Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam: Bar Association Boycotts Accused, Warns Lawyers Against Defending Them
The Ayodhya Bar Association (ABA) on Monday announced a complete boycott of the eight individuals arrested in the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case.
The association declared that no advocate affiliated with the Bar would represent the accused in court. It also warned that any lawyer violating the decision would face a penalty of ₹5 lakh.
The decision was taken during a specially convened meeting attended by the Association’s office-bearers and members.
After detailed deliberations, the gathering unanimously resolved not to provide any legal assistance to the accused, describing the alleged offence as an act that had deeply hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus.
Explaining the resolution, an office-bearer of the Bar Association said the accused had allegedly committed the crime despite being entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the temple and handling devotees’ offerings.
According to him, the alleged misuse of donations within the temple premises amounted to a serious breach of public trust and faith.
Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra told reporters that instead of appearing on behalf of the accused, a group of advocates from the association would extend legal assistance to the prosecution to ensure that the case is effectively pursued in court.
He said the legal fraternity stood united in seeking strict action against those found guilty.
The meeting also witnessed strong reactions from several lawyers over the controversy.
Some advocates proposed launching a protest if Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s former General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, who submitted their resignations two days ago, did not leave Ayodhya in the coming days.
However, no final decision regarding the proposed agitation was announced after the meeting.
So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the alleged embezzlement case.
The accused include Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Ramashankar Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Manish Kumar Yadav, Subhash Srivastava and Karunesh Pandey.
Police are continuing their investigation into the alleged diversion of cash and valuables donated by devotees at the Ram Temple.
The arrested accused are scheduled to be produced before a special court later on Monday. Investigators are expected to seek further legal proceedings as the probe into the high-profile case continues.

राम मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाए गए दान के कथित गबन मामले ने अब कानूनी जगत में भी तीखी प्रतिक्रिया पैदा कर दी है। अयोध्या बार एसोसिएशन (एबीए) ने सोमवार को घोषणा की कि इस मामले में गिरफ्तार सभी आठ आरोपियों का पूर्ण बहिष्कार किया जाएगा।
एसोसिएशन ने साफ कहा कि कोई भी सदस्य अधिवक्ता आरोपियों की ओर से अदालत में पैरवी नहीं करेगा। यदि कोई वकील इस निर्णय का उल्लंघन करता है तो उस पर पांच लाख रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया जाएगा।
यह फैसला बार एसोसिएशन के पदाधिकारियों और सदस्यों की विशेष बैठक में सर्वसम्मति से लिया गया। लंबी चर्चा के बाद अधिवक्ताओं ने निर्णय किया कि आरोपियों को किसी प्रकार की कानूनी सहायता उपलब्ध नहीं कराई जाएगी।
उनका कहना था कि कथित घटना ने करोड़ों हिंदुओं की धार्मिक भावनाओं को गहरी ठेस पहुंचाई है।
बैठक के बाद एक पदाधिकारी ने बताया कि जिन लोगों पर आरोप लगे हैं, उन्हें मंदिर की व्यवस्था और श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाए गए दान की सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई थी।
ऐसे में यदि उन्हीं लोगों ने कथित रूप से मंदिर परिसर के भीतर दान की राशि और बहुमूल्य वस्तुओं का दुरुपयोग किया है, तो यह केवल आर्थिक अपराध नहीं बल्कि आस्था और विश्वास के साथ गंभीर विश्वासघात भी है।
बार एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष कालिका प्रसाद मिश्रा ने पत्रकारों से बातचीत में कहा कि एसोसिएशन के अधिवक्ता आरोपियों की पैरवी करने के बजाय अभियोजन पक्ष की सहायता करेंगे, ताकि मामले की प्रभावी ढंग से सुनवाई हो सके और दोषियों के खिलाफ कड़ी कानूनी कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित की जा सके।
उन्होंने कहा कि अधिवक्ता समाज इस मुद्दे पर एकजुट है।
बैठक के दौरान कई अधिवक्ताओं ने इस मामले को लेकर कड़ा रुख अपनाने की भी मांग की। कुछ वकीलों ने सुझाव दिया कि यदि श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट के पूर्व महासचिव चंपत राय और ट्रस्टी अनिल मिश्रा, जिन्होंने दो दिन पहले अपने पदों से इस्तीफा दिया था, जल्द अयोध्या नहीं छोड़ते हैं तो आंदोलन शुरू करने का आह्वान किया जाना चाहिए।
हालांकि इस प्रस्ताव पर फिलहाल कोई अंतिम निर्णय नहीं लिया गया।
अब तक इस मामले में कुल आठ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है। गिरफ्तार आरोपियों में रामशंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू, लवकुश मिश्रा, अनुकल्प मिश्रा, रामाशंकर मिश्रा, अविनाश शुक्ला, मनीष कुमार यादव, सुभाष श्रीवास्तव और करुणेश पांडेय शामिल हैं।
पुलिस श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाई गई नकदी और कीमती सामान के कथित गबन के पूरे नेटवर्क की गहराई से जांच कर रही है।
गिरफ्तार किए गए सभी आरोपियों को सोमवार को विशेष अदालत में पेश किया जाना है। माना जा रहा है कि जांच एजेंसियां मामले में आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई के लिए अदालत से आवश्यक आदेश मांग सकती हैं, जबकि इस बहुचर्चित प्रकरण की जांच अभी भी जारी है।
