Atiq Ahmed’s Youngest Son Abaan Killed in Jhansi Road Accident While Going to Meet Jailed Brother
Abaan Ahmed, the youngest son of slain mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, died in a road accident in Jhansi while travelling to meet his jailed brother. One more person was killed, and three others were injured.
Abaan, the youngest son of slain mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, died in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on Thursday while travelling to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is lodged in jail. \
Police confirmed that another occupant of the vehicle also lost his life, while three others sustained injuries.
According to police officials, 21-year-old Abaan was travelling in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) with four companions when the vehicle reportedly struck a road divider and overturned.
Emergency services rushed the occupants to a nearby hospital after the crash.
Hospital authorities declared one of Abaan’s companions, identified as Sonu, dead on arrival.
The remaining three injured passengers are receiving medical treatment, police said.
The survivors informed investigators that the group had left Prayagraj early in the morning with the intention of visiting Ali Ahmed, who is currently lodged in the Jhansi District Jail.
Abaan was the youngest among Atiq Ahmed’s five sons. His twin brother, Ahzam Ahmed, is presently staying at the family’s residence in Prayagraj.
The accident comes against the backdrop of a series of high-profile incidents involving the family.
In April 2023, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead while under police escort during a medical visit in Prayagraj.
The brothers had been taken to Dufferin Hospital for a routine medical examination when three men, posing as journalists, approached them and opened fire at close range.
The attackers surrendered immediately after the shooting, bringing an end to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most notorious criminal networks.
Just weeks before that incident, Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed was killed in a police encounter in Jhansi.
He was wanted in connection with the February 2023 murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police security personnel, Sandeep Nishad and Raghvendra Singh, in Prayagraj.
Investigators had alleged that the attack on Umesh Pal was carried out in broad daylight outside his residence, during which armed assailants fired multiple rounds and allegedly used crude explosives.
Police records also show that Atiq Ahmed’s wife, Shaista Parveen, along with his sister and sister-in-law, remain wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case.
A reward of ₹50,000 has been announced on each of them.
Two of Atiq Ahmed’s other sons, Ali Ahmed and Mohammad Umar, are currently lodged in jails in Jhansi and Lucknow, respectively.
Atiq Ahmed had faced more than 100 criminal cases during his lifetime, while his brother Ashraf Ahmed was also named in numerous criminal investigations over the years.

दिवंगत माफिया अतीक अहमद के सबसे छोटे बेटे अबान अहमद की झांसी में सड़क दुर्घटना में मौत हो गई। वह जेल में बंद अपने भाई अली अहमद से मिलने जा रहा था। हादसे में एक अन्य युवक की भी जान गई और तीन लोग घायल हुए।
माफिया से राजनेता बने दिवंगत अतीक अहमद के सबसे छोटे बेटे अबान अहमद की गुरुवार को उत्तर प्रदेश के झांसी में एक सड़क दुर्घटना में मृत्यु हो गई।
वह अपने बड़े भाई अली अहमद से मुलाकात करने जा रहा था, जो फिलहाल झांसी जेल में बंद है। पुलिस के अनुसार हादसे में उसके एक साथी की भी जान चली गई, जबकि तीन अन्य घायल हो गए।
पुलिस अधिकारियों ने बताया कि 21 वर्षीय अबान अपने चार साथियों के साथ एक एसयूवी में यात्रा कर रहा था। प्रारंभिक जांच के अनुसार वाहन सड़क के डिवाइडर से टकराने के बाद पलट गया।
सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस और राहत दल मौके पर पहुंचे तथा सभी घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया।
अस्पताल में चिकित्सकों ने अबान के साथी सोनू को भी मृत घोषित कर दिया। हादसे में घायल अन्य तीन लोगों का उपचार जारी है।
घायलों ने पुलिस को बताया कि वे गुरुवार सुबह प्रयागराज से झांसी के लिए रवाना हुए थे। उनका उद्देश्य झांसी जिला कारागार में बंद अली अहमद से मुलाकात करना था।
अबान अतीक अहमद के पांच बेटों में सबसे छोटा था। उसका जुड़वां भाई अहजम अहमद इस समय प्रयागराज स्थित पारिवारिक आवास पर रह रहा है।
यह हादसा अतीक अहमद के परिवार से जुड़े कई चर्चित घटनाक्रमों के बाद सामने आया है।
अप्रैल 2023 में अतीक अहमद और उसके भाई अशरफ अहमद की प्रयागराज में पुलिस अभिरक्षा के दौरान गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई थी।
दोनों को चिकित्सकीय परीक्षण के लिए डफरिन अस्पताल ले जाया गया था, जहां पत्रकार बनकर पहुंचे तीन हमलावरों ने नजदीक से गोलीबारी कर दी।
घटना के बाद आरोपियों ने मौके पर ही आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया था।
इस हमले के साथ उत्तर प्रदेश के सबसे चर्चित आपराधिक गिरोहों में से एक का अंत माना गया।
इससे कुछ सप्ताह पहले अतीक अहमद का बेटा असद अहमद झांसी में पुलिस मुठभेड़ में मारा गया था।
वह फरवरी 2023 में प्रयागराज में अधिवक्ता उमेश पाल तथा उनके दो पुलिस सुरक्षा कर्मियों—संदीप निषाद और राघवेंद्र सिंह—की हत्या के मामले में वांछित था।
जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार उमेश पाल पर उनके घर के बाहर दिनदहाड़े हमला किया गया था, जिसमें हमलावरों ने अंधाधुंध गोलीबारी की थी और कथित रूप से देसी बमों का भी इस्तेमाल किया था।
पुलिस अभिलेखों के अनुसार उमेश पाल हत्याकांड में अतीक अहमद की पत्नी शाइस्ता परवीन, उसकी बहन तथा भाभी भी वांछित हैं। इन तीनों पर ₹50,000-₹50,000 का इनाम घोषित है।
अतीक अहमद के दो अन्य बेटे अली अहमद और मोहम्मद उमर वर्तमान में क्रमशः झांसी और लखनऊ की जेलों में निरुद्ध हैं।
अतीक अहमद के विरुद्ध जीवनकाल में 100 से अधिक आपराधिक मामले दर्ज रहे, जबकि उसके भाई अशरफ अहमद के खिलाफ भी अनेक गंभीर मुकदमे लंबित रहे थे।
