Chhattisgarh Bus Crash Kills Six, Injures 40 in MCB District; CM Announces Compensation
Six people lost their lives, and 40 others were injured when a passenger bus carrying 46 people rammed into a roadside tree in Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district on Thursday, police said. Four of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.
The crash occurred shortly after noon near the Semarmathani turn on the Manendragarh-Kelhari road, while the bus was heading towards Kelhari.
According to Superintendent of Police Ratna Singh, passengers told officials that the driver lost control of the vehicle before it veered off course and struck the tree.
The impact proved fatal for six passengers, including four women. Police said around 20 people, including the driver, sustained serious injuries, while approximately 20 others suffered comparatively minor wounds.
Victims identified; injured taken to hospitals.
Police identified the deceased as Panchram, 70, and two women, Madhu and Neha, all from Rojhi village.
The other victims were bus owner Sipahi Lal of Kelhari, Sangeeta from Gudru village in Kelhari, and Sukaron, 80, who also belonged to Kelhari.
Emergency teams and local authorities arranged for the injured to be transported to medical facilities in Manendragarh and Chirmiri.
Two seriously injured passengers were referred to Ambikapur for advanced treatment, while two others were transferred to the district hospital in Chirmiri, officials said.
State announces financial assistance.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed sorrow over the loss of life and instructed the district administration to ensure that all injured passengers receive appropriate medical care.
Sai announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for the family of each person killed in the accident. Those injured will receive ₹50,000 each, according to the chief minister.
Police said a formal case would be registered and responsibility for the crash would be determined through an investigation. Further action will be taken against those found to have been at fault.

छत्तीसगढ़ के मनेंद्रगढ़-चिरमिरी-भरतपुर (एमसीबी) जिले में गुरुवार को एक दर्दनाक सड़क हादसे में छह यात्रियों की मौत हो गई, जबकि 40 अन्य घायल हो गए। पुलिस के मुताबिक, 46 लोगों को लेकर जा रही बस सड़क किनारे लगे पेड़ से टकरा गई। घायलों में चार की हालत गंभीर बताई गई है।
हादसा दोपहर बाद मनेंद्रगढ़-केल्हारी मार्ग पर सेमरमथानी मोड़ के नजदीक हुआ। बस केल्हारी की ओर जा रही थी। पुलिस अधीक्षक रत्ना सिंह ने बताया कि यात्रियों से मिली शुरुआती जानकारी के अनुसार, चालक वाहन पर नियंत्रण खो बैठा, जिसके बाद बस सड़क किनारे पेड़ से जा भिड़ी।
टक्कर इतनी जोरदार थी कि चार महिलाओं समेत छह लोगों की जान चली गई। पुलिस के अनुसार, करीब 20 लोग, जिनमें बस चालक भी शामिल है, गंभीर रूप से घायल हुए हैं। अन्य लगभग 20 यात्रियों को अपेक्षाकृत कम चोटें आई हैं।
मृतकों की पहचान, घायलों का अलग-अलग अस्पतालों में उपचार
पुलिस ने मृतकों की पहचान रोजही गांव के पंचराम (70), मधु और नेहा के रूप में की है। अन्य मृतकों में केल्हारी निवासी बस मालिक सिपाही लाल, केल्हारी के गुड़रू गांव की संगीता और केल्हारी निवासी सुकरों (80) शामिल हैं।
हादसे के बाद घायलों को मनेंद्रगढ़ और चिरमिरी के अस्पतालों में पहुंचाया गया। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, गंभीर रूप से घायल दो यात्रियों को बेहतर इलाज के लिए अंबिकापुर रेफर किया गया, जबकि दो अन्य को चिरमिरी जिला अस्पताल भेजा गया।
मृतकों के परिजनों को पांच-पांच लाख रुपये मिलेंगे
मुख्यमंत्री विष्णु देव साय ने दुर्घटना में हुई मौतों पर दुख जताया और जिला प्रशासन को घायलों के समुचित इलाज की व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित करने के निर्देश दिए।
मुख्यमंत्री ने घोषणा की कि हादसे में जान गंवाने वाले प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के परिवार को पांच लाख रुपये की आर्थिक सहायता दी जाएगी। वहीं, प्रत्येक घायल को 50 हजार रुपये प्रदान किए जाएंगे।
पुलिस ने बताया कि मामले में प्राथमिकी दर्ज की जाएगी। जांच के दौरान हादसे के लिए जिम्मेदार पाए जाने वाले लोगों के खिलाफ नियमानुसार कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
