UP Assembly Elections 2027: NDA Allies Seek Bigger Role, Push for Wider Seat Sharing and Better Coordination
As preparations gather pace for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, negotiations over seat-sharing within the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are expected to be far more complex than in previous elections.
Alliance partners have reportedly sought the opportunity to contest seats beyond their traditional areas of influence and have urged the BJP leadership to strengthen coordination among party workers at the district and constituency levels.
During the second day of his visit to Lucknow, BJP national president Nitin Nabin held discussions with representatives of key NDA allies, including Apna Dal (Sonelal), the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and the Nishad Party.
The meeting focused on election strategy, organisational coordination and preparations for the 2027 Assembly polls.
According to sources, Nabin advised alliance partners to avoid staking early claims on individual constituencies and instead concentrate on maintaining unity within the coalition.
He reportedly suggested that all NDA constituents should work together to regain the Assembly seats the alliance failed to win in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections.
He also indicated that formal discussions on seat allocation would be held in Delhi at an appropriate stage.
During the meeting, RLD General Secretary (Organisation) Trilok Tyagi informed the BJP leadership that the party has significantly expanded its organisational network beyond its traditional base in western Uttar Pradesh.
He said the RLD has conducted public meetings and organisational programmes across all 18 administrative divisions of the state, with particular emphasis on strengthening its presence in eastern and central Uttar Pradesh.
Tyagi also highlighted that RLD president and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary has recently addressed large public gatherings in Deoria, Basti, Varanasi and Sonbhadra, reflecting the party’s growing outreach in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
In view of this expansion, the RLD requested an opportunity to contest a number of Assembly seats in the region.
The RLD further proposed that seat distribution should be based on ground-level organisational strength and prevailing social equations rather than conventional political claims.
The party also recommended enhancing coordination among NDA leaders at the state, district and Assembly constituency levels to ensure better electoral management.
A similar suggestion was made by SBSP president and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, who stressed the need for stronger coordination among all alliance partners.
According to sources, the SBSP also emphasised the importance of consolidating Other Backward Class (OBC) voters by organising joint outreach programmes involving leaders from every NDA constituent.
Sources said the SBSP proposed holding community-based events where senior leaders from all alliance parties would jointly participate.
The party believes such programmes would help strengthen social cohesion among different caste groups and reinforce the NDA’s support base ahead of the elections.
The SBSP also reportedly submitted a preliminary list of Assembly constituencies it intends to contest in 2027, stating that it has consistently strengthened its organisational structure in these areas over the past five to ten years.
The party laid claim to several constituencies, particularly in Azamgarh district, where the Samajwadi Party has traditionally enjoyed strong support and where the BJP has struggled to secure victories.
It also shared details of its proposed rallies and requested the participation of senior BJP leaders from Delhi and Lucknow.
Meanwhile, Nishad Party president and Uttar Pradesh Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad reiterated his long-standing demand for granting the Nishad community Scheduled Caste (SC) status in Uttar Pradesh and issuing SC certificates similar to those provided in Delhi.
He urged BJP president Nitin Nabin to pursue the matter with the Union government.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Sanjay Nishad said he had also recommended strengthening coordination among NDA allies to ensure smoother functioning of the alliance before the Assembly elections.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Nitin Nabin expressed confidence about the NDA’s electoral prospects.
He said the alliance has worked collectively to transform Uttar Pradesh into an “Uttam Pradesh” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, adding that the NDA is optimistic of securing a decisive mandate and returning to power with a massive majority in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Earlier in the day, Nabin also met several former BJP state presidents to seek their suggestions and strategic inputs for the upcoming electoral battle.

