Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam: Police Raid Homes of Eight Accused as Probe Deepens
The investigation into the alleged embezzlement of cash and valuables donated at the Ram Temple gathered momentum on Sunday as the Ayodhya police carried out simultaneous searches at the residences of all eight arrested accused.
The coordinated operation came two days after the suspects were taken into custody on charges of theft, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of offerings made by devotees.
All eight accused are presently lodged in judicial custody.
Senior police officials said the search operation was conducted as part of the ongoing investigation to collect documentary and material evidence related to the alleged scam.
According to investigators, the exercise was aimed at strengthening the case by tracing financial records and other relevant clues that could establish the alleged diversion of temple donations.
The raids were conducted just a day before the accused were scheduled to be produced before the court after completing their three-day judicial custody.
For the operation, the police formed eight separate teams comprising both male and female personnel.
Before entering the houses, officers verified the residential addresses of each accused and then simultaneously launched searches at their respective premises across Ayodhya.
During the course of the investigation, the police had earlier claimed to have recovered ₹79.80 lakh from seven of the eight arrested individuals.
Those arrested include Avinash Shukla, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav, alias Tinnu Yadav, and Subhash Srivastava.
Investigators, however, stated that no cash, jewellery or other valuables were recovered from the possession of Subhash Srivastava.
The first search was carried out at the residence of the prime accused, Ram Shankar Yadav, popularly known as Tinnu Yadav.
According to the police, he was employed as the driver of Champat Rai, who had stepped down as the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Investigators alleged that Tinnu Yadav had been associated with the temple’s internal operations ever since the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol, making him a key figure in the ongoing investigation.
Another accused, Subhash Srivastava, is a retired bank employee who was reportedly responsible for supervising the donation-counting process at the temple’s Pilgrim Facility Centre.
Police sources said the remaining six accused were assigned the duty of counting cash and valuables offered by devotees at the shrine. Investigators are examining whether the alleged financial irregularities occurred during this process.
Officials have so far not disclosed whether Sunday’s searches resulted in the recovery of any fresh documents, cash or incriminating evidence.
They maintained that the investigation is still underway and details of any seizure will be revealed only after proper scrutiny and verification.
Meanwhile, the police are preparing to widen the scope of the investigation by conducting similar searches at the accused persons’ native residences located in districts outside Ayodhya.
Investigators believe additional evidence linked to the alleged misappropriation of temple donations may be unearthed during these operations, which could provide further leads in the high-profile case.

राम मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाई गई नकदी और कीमती सामान के कथित गबन मामले में अयोध्या पुलिस ने जांच तेज करते हुए रविवार को सभी आठ गिरफ्तार आरोपियों के घरों पर एक साथ तलाशी अभियान चलाया।
यह कार्रवाई आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी के दो दिन बाद की गई। इन सभी पर मंदिर में आए चढ़ावे की रकम और बहुमूल्य वस्तुओं की कथित चोरी, गबन और धन के दुरुपयोग के आरोप हैं। फिलहाल सभी आरोपी न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं और मामले की जांच लगातार आगे बढ़ रही है।
पुलिस के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के अनुसार यह तलाशी अभियान जांच का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा था। इसका उद्देश्य ऐसे दस्तावेज, वित्तीय रिकॉर्ड और अन्य साक्ष्य जुटाना था, जिनसे मंदिर में चढ़ाए गए दान के कथित गबन से जुड़े तथ्यों की पुष्टि की जा सके। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि जांच एजेंसियां पूरे मामले की हर कड़ी को जोड़ने में जुटी हैं।
यह संयुक्त कार्रवाई उस समय की गई, जब तीन दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत पूरी होने के बाद सोमवार को आरोपियों को अदालत में पेश किया जाना था। अभियान को सफल बनाने के लिए पुलिस ने आठ अलग-अलग टीमें गठित कीं, जिनमें महिला और पुरुष दोनों पुलिसकर्मियों को शामिल किया गया। सभी टीमों ने पहले आरोपियों के पते का सत्यापन किया और इसके बाद एक साथ उनके घरों पर तलाशी शुरू की।
जांच के दौरान पुलिस पहले ही दावा कर चुकी है कि गिरफ्तार किए गए आठ आरोपियों में से सात के पास से कुल 79.80 लाख रुपये बरामद किए गए हैं। गिरफ्तार लोगों में अविनाश शुक्ला, लवकुश मिश्रा, अनुकल्प मिश्रा, मनीष कुमार यादव, करुणेश पांडेय, रामाशंकर मिश्रा, राम शंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू यादव तथा सुभाष श्रीवास्तव शामिल हैं। हालांकि पुलिस के मुताबिक सुभाष श्रीवास्तव के पास से कोई नकदी, आभूषण या अन्य कीमती सामान बरामद नहीं हुआ।
जांच के दौरान पुलिस सबसे पहले मुख्य आरोपी राम शंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू यादव के घर पहुंची। पुलिस के अनुसार वह चंपत राय के चालक के रूप में कार्यरत था। जांच एजेंसियों का आरोप है कि रामलला की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा के बाद से वह मंदिर के आंतरिक संचालन से जुड़े विभिन्न कार्यों में सक्रिय रूप से शामिल रहा था। इसी कारण उसे इस पूरे मामले का अहम किरदार माना जा रहा है।
एक अन्य आरोपी सुभाष श्रीवास्तव, जो सेवानिवृत्त बैंक कर्मचारी हैं, मंदिर परिसर स्थित पिलग्रिम फैसिलिटी सेंटर में दान की राशि की गिनती की निगरानी करते थे। पुलिस के अनुसार बाकी छह आरोपी श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाई गई नकदी और अन्य बहुमूल्य वस्तुओं की गिनती का काम संभालते थे। अब जांच एजेंसियां यह पता लगाने का प्रयास कर रही हैं कि कथित अनियमितताएं इसी प्रक्रिया के दौरान हुईं या नहीं।
रविवार को हुई तलाशी के दौरान क्या कोई नया दस्तावेज, नकदी या अन्य महत्वपूर्ण साक्ष्य बरामद हुए हैं, इस संबंध में पुलिस ने फिलहाल कोई आधिकारिक जानकारी साझा नहीं की है। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि बरामद सामग्री की जांच और सत्यापन पूरा होने के बाद ही विस्तृत जानकारी सार्वजनिक की जाएगी।
इधर, पुलिस अब इस जांच का दायरा अयोध्या से बाहर भी बढ़ाने की तैयारी में है। अधिकारियों के अनुसार आरोपियों के पैतृक घरों और अन्य ठिकानों पर भी जल्द ही तलाशी अभियान चलाया जाएगा। जांच एजेंसियों को उम्मीद है कि इन स्थानों से ऐसे अतिरिक्त साक्ष्य मिल सकते हैं, जो राम मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाए गए दान के कथित गबन की जांच को और मजबूत करेंगे।
