Rahul Gandhi’s Prayagraj Student Event Faces Venue Cancellation; Congress Alleges Political Pressure
Days before Rahul Gandhi’s student interaction in Prayagraj, the KP Trust cancelled the booked venue despite prior approval and payment. Congress says the programme will proceed as scheduled.
Prayagraj: Just days before Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s proposed interaction with students in Prayagraj under the party’s “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign, the venue earmarked for the programme has become the centre of a dispute after the managing trust revoked the booking despite the Congress claiming it had secured prior approval and deposited the prescribed booking amount.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee claims it had submitted an application dated July 30 seeking reservation of the Chaudhary Nehal Singh Cricket Academy ground from August 4 to August 8.
The venue was intended for preparations and for Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled address to students on August 8.
Official notings on the application show that permission had initially been granted for five days to facilitate the erection and removal of the event infrastructure.
The approval was reportedly subject to payment of ₹50,000 towards ground maintenance, cleaning and levelling charges.
Records also indicate that the Congress transferred ₹51,000 through the NEFT payment system, and a receipt acknowledging the transaction was issued by the sports complex authorities.
However, in a communication issued on Wednesday, the Kayastha Pathshala (KP) Trust cancelled the earlier permission.
The trust cited an Allahabad High Court direction that academic activities should not be adversely affected and stated that organising the event during the monsoon could interfere with the functioning of two educational institutions located on the campus.
The trust further stated that heavy rainfall could damage the playground, requiring several days for restoration before students could resume normal activities.
It suggested that the programme be organised either after the monsoon season or during school vacations.
The communication also informed the Congress that the advance payment would be refunded.
Congress leaders confirmed that the Prayagraj District Congress Committee received the cancellation letter on Wednesday from the KP Trust, which administers the ground.
Party representatives said preparations for the event had already commenced after the booking was confirmed and the advance amount deposited.
According to Congress sources, discussions are underway with the district administration to identify an alternative venue.
The party maintained that Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with students would take place on August 8 as scheduled, even if the location had to be changed.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai said the party had completed all required formalities, including obtaining permission and depositing the prescribed amount.
He questioned the decision to revoke the booking, pointing out that a marriage function had recently been organised at the same venue without any reported objections.
According to Rai, if there were genuine concerns, permission should not have been granted initially.
Raising allegations of political interference, Rai claimed that the cancellation was intended to prevent Rahul Gandhi from addressing students in Prayagraj.
He asserted that the Congress leader would visit the city and participate in the programme irrespective of the venue-related developments.
The Congress also indicated that if the KP Trust ground remains unavailable, it would seek permission to use one of the nearby grounds.
