Cargo Plane Flying from Sharjah to Karachi Disappears from Radar Over Arabian Sea, Search Underway
Karachi: A cargo aircraft travelling from Sharjah to Karachi disappeared from radar screens over the Arabian Sea late Tuesday night, triggering an emergency response by aviation authorities.
The aircraft, operated by K2 Airways, reportedly lost communication with air traffic controllers while approaching Pakistani airspace, raising concerns about its whereabouts.
According to officials, the Boeing 737-400 freighter went off radar approximately 300 kilometres west of Karachi.
Before contact was lost, the flight crew informed air traffic controllers about a navigation-related problem and requested technical assistance from the Karachi Area Control Centre (ACC).
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that the aircraft was carrying five crew members at the time of the incident. No passengers were on board, as the aircraft was operating as a cargo flight.
The PAA said the aircraft first reported a malfunction in its navigation system at around 9:18 pm. Controllers at the Karachi ACC immediately began providing navigational guidance to help the crew.
However, within three minutes, at approximately 9:21 pm, radar data showed the aircraft rapidly losing altitude while making a sharp turn.
Moments later, both radar contact and radio communication with the aircraft were lost nearly 287 kilometres west of Karachi.
Flight-tracking platform FlightRadar said preliminary ADS-B information indicated an unusual flight profile.
According to the available data, the aircraft initially lost altitude, briefly climbed again, and then suffered a second, sudden and severe descent before all transmissions stopped.
The final recorded position showed the aircraft flying at approximately 1,100 feet above mean sea level, with a reported vertical descent rate of nearly 22,400 feet per minute, suggesting an extremely rapid loss of altitude immediately before contact was lost.
Investigators also indicated that the aircraft experienced a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) malfunction shortly after departing from Sharjah.
The technical issue reportedly affected the aircraft’s navigation data during the early phase of the flight and may form an important part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.

कराची: संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के शारजाह से कराची जा रहा एक कार्गो विमान मंगलवार देर रात अरब सागर के ऊपर अचानक रडार से गायब हो गया। विमान से संपर्क टूटने के बाद विमानन एजेंसियों में हड़कंप मच गया और उसके बारे में जानकारी जुटाने के प्रयास तेज कर दिए गए।
प्रारंभिक जानकारी के अनुसार K2 एयरवेज का बोइंग 737-400 मालवाहक विमान पाकिस्तानी हवाई क्षेत्र में प्रवेश करने से पहले कराची से करीब 300 किलोमीटर पश्चिम में रडार से ओझल हो गया। संपर्क टूटने से पहले पायलट ने उड़ान के दौरान नेविगेशन प्रणाली में तकनीकी समस्या की जानकारी दी थी और कराची एरिया कंट्रोल सेंटर (ACC) से सहायता मांगी थी।

पीएए ने बताया कि रात करीब 9:18 बजे विमान ने नेविगेशन प्रणाली में खराबी की सूचना दी थी। इसके बाद कराची एरिया कंट्रोल सेंटर ने तत्काल विमान को आवश्यक दिशा-निर्देश देने शुरू किए। लेकिन करीब 9:21 बजे रडार पर विमान तेजी से नीचे उतरता हुआ दिखाई दिया और उसने अचानक दिशा भी बदली।
इसके तुरंत बाद कराची से लगभग 287 किलोमीटर पश्चिम में विमान से रडार और रेडियो, दोनों तरह का संपर्क पूरी तरह टूट गया।
विमानों की निगरानी करने वाली सेवा फ्लाइटराडार के अनुसार शुरुआती ADS-B आंकड़ों से पता चलता है कि विमान की उड़ान में असामान्य बदलाव हुए। उपलब्ध जानकारी के मुताबिक पहले विमान की ऊंचाई घटी, फिर उसने कुछ समय के लिए दोबारा ऊंचाई हासिल की और इसके बाद अचानक बेहद तेज गति से नीचे गिरना शुरू कर दिया, जिसके बाद उससे कोई सिग्नल प्राप्त नहीं हुआ।
आखिरी बार प्राप्त आंकड़ों के अनुसार विमान लगभग 1,100 फीट की ऊंचाई पर था और उसकी वर्टिकल डिसेंट रेट लगभग 22,400 फीट प्रति मिनट दर्ज की गई। यह संकेत देता है कि संपर्क टूटने से ठीक पहले विमान अत्यंत तेजी से नीचे आ रहा था।
प्रारंभिक जांच में यह भी सामने आया है कि शारजाह से उड़ान भरने के कुछ समय बाद ही विमान के ग्लोबल नेविगेशन सैटेलाइट सिस्टम (GNSS) में तकनीकी समस्या उत्पन्न हो गई थी। माना जा रहा है कि इसी कारण नेविगेशन डेटा प्रभावित हुआ और अब जांच एजेंसियां इस पहलू की भी गहराई से पड़ताल कर रही हैं।
