Deepak Nandal Gang: From Fazilpuria Attack to an Alleged Global Extortion Network, How Police Tracked the Syndicate
Investigators believe the latest encounter in Gurugram is part of a much larger crackdown on an organised crime syndicate allegedly controlled by Deepak Nandal.
Over the past year, Haryana Police have linked the gang to a series of shootings, extortion attempts and targeted attacks across Gurugram and the Delhi-NCR region.
One of the most high-profile incidents occurred in July 2025, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the SUV of popular Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpuria on the Southern Peripheral Road in Gurugram.
Although the singer escaped without injuries, the brazen daylight attack triggered widespread concern over the growing influence of organised crime in the region.
Soon after the firing, several social media posts, purportedly issued in the names of Deepak Nandal, Sunil Sardhania and Indrajit Yadav, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The posts alleged that Fazilpuria had failed to repay ₹5 crore allegedly borrowed from Nandal. Police have treated those claims as part of the investigation but have not publicly verified the authenticity of every social media post.
The alleged fallout did not end there. In August 2025, Rohit Shaukeen, considered a close associate of Fazilpuria, was shot dead in Gurugram.
Investigators said Nandal later claimed responsibility for the killing through messages circulated online, strengthening police suspicion that the gang was using violence to reinforce its extortion network.
The chain of attacks reportedly continued earlier this year. In May, armed assailants allegedly linked to the Nandal gang fired at the residence of Saurabh Yadav, the event manager associated with Fazilpuria, in Gurugram’s Kanhai village.
During the attack, Constable Kulbir, who had been deployed for Yadav’s security, sustained bullet injuries while responding to the gunfire.
The investigation gathered momentum within days when Haryana Police arrested two alleged shooters, Gursher Singh alias Shera and Jaspal alias Babal, from Punjab.
According to investigators, the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation that they had travelled to Gurugram with the intention of eliminating Saurabh Yadav.
Police also claimed that other members of the conspiracy had identified the target, arranged vehicles, supplied firearms, and coordinated logistics before the planned attack.
Earlier, four alleged facilitators had already been arrested in connection with the same case.
According to Haryana Police, Deepak Nandal’s organisation has evolved into a sophisticated international extortion syndicate that allegedly recruits young men through social media platforms such as Facebook,
Instagram and YouTube. Investigators claim encrypted applications, including WhatsApp and Signal, were used to issue instructions, coordinate operations and maintain communication with associates on the ground.
Police further allege that builders, real estate developers, businessmen, fashion designers, singers, and other prominent personalities across Delhi-NCR have figured among the gang’s alleged targets.
Investigators believe the group deliberately publicised responsibility for shootings and violent incidents on social media to spread fear and pressure victims into paying extortion money.
Authorities suspect the hostage drama at the residence of Vishal Beri followed a similar pattern.
Preliminary findings indicate that the armed men may have entered the property as part of an extortion attempt before the situation escalated into a hostage crisis.
The arrival of Crime Branch teams eventually led to the fierce encounter in which four alleged gang members were killed.
Senior police officials have described the operation as one of the biggest blows delivered to the alleged syndicate in recent years.
Forensic experts continue to analyse weapons, digital devices and other evidence recovered from the scene, while investigators are questioning the injured suspect to identify other members of the network.
Police have indicated that additional arrests and searches are likely as the probe progresses.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working with multiple agencies to trace the gang’s financial network, overseas connections, and communication channels.
Officials say further disclosures are expected once digital evidence and forensic reports are thoroughly examined.

