Bulandshahar Encounter: ₹50,000 Reward Gangster Wanted in Minor’s Rape-Murder Case Killed
Police say the accused, Monu, was shot during a vehicle-checking operation; two policemen were injured and two SHOs’ bulletproof jackets were hit
Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: A gangster carrying a reward of ₹50,000 and wanted in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl was killed in a police encounter in Bulandshahr on Sunday morning, police said.
The deceased, identified as Monu, was a resident of Bulandshahr and had been wanted since August 1, when a case was registered against him in connection with the sexual assault and killing of a minor girl.
According to Bulandshahr Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh, the encounter occurred near Chaprawat on the Bulandshahr-Gulaothi road while police teams were conducting vehicle checks.
Police said two men approached the checking point on a motorcycle that did not have a registration number.
When officers signalled them to stop, the riders allegedly opened fire and attempted to escape.
A police team pursued the motorcycle and returned fire, citing self-defence.
During the exchange, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar and Constable Narendra Kumar suffered gunshot wounds to their arms, police said.
The bulletproof jackets worn by Gulaothi Station House Officer Dharmendra Kumar Sharma and Sikandrabad SHO Shailendra Pratap Singh were also struck by bullets, according to the police.
Suspect injured, later dies in hospital
Police said the motorcycle rider managed to escape while the pillion rider was hit by gunfire and fell from the vehicle.
Officers found the injured man and identified him as Monu.
He was initially taken to a community health centre and later referred to the district hospital. Police said he died during treatment.
A firearm, two magazines, live ammunition and spent cartridges were recovered from the scene, along with the motorcycle, which police said had no registration number.
The two injured police personnel were receiving medical treatment, while the authorities launched a search operation for Monu’s alleged associate who escaped from the scene.
Seven cases registered across four districts
Police said Monu had seven criminal cases registered against him in Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Bareilly and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
He had been absconding since the case involving the minor girl was registered on August 1. Police had announced a ₹50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
The latest encounter comes amid an ongoing effort by Bulandshahr police to trace the second suspect who fled on the motorcycle.
Police said further investigation into the encounter, the recovered weapon and Monu’s alleged criminal activities would continue.
The allegations against Monu were matters under investigation; his death during the police encounter means the criminal case against him cannot proceed to trial against him.

बुलंदशहर, उत्तर प्रदेश: नाबालिग लड़की से कथित दुष्कर्म और उसकी हत्या के मामले में वांछित ₹50 हजार के इनामी बदमाश मोनू को बुलंदशहर में रविवार सुबह पुलिस मुठभेड़ में मारे जाने की पुलिस ने जानकारी दी।
बुलंदशहर निवासी मोनू के खिलाफ बुलंदशहर समेत अलीगढ़, बरेली और गौतमबुद्ध नगर जिलों में कुल सात आपराधिक मामले दर्ज होने की बात पुलिस ने कही है।
वह 1 अगस्त को नाबालिग लड़की से दुष्कर्म और हत्या के मामले में मुकदमा दर्ज होने के बाद से फरार था।
बुलंदशहर के पुलिस अधीक्षक दिनेश कुमार सिंह के मुताबिक, बुलंदशहर-गुलावठी मार्ग पर छपरावत के पास पुलिस टीम नियमित वाहन जांच कर रही थी।
इसी दौरान बिना नंबर प्लेट वाली मोटरसाइकिल पर सवार दो लोगों को पुलिस ने रुकने का संकेत दिया।
पुलिस के अनुसार, बाइक सवारों ने रुकने के बजाय पुलिस पर गोली चला दी और भागने की कोशिश की। इसके बाद पुलिस टीम ने पीछा किया और आत्मरक्षा में जवाबी कार्रवाई की।
दो पुलिसकर्मियों को लगी गोली
मुठभेड़ के दौरान सब-इंस्पेक्टर संदीप कुमार और कांस्टेबल नरेंद्र कुमार की बांह में गोली लगने की बात पुलिस ने कही है।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, गुलावठी थाना प्रभारी धर्मेंद्र कुमार शर्मा और सिकंदराबाद थाना प्रभारी शैलेंद्र प्रताप सिंह की बुलेटप्रूफ जैकेट पर भी गोलियां लगीं।
फायरिंग के दौरान बाइक चला रहा व्यक्ति भागने में सफल रहा, जबकि पीछे बैठा व्यक्ति गोली लगने के बाद सड़क पर गिर गया।
पुलिसकर्मियों ने घायल व्यक्ति को कब्जे में लेकर उसकी पहचान मोनू के रूप में की।
उसे पहले स्थानीय सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र ले जाया गया, जहां से जिला अस्पताल रेफर किया गया। पुलिस के अनुसार, इलाज के दौरान उसकी मौत हो गई।
मौके से हथियार और कारतूस बरामद
पुलिस ने घटनास्थल से एक पिस्तौल, दो मैगजीन, जिंदा और इस्तेमाल किए जा चुके कारतूस तथा बिना रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर वाली मोटरसाइकिल बरामद करने का दावा किया है।
मुठभेड़ के बाद पुलिस ने फरार हुए दूसरे व्यक्ति की तलाश में अभियान शुरू कर दिया है। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, उसकी पहचान और गिरफ्तारी के प्रयास जारी हैं।
चार जिलों में दर्ज थे सात मामले
पुलिस के अनुसार, मोनू के खिलाफ बुलंदशहर, अलीगढ़, बरेली और गौतमबुद्ध नगर में सात आपराधिक मामले दर्ज थे।
नाबालिग लड़की से जुड़े दुष्कर्म और हत्या के मामले में 1 अगस्त को मुकदमा दर्ज होने के बाद से वह पुलिस की पकड़ से बाहर था। उसकी गिरफ्तारी पर ₹50 हजार का इनाम घोषित किया गया था।
अब पुलिस का मुख्य फोकस मुठभेड़ के दौरान भागे उसके कथित साथी को पकड़ने पर है। साथ ही बरामद हथियार, कारतूस और अन्य परिस्थितिजन्य साक्ष्यों के आधार पर पूरे मामले की जांच आगे बढ़ाई जा रही है।
मोनू के खिलाफ लगाए गए आरोपों का अंतिम न्यायिक निर्धारण नहीं हो सका, क्योंकि पुलिस के अनुसार उसकी मौत मुठभेड़ के बाद उपचार के दौरान हुई।