2027 के उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव को लेकर भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेतृत्व वाले राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (एनडीए) में सीटों के बंटवारे को लेकर मंथन तेज हो गया है।
गठबंधन के सहयोगी दलों ने इस बार अपनी पारंपरिक राजनीतिक सीमाओं से बाहर भी चुनाव लड़ने की इच्छा जताई है। साथ ही उन्होंने भाजपा नेतृत्व से राज्य, जिला और विधानसभा स्तर पर सहयोगी दलों के बीच बेहतर समन्वय स्थापित करने की मांग की है।
लखनऊ दौरे के दूसरे दिन भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष नितिन नवीन ने अपना दल (सोनेलाल), राष्ट्रीय लोक दल (आरएलडी), सुहेलदेव भारतीय समाज पार्टी (एसबीएसपी) और निषाद पार्टी के नेताओं के साथ बैठक कर आगामी चुनावों की रणनीति, संगठनात्मक मजबूती और गठबंधन की तैयारियों पर विस्तार से चर्चा की।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, नितिन नवीन ने सहयोगी दलों से फिलहाल किसी विशेष विधानसभा सीट पर सार्वजनिक दावा करने से बचने की सलाह दी।
उन्होंने सभी दलों से आग्रह किया कि वे 2022 के विधानसभा चुनाव में एनडीए द्वारा गंवाई गई सीटों को दोबारा जीतने के लिए संयुक्त रूप से कार्य करें। उन्होंने यह भी संकेत दिया कि सीटों के अंतिम बंटवारे पर विस्तृत चर्चा उचित समय पर दिल्ली में की जाएगी।
बैठक में आरएलडी के संगठन महासचिव त्रिलोक त्यागी ने भाजपा नेतृत्व को बताया कि पार्टी ने पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश से आगे बढ़कर पूरे प्रदेश में अपना संगठन मजबूत किया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि आरएलडी ने राज्य के सभी 18 मंडलों में संगठनात्मक गतिविधियां और जनसभाएं आयोजित की हैं तथा विशेष रूप से पूर्वी और मध्य उत्तर प्रदेश में अपनी पकड़ मजबूत करने पर ध्यान दिया है।
त्रिलोक त्यागी ने यह भी बताया कि आरएलडी अध्यक्ष एवं केंद्रीय मंत्री जयंत चौधरी ने हाल के दिनों में देवरिया, बस्ती, वाराणसी और सोनभद्र में बड़ी जनसभाओं को संबोधित किया है। पार्टी का मानना है कि पूर्वांचल में उसका जनाधार बढ़ा है, इसलिए उसे वहां की कुछ विधानसभा सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने का अवसर दिया जाना चाहिए।
आरएलडी ने सुझाव दिया कि सीटों का आवंटन केवल पारंपरिक दावों के आधार पर नहीं, बल्कि स्थानीय संगठन की मजबूती और सामाजिक समीकरणों को ध्यान में रखकर किया जाना चाहिए।
पार्टी ने राज्य, जिला और विधानसभा स्तर पर गठबंधन सहयोगियों के बीच नियमित समन्वय तंत्र विकसित करने की भी आवश्यकता जताई।
इसी तरह सुहेलदेव भारतीय समाज पार्टी (एसबीएसपी) के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष एवं उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार में मंत्री ओम प्रकाश राजभर ने भी सहयोगी दलों के बीच बेहतर तालमेल पर जोर दिया।
सूत्रों के मुताबिक, एसबीएसपी ने सुझाव दिया कि अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग (ओबीसी) के मतदाताओं को एकजुट करने के लिए सभी सहयोगी दल संयुक्त सामाजिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित करें।
पार्टी का मानना है कि विभिन्न सामाजिक वर्गों के बीच संवाद बढ़ाने वाले ऐसे आयोजनों में एनडीए के सभी दलों के वरिष्ठ नेताओं की भागीदारी सुनिश्चित की जाए, जिससे अलग-अलग जातीय समूहों के मतदाताओं में गठबंधन के प्रति विश्वास और एकजुटता मजबूत हो सके।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, एसबीएसपी ने वर्ष 2027 के चुनाव के लिए उन विधानसभा सीटों की प्रारंभिक सूची भी भाजपा को सौंपी, जहां उसने पिछले पांच से दस वर्षों में अपना संगठन मजबूत किया है।
पार्टी ने विशेष रूप से आजमगढ़ जिले की कुछ सीटों पर दावा किया, जिन्हें समाजवादी पार्टी का मजबूत गढ़ माना जाता है और जहां भाजपा अब तक जीत हासिल नहीं कर सकी है।
इसके अलावा एसबीएसपी ने अपनी प्रस्तावित जनसभाओं और कार्यक्रमों की सूची भी साझा करते हुए दिल्ली और लखनऊ से भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेताओं की उपस्थिति का अनुरोध किया।
वहीं, निषाद पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष एवं उत्तर प्रदेश के मत्स्य मंत्री संजय निषाद ने बैठक के दौरान एक बार फिर उत्तर प्रदेश में निषाद समुदाय को अनुसूचित जाति (एससी) का दर्जा देने और दिल्ली की तर्ज पर एससी प्रमाणपत्र जारी करने की मांग दोहराई।
उन्होंने भाजपा अध्यक्ष नितिन नवीन से इस मुद्दे को केंद्र सरकार के समक्ष प्रभावी ढंग से उठाने का आग्रह किया।
द इंडियन एक्सप्रेस से बातचीत में संजय निषाद ने कहा कि उन्होंने आगामी चुनावों को देखते हुए एनडीए सहयोगियों के बीच समन्वय को और मजबूत बनाने का सुझाव भी दिया है।
बैठक के बाद मीडिया से बातचीत में नितिन नवीन ने विश्वास जताया कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ के नेतृत्व में एनडीए सरकार ने सेवा और विकास की भावना के साथ उत्तर प्रदेश को आगे बढ़ाया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि गठबंधन को पूरा भरोसा है कि 2027 के विधानसभा चुनाव में एनडीए प्रचंड बहुमत के साथ फिर से सरकार बनाएगा।
इससे पहले नितिन नवीन ने भाजपा के कई पूर्व प्रदेश अध्यक्षों से भी मुलाकात कर आगामी विधानसभा चुनाव की रणनीति और संगठनात्मक तैयारियों को लेकर उनके सुझाव प्राप्त किए।