Party leaders reiterated that the student outreach programme would proceed as planned, with only the venue changing if necessary.
राहुल गांधी के प्रयागराज छात्र संवाद कार्यक्रम पर स्थल विवाद, केपी ट्रस्ट ने रद्द की मैदान की अनुमति
प्रयागराज में राहुल गांधी के छात्र संवाद कार्यक्रम से पहले केपी ट्रस्ट ने बुक किया गया मैदान रद्द कर दिया। कांग्रेस ने राजनीतिक दबाव का आरोप लगाते हुए कहा कि कार्यक्रम निर्धारित तिथि पर हर हाल में होगा।
लोकसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष राहुल गांधी के कांग्रेस के “छात्रों की गूंज” अभियान के तहत प्रस्तावित प्रयागराज छात्र संवाद कार्यक्रम से कुछ दिन पहले आयोजन स्थल को लेकर विवाद खड़ा हो गया है।
कांग्रेस का दावा है कि उसने पहले से अनुमति प्राप्त कर निर्धारित राशि जमा कर दी थी, इसके बावजूद मैदान का प्रबंधन करने वाले ट्रस्ट ने बुकिंग निरस्त कर दी।
दस्तावेजों के अनुसार उत्तर प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी ने 30 जुलाई को आवेदन देकर चौधरी नौनिहाल सिंह क्रिकेट अकादमी मैदान को 4 अगस्त से 8 अगस्त तक आरक्षित करने का अनुरोध किया था।
इसी परिसर में 8 अगस्त को राहुल गांधी का छात्रों को संबोधित करने का कार्यक्रम प्रस्तावित था।
आवेदन पर दर्ज आधिकारिक टिप्पणियों से पता चलता है कि आयोजन की तैयारियों, पंडाल निर्माण और उसके बाद संरचना हटाने के लिए पांच दिनों की अनुमति दी गई थी।
इसके लिए मैदान की सफाई और समतलीकरण के मद में ₹50,000 जमा कराने की शर्त भी निर्धारित की गई थी।
दस्तावेजों के अनुसार कांग्रेस ने एनईएफटी के माध्यम से ₹51,000 का भुगतान किया, जिसकी रसीद भी खेल परिसर की ओर से जारी की गई।
हालांकि बुधवार को जारी पत्र में कायस्थ पाठशाला (केपी) ट्रस्ट ने पूर्व में दी गई अनुमति वापस ले ली।
ट्रस्ट ने इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट के उस निर्देश का हवाला दिया, जिसमें शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों को बाधित नहीं होने देने की बात कही गई है।
ट्रस्ट का कहना है कि प्रस्तावित आयोजन से परिसर में संचालित दो शिक्षण संस्थानों की नियमित पढ़ाई प्रभावित हो सकती है।
पत्र में यह भी कहा गया कि मानसून के दौरान बड़े आयोजन से खेल मैदान को नुकसान पहुंचने की आशंका है और उसकी मरम्मत तथा पुनर्स्थापना में कई दिन लग सकते हैं, जिससे विद्यार्थियों की गतिविधियां प्रभावित होंगी।
ट्रस्ट ने सुझाव दिया कि कार्यक्रम वर्षा ऋतु समाप्त होने के बाद या विद्यालयी अवकाश के दौरान आयोजित किया जाए। साथ ही कांग्रेस को अग्रिम जमा राशि वापस करने की भी जानकारी दी गई।
कांग्रेस नेताओं ने पुष्टि की कि मैदान का संचालन करने वाले केपी ट्रस्ट की ओर से अनुमति निरस्त किए जाने का पत्र बुधवार को प्रयागराज जिला कांग्रेस कमेटी को प्राप्त हुआ।
पार्टी का कहना है कि तब तक कार्यक्रम की तैयारियां शुरू हो चुकी थीं और बुकिंग की प्रक्रिया पूरी कर अग्रिम भुगतान भी किया जा चुका था।
पार्टी सूत्रों के अनुसार वैकल्पिक स्थल उपलब्ध कराने के लिए जिला प्रशासन से बातचीत जारी है।
कांग्रेस का कहना है कि राहुल गांधी का छात्रों के साथ संवाद निर्धारित तिथि 8 अगस्त को हर हाल में आयोजित किया जाएगा, चाहे आयोजन स्थल बदलना पड़े।
उत्तर प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष अजय राय ने कहा कि पार्टी ने सभी औपचारिकताएं पूरी की थीं, अनुमति भी प्राप्त की थी और निर्धारित राशि भी जमा कर दी थी।
उन्होंने सवाल उठाया कि यदि मैदान उपलब्ध कराने में कोई समस्या थी तो शुरुआत में अनुमति ही क्यों दी गई।
राय ने यह भी कहा कि कुछ समय पहले उसी मैदान पर एक विवाह समारोह आयोजित हुआ था, जिस पर कोई आपत्ति नहीं उठाई गई थी।
अजय राय ने आरोप लगाया कि अनुमति रद्द करने के पीछे राजनीतिक दबाव काम कर रहा है और इसका उद्देश्य राहुल गांधी को प्रयागराज में छात्रों को संबोधित करने से रोकना है।
उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस नेता निर्धारित कार्यक्रम के अनुसार प्रयागराज आएंगे और छात्रों से संवाद करेंगे।
कांग्रेस ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि यदि केपी ट्रस्ट का मैदान उपलब्ध नहीं हो पाता है तो आसपास स्थित अन्य मैदानों के लिए अनुमति मांगी जाएगी।
पार्टी नेताओं ने दोहराया कि कार्यक्रम अपने तय कार्यक्रम के अनुसार आयोजित होगा, भले ही स्थान में परिवर्तन करना पड़े।
