Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Probe: Silver Handling, Security Lapses and Trust Procedures Under Fresh Police Scrutiny
Fresh developments have emerged in the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, with investigators now examining the Trust’s financial records in greater detail.
Among the transactions drawing attention is the Trust’s claim that more than 900 kilograms of donated silver was transported to the government-run Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL) in Hyderabad for purity assessment before being converted into silver bricks.
Officials familiar with the investigation said the entire process of transporting the precious metal under tight security and completing the testing procedure involved considerable expenditure.
Investigators are now verifying whether every stage of the exercise was carried out in accordance with the documented records.
According to officials, over ₹1 lakh was reportedly spent on the secure transportation of the silver consignment to Hyderabad.
In addition, nearly ₹20 lakh is believed to have been incurred for laboratory testing, removal of impurities and converting the metal into standardised silver bricks, making them easier to preserve and manage.
Sources revealed that details regarding this exercise were placed before the Trust during meetings held in November 2024 and again in March 2025.
During those discussions, members had also suggested establishing a separate, transparent mechanism inside the Ram Temple complex for accepting valuable ornaments and issuing receipts to devotees seeking formal acknowledgement of their donations.
Officials said the Trust had informed its members that nearly 1,000 kilograms of silver received in different forms from devotees had been dispatched to the Hyderabad-based government mint for examination.
After impurities were removed during the refining process, the final quantity was said to have been reduced to nearly 900 kilograms. Sample testing reportedly indicated that the refined silver had an approximate purity level of around 90 per cent.
Investigators are now verifying the expenditure reportedly exceeding ₹20 lakh that was incurred during the sampling, purity verification and melting process.
Apart from confirming these financial claims, police are also reviewing the procedures adopted by the Trust for handling jewellery and other valuable offerings received from devotees.
The inquiry has also highlighted possible shortcomings in the temple’s security arrangements.
Officials disclosed that nearly six weeks ago, a comprehensive review of the security infrastructure was undertaken to strengthen safety measures across the premises.
However, despite enhanced deployment in several locations, security immediately outside the donation counting room allegedly continued to rely on a private security guard without the support of an X-ray screening system.
The issue of creating a transparent and accountable system for depositing ornaments is expected to return to the agenda during the Trust’s meeting scheduled for Monday.
According to sources, several members are likely to renew their demand for a foolproof mechanism covering donation collection, counting, and bank deposits.
They believe greater transparency is essential to rebuild public confidence and reassure devotees about the safety and accountability of their offerings.

श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट में दान की कथित अनियमितताओं की जांच अब वित्तीय रिकॉर्ड तक पहुंच गई है। पुलिस और जांच एजेंसियां विशेष रूप से उस दावे की पड़ताल कर रही हैं,
जिसमें कहा गया था कि श्रद्धालुओं से प्राप्त 900 किलोग्राम से अधिक चांदी को शुद्धता की जांच के लिए हैदराबाद स्थित सरकारी उपक्रम सिक्योरिटी प्रिंटिंग एंड मिंटिंग कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड (एसपीएमसीआईएल) भेजा गया था, जहां उसे गलाकर चांदी की ईंटों का रूप दिया गया।
जांच से जुड़े अधिकारियों के अनुसार, इतनी बड़ी मात्रा में कीमती धातु को कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच हैदराबाद पहुंचाने और पूरी परीक्षण प्रक्रिया को पूरा करने में उल्लेखनीय खर्च हुआ था। अब पुलिस इस पूरी प्रक्रिया से जुड़े प्रत्येक दावे और वित्तीय रिकॉर्ड का मिलान कर रही है।
अधिकारियों का कहना है कि केवल चांदी को सुरक्षित तरीके से हैदराबाद पहुंचाने पर ही एक लाख रुपये से अधिक खर्च किए गए थे।
इसके अलावा अशुद्धियों की जांच, नमूना परीक्षण, परिशोधन और चांदी को ईंटों में परिवर्तित करने की प्रक्रिया पर लगभग 20 लाख रुपये खर्च होने का दावा किया गया है, ताकि उसके रखरखाव और संरक्षण को आसान बनाया जा सके।
सूत्रों के मुताबिक इस पूरी प्रक्रिया का उल्लेख ट्रस्ट की नवंबर 2024 और मार्च 2025 में आयोजित बैठकों में भी किया गया था।
उन्हीं बैठकों में मंदिर परिसर के भीतर बहुमूल्य आभूषण जमा कराने तथा रसीद प्राप्त करने के इच्छुक श्रद्धालुओं के लिए एक अलग और जवाबदेह व्यवस्था विकसित करने का सुझाव भी रखा गया था।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार ट्रस्ट ने बैठक में जानकारी दी थी कि विभिन्न स्वरूपों में प्राप्त लगभग 1,000 किलोग्राम चांदी को सरकारी टकसाल इकाई, हैदराबाद भेजा गया था।
परिशोधन के दौरान अशुद्धियां अलग होने के बाद इसका शुद्ध वजन लगभग 900 किलोग्राम रह गया। नमूनों की जांच में इस चांदी की शुद्धता करीब 90 प्रतिशत पाई गई थी।
पुलिस अब उस दावे की भी पुष्टि कर रही है कि नमूना परीक्षण, शुद्धता की जांच और चांदी को गलाकर ईंटों में बदलने की पूरी प्रक्रिया पर 20 लाख रुपये से अधिक खर्च हुए थे। इसके साथ-साथ यह भी जांचा जा रहा है कि ट्रस्ट द्वारा प्राप्त अन्य आभूषणों और मूल्यवान चढ़ावे का प्रबंधन किस प्रकार किया गया।
जांच के दौरान मंदिर परिसर की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को लेकर भी कुछ महत्वपूर्ण सवाल सामने आए हैं। अधिकारियों के अनुसार करीब डेढ़ महीने पहले सुरक्षा प्रणाली की व्यापक समीक्षा की गई थी और कई स्थानों पर अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए थे।
इसके बावजूद दान गिनने वाले कक्ष के बाहर सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी केवल एक निजी सुरक्षा कर्मी के पास थी और वहां एक्स-रे स्कैनिंग मशीन जैसी आधुनिक व्यवस्था उपलब्ध नहीं थी।
सोमवार को प्रस्तावित ट्रस्ट की बैठक में दान प्रणाली को अधिक पारदर्शी बनाने का मुद्दा फिर से उठने की संभावना है। सूत्रों का कहना है कि कुछ सदस्य मंदिर में आभूषण जमा करने, दान की गिनती और बैंक में जमा करने की पूरी प्रक्रिया के लिए एक मजबूत, पारदर्शी और पूर्णतः जवाबदेह व्यवस्था लागू करने की मांग दोबारा रख सकते हैं।
उनका मानना है कि ऐसी प्रणाली से श्रद्धालुओं का भरोसा दोबारा मजबूत होगा और दान प्रबंधन में पारदर्शिता सुनिश्चित की जा सकेगी।
