Badrinath Temple Donation Row: BKTC Orders Probe Into Alleged Misuse of Offerings After Social Media Claims
The Shri Badarinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has ordered a formal investigation into allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged misappropriation of donations and offerings at Shri Badrinath Dham.
The committee said the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, considering the deep religious faith associated with the shrine and the sentiments of millions of devotees.
According to a BKTC official, the allegations were raised by the Dehradun-based Bhairav Sena, which claimed that an employee posted at Shri Badrinath Dham had siphoned off donation money and offerings.
Although the organisation did not submit any supporting evidence for its claims, the Temple Committee decided to initiate an inquiry to ascertain the facts.
Officials responsible for counting donations have also been directed to submit their explanations as part of the investigation.
BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi said the committee could not ignore the allegations because they concern a highly sensitive issue linked to the trust and faith of devotees.
He stated that a dedicated inquiry panel has been constituted to conduct a thorough examination of the claims and submit its findings.
Dwivedi further assured that the investigation would be carried out transparently and that the inquiry report would be made public.
He said that if any individual is found guilty of financial irregularities or misconduct, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law and committee regulations.
The BKTC Chairman also responded to social media posts alleging that his “personal assistant” was involved in the alleged embezzlement. Rejecting the claim, Dwivedi clarified that he does not have a personal secretary.
He explained that the employee being referred to is a regular BKTC staff member who has previously served as personal secretary to three former chairpersons.
However, he added that if the allegations are substantiated during the inquiry, appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against the employee.
BKTC Chief Executive Officer Sohan Singh Rangar said CCTV footage from cameras installed within the Badrinath temple premises was examined on Friday as part of the preliminary inquiry.
However, officials did not find any conclusive evidence in the recordings to support the allegations at this stage.
The CEO also stated that if the investigation uncovers any irregularities or evidence of wrongdoing, legal as well as departmental action will be taken against those responsible under the provisions of the Shri Badarinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Act, 1939, along with the applicable employee conduct rules.
Sources associated with the committee said the room where donation money is counted is under constant surveillance and is monitored through five CCTV cameras, providing continuous video coverage during the counting process.

श्री बदरीनाथ-केदारनाथ मंदिर समिति (बीकेटीसी) ने बदरीनाथ धाम में चढ़ावे और दान राशि के कथित दुरुपयोग से जुड़े सोशल मीडिया पर प्रसारित आरोपों की औपचारिक जांच के आदेश दिए हैं।
समिति ने कहा कि यह मामला करोड़ों श्रद्धालुओं की आस्था और विश्वास से जुड़ा हुआ है, इसलिए इसकी निष्पक्ष और गंभीरता से जांच कराई जाएगी।
बीकेटीसी के एक अधिकारी के अनुसार, देहरादून स्थित भैरव सेना ने आरोप लगाया था कि श्री बदरीनाथ धाम में तैनात एक कर्मचारी चढ़ावे और दान की राशि में गड़बड़ी कर रहा है।
हालांकि संगठन की ओर से इन आरोपों के समर्थन में कोई ठोस साक्ष्य प्रस्तुत नहीं किया गया, फिर भी मंदिर समिति ने पूरे मामले की सच्चाई सामने लाने के लिए जांच शुरू करने का निर्णय लिया। साथ ही चढ़ावे की गणना से जुड़े कर्मचारियों से भी स्पष्टीकरण मांगा गया है।
बीकेटीसी के अध्यक्ष हेमंत द्विवेदी ने कहा कि समिति ने इन आरोपों को अत्यंत गंभीरता से लिया है क्योंकि यह विषय करोड़ों श्रद्धालुओं की धार्मिक भावनाओं और विश्वास से जुड़ा हुआ है।
उन्होंने बताया कि आरोपों की विस्तृत जांच के लिए एक विशेष समिति का गठन किया गया है, जो सभी तथ्यों की निष्पक्ष पड़ताल करेगी।
उन्होंने यह भी भरोसा दिलाया कि जांच प्रक्रिया पूरी पारदर्शिता के साथ संपन्न की जाएगी और उसकी रिपोर्ट सार्वजनिक की जाएगी। यदि जांच में किसी भी व्यक्ति की संलिप्तता या वित्तीय अनियमितता सामने आती है, तो उसके खिलाफ कानून और समिति के नियमों के तहत कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
सोशल मीडिया पर लगाए गए उन आरोपों पर भी अध्यक्ष हेमंत द्विवेदी ने प्रतिक्रिया दी, जिनमें उनके कथित “निजी सचिव” के शामिल होने की बात कही गई थी।
उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि उनका कोई निजी सचिव नहीं है। जिस कर्मचारी का उल्लेख किया जा रहा है, वह बीकेटीसी का नियमित कर्मचारी है और पूर्व में तीन अलग-अलग अध्यक्षों के साथ निजी सचिव के रूप में कार्य कर चुका है।
उन्होंने कहा कि यदि जांच में उसके खिलाफ लगाए गए आरोप सही पाए जाते हैं, तो उसके विरुद्ध भी नियमानुसार कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
बीकेटीसी के मुख्य कार्याधिकारी सोहन सिंह रंगड़ ने बताया कि प्रारंभिक जांच के तहत शुक्रवार को बदरीनाथ मंदिर परिसर में लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों की रिकॉर्डिंग की समीक्षा की गई। हालांकि अब तक उपलब्ध फुटेज में ऐसा कोई ठोस प्रमाण नहीं मिला है, जिससे सोशल मीडिया पर लगाए गए आरोपों की पुष्टि हो सके।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि यदि जांच के दौरान किसी प्रकार की अनियमितता या गड़बड़ी सामने आती है, तो दोषियों के विरुद्ध श्री बदरीनाथ-केदारनाथ मंदिर समिति अधिनियम, 1939 तथा कर्मचारी आचरण नियमों के तहत कानूनी और विभागीय कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
समिति से जुड़े सूत्रों के अनुसार, जिस कक्ष में चढ़ावे की राशि की गणना की जाती है, वहां पूरे समय निगरानी के लिए पांच सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगाए गए हैं, ताकि पूरी प्रक्रिया पर लगातार नजर रखी जा सके।