जांच एजेंसियों का मानना है कि गुरुग्राम में हुई हालिया मुठभेड़ केवल एक अलग-थलग घटना नहीं, बल्कि दीपक नांदल के कथित संगठित अपराध नेटवर्क के खिलाफ चल रहे व्यापक अभियान का हिस्सा है।
पिछले एक वर्ष के दौरान हरियाणा पुलिस ने इस गिरोह का नाम कई गोलीबारी, रंगदारी वसूली और सुनियोजित हमलों से जोड़ा है।
इस सिलसिले की सबसे चर्चित घटनाओं में से एक जुलाई 2025 में सामने आई, जब हरियाणवी गायक राहुल फाजिलपुरिया की एसयूवी पर गुरुग्राम के सदर्न पेरिफेरल रोड पर अज्ञात हमलावरों ने गोलियां बरसा दी थीं।
फाजिलपुरिया इस हमले में सुरक्षित बच गए, लेकिन दिनदहाड़े हुई इस वारदात ने पूरे क्षेत्र में सनसनी फैला दी।
हमले के कुछ ही समय बाद सोशल मीडिया पर ऐसे पोस्ट सामने आए, जिनमें कथित तौर पर दीपक नांदल, सुनील सरधानिया और इंद्रजीत यादव के नाम से इस हमले की जिम्मेदारी ली गई।
इन पोस्टों में दावा किया गया कि फाजिलपुरिया ने नांदल से लिए गए कथित पांच करोड़ रुपये वापस नहीं किए थे। हालांकि पुलिस ने इन दावों को जांच का हिस्सा बनाया है, लेकिन सभी सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट की प्रामाणिकता की आधिकारिक पुष्टि अभी नहीं की है।
इसके कुछ सप्ताह बाद घटनाओं ने और गंभीर रूप ले लिया। अगस्त 2025 में फाजिलपुरिया के करीबी सहयोगी माने जाने वाले रोहित शौकीन की गुरुग्राम में गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई।
जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार, बाद में नांदल के नाम से प्रसारित संदेशों में इस हत्या की जिम्मेदारी लेने का दावा किया गया, जिससे पुलिस का संदेह और गहरा हो गया कि गिरोह भय पैदा कर रंगदारी वसूलने की रणनीति पर काम कर रहा था।
इसी क्रम में मई में गुरुग्राम के कन्हई गांव स्थित फाजिलपुरिया के इवेंट मैनेजर सौरभ यादव के घर पर भी कथित रूप से नांदल गिरोह से जुड़े बदमाशों ने फायरिंग की। उस समय सौरभ यादव की सुरक्षा में तैनात कांस्टेबल कुलबीर जवाबी कार्रवाई के दौरान गोली लगने से घायल हो गए थे।
इस मामले की जांच में अहम सफलता तब मिली जब हरियाणा पुलिस ने पंजाब से दो कथित शूटर गुरशेर सिंह उर्फ शेरा और जसपाल उर्फ बबल को गिरफ्तार किया। पुलिस के अनुसार पूछताछ में दोनों ने कथित रूप से स्वीकार किया कि वे सौरभ यादव की हत्या करने के इरादे से गुरुग्राम पहुंचे थे।
जांचकर्ताओं का दावा है कि अन्य आरोपियों ने पहले ही लक्ष्य की पहचान कर ली थी और हथियार, वाहन तथा अन्य जरूरी व्यवस्थाएं उपलब्ध कराई थीं। इससे पहले इसी मामले में चार अन्य कथित सहयोगियों को भी गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका था।
हरियाणा पुलिस का आरोप है कि दीपक नांदल अब एक ऐसे अंतरराष्ट्रीय रंगदारी नेटवर्क का संचालन कर रहा है, जो सोशल मीडिया के जरिए युवाओं को अपने साथ जोड़ता है।
जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार, फेसबुक, इंस्टाग्राम और यूट्यूब जैसे प्लेटफॉर्म कथित रूप से नए सदस्यों की भर्ती के लिए इस्तेमाल किए जाते थे, जबकि व्हाट्सऐप और सिग्नल जैसे एन्क्रिप्टेड मैसेजिंग ऐप के माध्यम से गिरोह की गतिविधियों का संचालन किया जाता था।
पुलिस का दावा है कि दिल्ली-एनसीआर क्षेत्र के बिल्डर, कारोबारी, रियल एस्टेट डेवलपर, फैशन डिजाइनर, गायक और अन्य प्रभावशाली लोग इस गिरोह के कथित निशाने पर रहे हैं।
जांचकर्ताओं का कहना है कि किसी भी हमले के बाद सोशल मीडिया पर जिम्मेदारी लेने वाले संदेश जारी कर गिरोह पीड़ितों में भय का माहौल पैदा करता था, जिससे रंगदारी वसूली का दबाव बनाया जा सके।
प्रारंभिक जांच में पुलिस को आशंका है कि विशाल बेरी के घर पहुंचने वाले हथियारबंद बदमाश भी कथित रूप से रंगदारी की योजना के तहत वहां पहुंचे थे।
हालात उस समय बिगड़ गए जब कथित तौर पर बंधक जैसी स्थिति बन गई और सूचना मिलने पर क्राइम ब्रांच की टीम मौके पर पहुंच गई। इसके बाद शुरू हुई मुठभेड़ में चार कथित बदमाश मारे गए।
वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों ने इस कार्रवाई को नांदल के कथित नेटवर्क के खिलाफ हाल के वर्षों की सबसे बड़ी सफलताओं में से एक बताया है। घटनास्थल से बरामद हथियारों, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणों और अन्य साक्ष्यों की फोरेंसिक जांच जारी है।
घायल आरोपी से पूछताछ के जरिए पुलिस गिरोह के अन्य सदस्यों और उसके वित्तीय नेटवर्क का पता लगाने की कोशिश कर रही है।
जांच अभी जारी है और पुलिस विभिन्न एजेंसियों के साथ मिलकर गिरोह के अंतरराष्ट्रीय संपर्कों, आर्थिक लेनदेन और डिजिटल कम्युनिकेशन नेटवर्क की पड़ताल कर रही है।
अधिकारियों का कहना है कि फोरेंसिक रिपोर्ट और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक साक्ष्यों के विश्लेषण के बाद इस मामले में और महत्वपूर्ण खुलासे होने की संभावना है।
