CJP Distances Jantar Mantar Protest from Bangladesh Unrest, Signals Fresh Stir Over Unfulfilled NEET Commitments
New Delhi: Rejecting comparisons between the Jantar Mantar agitation and political upheavals witnessed in neighbouring countries, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has asserted that the movement led by his organisation was rooted in issues concerning students and educational reforms, and bore no resemblance to developments in Bangladesh or Nepal.
He alleged that attempts to equate the protest with foreign political movements were intended to undermine the credibility of the campaign.
The clarification came after exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen remarked that a video of the CJP protest reminded her of the student movement in Bangladesh in 2024, which culminated in the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
Recalling those events, Nasreen said the agitation had initially appeared to revolve around the quota system but later, according to her, took a different course.
She further alleged that Islamist elements eventually influenced the movement, resulting in adverse consequences for Bangladesh.
Responding to those observations, Dipke maintained that the circumstances surrounding the Indian protest were entirely different.
He said the CJP was formed as a satirical political platform but had evolved into a larger citizens’ movement after drawing support from students across the country.
According to him, the organisation now intends to expand its team to shoulder greater responsibilities in the future.
The CJP founder also indicated that another round of protests could be organised if the Centre failed to honour assurances that were given during discussions following the 37-day sit-in at Jantar Mantar.
He claimed that one of the most significant promises made to the protesters remains unimplemented.
According to Dipke, families of NEET-UG aspirants who allegedly died by suicide in the aftermath of the examination paper leak have not yet received the compensation of ₹1 crore that the organisation had demanded.
He said the issue was central to the protest and expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in its implementation.
Questioning the government’s response, he alleged that officials had cited procedural requirements and existing rules while explaining why compensation had not yet been released.
Dipke argued that such explanations reflected a lack of urgency in addressing the concerns raised by the affected families.
Besides financial assistance for the families, the organisation had also pressed for the resignation of the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and sought withdrawal of criminal cases registered against demonstrators.
Dipke said those demands had formed the core of the negotiations with the government.
The prolonged protest at Jantar Mantar eventually concluded after Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down from the Education Ministry and the Centre reportedly accepted the remaining demands raised by the organisation.
Even so, Dipke expressed reservations over the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as the new Union Education Minister.
While acknowledging that the demand for a change in leadership had been fulfilled, he said he was not in agreement with the choice of successor.
Referring to an earlier public controversy involving Joshi, Dipke questioned whether the appointment would inspire confidence among students, particularly young girls.
He reiterated that although the previous minister’s resignation had met one of the movement’s objectives, the organisation did not endorse the subsequent appointment.
