Twisha Sharma Death Case: CBI Files Chargesheet Against Husband and Mother-in-Law
Former actor-model’s husband and mother-in-law accused of abetment to suicide; probe into dowry death allegations remains open.
Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh, a former district judge, in connection with the suspicious death of former actor-model Twisha Sharma.
The agency has accused both of abetting suicide, alleging that sustained mental cruelty drove the 33-year-old to take the extreme step.
The chargesheet was submitted before a special CBI court in Bhopal following months of investigation into Twisha’s death, which occurred on May 12, just five months after her marriage to Samarth Singh.
According to the CBI, the investigation found evidence suggesting that Twisha was subjected to continuous psychological harassment within her matrimonial home.
The agency has alleged that the conduct of her husband and mother-in-law left her with no viable option but to end her life.
However, the CBI clarified that its investigation into allegations of dowry demands and dowry death has not been closed.
Officials said that aspect of the case remains under examination and further evidence may be added as the probe progresses.
Twisha was found hanging at her residence in Bhopal on the night of May 12.
As mentioned in the FIR, Samarth Singh took her to AIIMS Bhopal, informing doctors that she had allegedly died by suicide at home around 10:20 pm.
Doctors declared her brought dead, after which police registered a medico-legal case.
Her family consistently alleged that Twisha had been subjected to mental torture, domestic violence and harassment over dowry.
They claimed her in-laws were dissatisfied with the dowry given during her wedding on December 9, 2025, and that the alleged abuse ultimately pushed her to suicide.
The investigation took a significant turn after the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second post-mortem examination.
On May 24, a four-member medical board from AIIMS Delhi conducted a fresh autopsy in Bhopal, following concerns raised by the family over the initial investigation.
Subsequently, the CBI assumed charge of the case and arrested Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh.
With the filing of the chargesheet, the case now moves into the trial stage, while investigators continue examining the dowry-related allegations separately.

भोपाल: पूर्व अभिनेत्री और मॉडल ट्विशा शर्मा की संदिग्ध मौत के मामले में केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो (CBI) ने उनके पति समर्थ सिंह और सास गिरिबाला सिंह के खिलाफ विशेष अदालत में आरोपपत्र दाखिल कर दिया है।
CBI ने दोनों पर आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने (Abetment to Suicide) का आरोप लगाया है और कहा है कि लगातार मानसिक प्रताड़ना के कारण ट्विशा ने यह कदम उठाया।
एजेंसी के अनुसार, आरोपपत्र भोपाल की विशेष CBI अदालत में पेश किया गया है।
CBI का कहना है कि जांच में ऐसे साक्ष्य मिले हैं जिनसे संकेत मिलता है कि विवाह के बाद ट्विशा को अपने ससुराल में लगातार मानसिक उत्पीड़न का सामना करना पड़ा।
CBI ने आरोप लगाया कि समर्थ सिंह और उनकी मां गिरिबाला सिंह, जो पूर्व जिला न्यायाधीश रह चुकी हैं, के व्यवहार ने ट्विशा को इस हद तक प्रताड़ित किया कि उनके सामने आत्महत्या के अलावा कोई विकल्प नहीं बचा।
हालांकि एजेंसी ने स्पष्ट किया है कि दहेज की मांग और दहेज मृत्यु से जुड़े आरोपों की जांच अभी जारी है।
इस पहलू को खुला रखा गया है और आगे मिलने वाले साक्ष्यों के आधार पर जांच आगे बढ़ाई जाएगी।
ट्विशा शर्मा का विवाह 9 दिसंबर 2025 को समर्थ सिंह से हुआ था। 12 मई की रात वह भोपाल स्थित अपने घर में फंदे से लटकी मिली थी।
एफआईआर के अनुसार समर्थ उन्हें AIIMS भोपाल लेकर पहुंचे और बताया कि उन्होंने रात लगभग 10:20 बजे घर में फांसी लगा ली थी।
अस्पताल के चिकित्सकों ने उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने मेडिको-लीगल मामला दर्ज किया।
ट्विशा के परिजनों ने शुरुआत से ही आरोप लगाया कि उन्हें दहेज को लेकर प्रताड़ित किया जाता था।
परिवार का कहना था कि ससुराल पक्ष विवाह में दिए गए दहेज से असंतुष्ट था तथा मानसिक और घरेलू हिंसा के कारण ट्विशा को आत्महत्या के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा।
मामले ने नया मोड़ तब लिया जब मध्य प्रदेश हाईकोर्ट के निर्देश पर दूसरा पोस्टमार्टम कराया गया। 24 मई को AIIMS दिल्ली के चार सदस्यीय मेडिकल बोर्ड ने भोपाल में दोबारा शव परीक्षण किया।
इसके बाद CBI ने जांच अपने हाथ में ली और समर्थ सिंह तथा गिरिबाला सिंह को गिरफ्तार किया।
अब आरोपपत्र दाखिल होने के साथ मामला न्यायिक प्रक्रिया के अगले चरण में प्रवेश कर गया है, जबकि दहेज से जुड़े आरोपों की जांच अलग से जारी रहेगी।
