaten properly,” she said.
She alleged that her son was subjected to torture while in police custody, succumbed to his injuries and was secretly cremated.
Advocate K.V. Aditya Chowdary, who represents Vijayalakshmi, said that the family fears the worst and believes Sai Krishna may have been tortured to death and his body disposed of.
Political Controversy Deepens
The High Court had initially directed the Station House Officer of Krishnalanka Police Station to produce Sai Krishna before the court by June 15.
However, Advocate General D. Srinivas, appearing on behalf of the police, informed the court that Krishna’s whereabouts were unknown and that he was not in police custody.
The case has since escalated into a major political controversy, with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) demanding the release of CCTV footage from the police station.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged custodial death and sought action against everyone found responsible.
Jagan alleged that the case involved not only the suspended inspector but also senior police officials, including the Vijayawada Police Commissioner and the Director General of Police (DGP).
After visiting Sai Krishna’s residence in Krishnalanka, Jagan said the incident had exposed the deteriorating law-and-order situation in Andhra Pradesh. He further alleged that attempts were being made to portray Sai Krishna as a mafia operative or habitual offender after his disappearance and alleged death.
The investigation into the disappearance remains ongoing, and authorities are yet to establish Sai Krishna’s whereabouts.

पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार, साई कृष्णा को दो लंबित गिरफ्तारी वारंटों के सिलसिले में हिरासत में लिया गया था। अधिकारियों का दावा है कि उसके खिलाफ कई आपराधिक मामले दर्ज थे और गिरफ्तारी के डर से वह छिपकर रह रहा था, हालांकि इससे पहले वह संबंधित मामलों में पूछताछ के लिए पुलिस के सामने पेश हो चुका था।

उन्होंने कहा, “पुलिस ने मेरा मोबाइल फोन भी जांचा और मुझे जाने दिया। उसके बाद मैंने अपने बेटे को फिर कभी नहीं देखा। 11 मई को मैं दोबारा थाने गई क्योंकि मुझे पता था कि मेरा बेटा वहीं है, लेकिन इंस्पेक्टर नागराजू ने मुझे उससे मिलने नहीं दिया। उन्होंने मेरे साथ अभद्र व्यवहार किया और वहां से चले जाने को कहा। मैंने वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों से भी गुहार लगाई, लेकिन उन्होंने मेरी बात को नजरअंदाज करते हुए कहा कि मेरा बेटा पुलिस हिरासत में नहीं है।”
4 जून को हैबियस कॉर्पस याचिका दायर किए जाने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने विजयवाड़ा पुलिस को जांच कर रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करने के निर्देश दिए।
विजयलक्ष्मी द्वारा मुख्यमंत्री और उपमुख्यमंत्री के. पवन कल्याण से बार-बार की गई अपील के बाद राज्य सरकार ने बुधवार को इंस्पेक्टर नागराजू को रिजर्व पद पर स्थानांतरित कर दिया और बाद में उन्हें निलंबित कर दिया।
हत्या का मामला दर्ज
गुरुवार रात विजयवाड़ा पुलिस आयुक्त एस.वी. राजशेखर बाबू ने कृष्णालंका पुलिस स्टेशन को इंस्पेक्टर नागराजू के खिलाफ भारतीय न्याय संहिता (बीएनएस) की धारा 103(1) (हत्या), 238, 127(4) और 127(6) के तहत मामला दर्ज करने का निर्देश दिया।
सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त दैवा प्रसाद को इस मामले का जांच अधिकारी नियुक्त किया गया है। पुलिस आयुक्त ने कहा कि जांच में प्रगति होने के बाद अधिक जानकारी साझा की जाएगी।
परिवार ने हिरासत में मौत का लगाया आरोप
भावुक विजयलक्ष्मी ने अदालत और पुलिस प्रशासन से अपने बेटे के बारे में सच्चाई बताने की अपील की।
उन्होंने कहा, “अगर मेरा बेटा जीवित है तो उसे रिहा कर दीजिए। अगर उसकी मौत हो चुकी है तो उसका शव मुझे सौंप दीजिए। और यदि उसका अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया गया है, तो कम से कम उसकी अस्थियां ही दे दीजिए। मुझे किसी निष्कर्ष तक पहुंचने का अवसर दीजिए। एक महीने से अधिक समय हो गया है, मैं ठीक से न सो पाई हूं और न ही खाना खा पाई हूं।”
उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि उनके बेटे को पुलिस हिरासत में प्रताड़ित किया गया, चोटों के कारण उसकी मृत्यु हो गई और बाद में उसका गुप्त रूप से अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया गया।
विजयलक्ष्मी के वकील के.वी. आदित्य चौधरी ने कहा कि परिवार को आशंका है कि साई कृष्णा की प्रताड़ना के बाद मौत हो गई और उसके शव को ठिकाने लगा दिया गया।
राजनीतिक विवाद गहराया
हाईकोर्ट ने शुरुआत में कृष्णालंका थाना प्रभारी को 15 जून तक साई कृष्णा को अदालत में पेश करने का निर्देश दिया था। हालांकि, पुलिस की ओर से पेश हुए महाधिवक्ता डी. श्रीनिवास ने अदालत को बताया कि साई कृष्णा का कोई पता नहीं है और वह पुलिस हिरासत में नहीं है।
यह मामला अब बड़े राजनीतिक विवाद का रूप ले चुका है। वाईएसआर कांग्रेस पार्टी (वाईएसआरसीपी) ने पुलिस स्टेशन की सीसीटीवी फुटेज सार्वजनिक करने की मांग की है।
आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और वाईएसआरसीपी अध्यक्ष वाई.एस. जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने कथित हिरासत में मौत की सीबीआई जांच की मांग करते हुए दोषियों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की मांग की है।
जगन ने आरोप लगाया कि इस मामले में केवल निलंबित इंस्पेक्टर ही नहीं, बल्कि विजयवाड़ा पुलिस आयुक्त और राज्य के पुलिस महानिदेशक (डीजीपी) सहित कई वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी जवाबदेह हैं।
कृष्णालंका में साई कृष्णा के घर का दौरा करने के बाद जगन ने कहा कि इस घटना ने आंध्र प्रदेश में कानून-व्यवस्था की स्थिति पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं। उन्होंने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि साई कृष्णा के लापता होने और कथित मौत के बाद उसे माफिया सरगना या हिस्ट्रीशीटर के रूप में पेश करने की कोशिश की जा रही है।
मामले की जांच अभी जारी है और साई कृष्णा के वास्तविक ठिकाने को लेकर अब भी कोई आधिकारिक स्पष्टता नहीं है।