Dipke said the CJP would continue to monitor the implementation of commitments made by the government and would decide its future course of action depending on the progress achieved on the pending issues.

नई दिल्ली: जंतर-मंतर पर हुए छात्र आंदोलन की तुलना बांग्लादेश और नेपाल के राजनीतिक घटनाक्रमों से किए जाने पर कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी (सीजेपी) ने कड़ा एतराज जताया है।
संगठन के संस्थापक अभिजीत दिपके ने कहा कि उनका आंदोलन पूरी तरह छात्रों और शिक्षा से जुड़े मुद्दों पर आधारित था तथा इसे पड़ोसी देशों के सत्ता परिवर्तन से जोड़ना तथ्यों से परे है।
उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि इस तरह की तुलना केवल आंदोलन की छवि धूमिल करने के उद्देश्य से की जा रही है।
यह प्रतिक्रिया निर्वासित बांग्लादेशी लेखिका तस्लीमा नसरीन की उस टिप्पणी के बाद सामने आई, जिसमें उन्होंने जंतर-मंतर आंदोलन का एक वीडियो देखकर कहा था कि उन्हें यह वर्ष 2024 में बांग्लादेश में हुए छात्र आंदोलन की याद दिलाता है।
नसरीन ने कहा था कि उस आंदोलन की शुरुआत आरक्षण व्यवस्था के विरोध से हुई थी, लेकिन बाद में घटनाक्रम अलग दिशा में चला गया।
उन्होंने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि आगे चलकर कट्टरपंथी ताकतों का प्रभाव बढ़ा और उसके परिणाम बांग्लादेश के लिए अनुकूल नहीं रहे।
इन टिप्पणियों का जवाब देते हुए दिपके ने कहा कि भारत में चला आंदोलन अपने उद्देश्य, स्वरूप और नेतृत्व के स्तर पर पूरी तरह अलग था।
उनके अनुसार, कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी की शुरुआत भले ही एक व्यंग्यात्मक राजनीतिक मंच के रूप में हुई हो, लेकिन छात्र आंदोलन के बाद यह व्यापक जनसमर्थन वाला संगठन बन गया है।
उन्होंने बताया कि संगठन के विस्तार की योजना तैयार की जा रही है ताकि आगे की जिम्मेदारियों का बेहतर ढंग से निर्वहन किया जा सके।
दिपके ने संकेत दिया कि यदि केंद्र सरकार ने आंदोलन के दौरान किए गए वादों को लागू नहीं किया तो संगठन दोबारा धरना-प्रदर्शन का रास्ता अपना सकता है।
उनका कहना था कि कई महत्वपूर्ण आश्वासन अब तक केवल कागजों तक सीमित हैं।
उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि नीट-यूजी प्रश्नपत्र लीक प्रकरण के बाद कथित रूप से आत्महत्या करने वाले अभ्यर्थियों के परिवारों को अब तक एक-एक करोड़ रुपये की आर्थिक सहायता नहीं मिली है।
उनके अनुसार, यह मांग आंदोलन के प्रमुख मुद्दों में शामिल थी और इस पर अब तक कोई ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं हुई है।
सरकार की ओर से नियमों और प्रक्रियाओं का हवाला दिए जाने पर दीपक ने असंतोष जताया। उनका कहना था कि यदि सरकार वास्तव में प्रतिबद्ध होती तो प्रभावित परिवारों को राहत देने में इतनी देरी नहीं होती।
सीजेपी की अन्य प्रमुख मांगों में तत्कालीन केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान का इस्तीफा और आंदोलन में शामिल प्रदर्शनकारियों के खिलाफ दर्ज मामलों को वापस लेना भी शामिल था।
दिपके ने कहा कि इन मुद्दों पर सरकार के साथ विस्तृत बातचीत हुई थी।
लगभग 37 दिनों तक चला जंतर-मंतर का धरना धर्मेंद्र प्रधान के पद छोड़ने और केंद्र द्वारा अन्य मांगों पर सहमति जताए जाने के बाद समाप्त किया गया था।
हालांकि, दीपक ने शिक्षा मंत्री के रूप में प्रल्हाद जोशी की नियुक्ति पर असहमति जताई।
उन्होंने कहा कि नेतृत्व परिवर्तन की मांग पूरी हुई, लेकिन नए मंत्री के चयन से वह संतुष्ट नहीं हैं।
प्रल्हाद जोशी से जुड़े एक पुराने सार्वजनिक विवाद का उल्लेख करते हुए दिपके ने कहा कि शिक्षा मंत्रालय जैसे महत्वपूर्ण विभाग का नेतृत्व ऐसे व्यक्ति के हाथों में होना चाहिए, जिस पर किसी प्रकार का विवाद न हो।
उन्होंने कहा कि विशेष रूप से छात्राओं के दृष्टिकोण से भी यह संदेश सकारात्मक नहीं माना जाएगा।
उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि संगठन फिलहाल सरकार द्वारा किए गए वादों के क्रियान्वयन पर नजर रखे हुए है।
यदि लंबित मांगों पर शीघ्र निर्णय नहीं लिया गया तो आगे की रणनीति तय कर देशव्यापी आंदोलन शुरू करने पर विचार किया जाएगा।
