Gurugram Encounter: Four Alleged Gangsters Killed in Sushant Lok Shootout, Who is Deepak Nandal?

One of Gurugram’s most dramatic police operations unfolded late Thursday night when an intense gunfight erupted inside the upscale Sushant Lok locality.

More than 60 rounds were reportedly fired during the confrontation, leaving four alleged members of a criminal syndicate dead.

The operation has once again brought the spotlight on Deepak Nandal, a man who police claim has transformed from a Haryanvi music producer into the alleged mastermind of an international extortion network.

According to investigators, the violence began after five armed men allegedly entered the residence of prominent property dealer Vishal Beri, son of the founder of SGT University, in Sushant Lok’s A Block.

Police said the suspects allegedly held Beri hostage inside the house, prompting an emergency response from Crime Branch teams after authorities received information about armed intruders.

As police personnel reached the spot, they reportedly surrounded the residence and instructed the suspects to surrender. Investigators claim the accused instead opened fire on the officers, triggering a fierce exchange of bullets.

During the encounter, four alleged shooters were killed while another sustained injuries.

Three police personnel also suffered gunshot wounds but are reported to be out of danger. Vishal Beri was rescued safely from the house.

Residents of the otherwise peaceful and affluent neighbourhood described scenes of panic as repeated bursts of gunfire echoed through the locality for several minutes.

Witnesses said the scale of the exchange resembled a sequence from an action thriller, with heavily armed police personnel securing the entire area before forensic teams began examining the crime scene.

The dramatic encounter has once again drawn attention to Deepak Nandal, who was once associated with Haryana’s thriving music industry.

Before his name surfaced in criminal investigations, Nandal was known as a producer and performer in several popular Haryanvi music projects.

Nearly six years ago, Nandal was closely associated with Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpuria and rapper Badshah.

He produced the original Haryanvi version of the chartbuster ‘Kar Gayi Chull’, besides working on tracks such as ‘2 Many Girls’ and ‘Haryana Roadways’.

He also appeared alongside the artists in several music videos. During interviews at the time, he publicly described both Badshah and Fazilpuria as being “like brothers.”

One of the earliest controversies surrounding Nandal emerged in 2019 when he allegedly assaulted social media personality Deepak Kalal following remarks that were considered offensive towards Fazilpuria.

Although the incident generated considerable attention, few could have predicted that Nandal’s name would later feature prominently in major organised crime investigations.

Police now allege that Nandal gradually shifted from local disputes to far more serious criminal activities.

Investigators claim he initially became involved in illegal arms trafficking before allegedly expanding into organised extortion, contract killings and the operation of a structured criminal syndicate across multiple states.

According to Haryana Police, Nandal left India in 2023 and has since been directing criminal activities from overseas.

Investigators suspect he has operated from countries including the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada, although his exact location has not been officially confirmed.

Police believe he coordinated operations through trusted associates based in Haryana, Delhi-NCR and neighbouring Punjab while relying on encrypted communication platforms and social media to remain beyond the reach of law enforcement.

Authorities have initiated legal procedures to secure a Red Corner Notice against Nandal as efforts continue to trace his international movements.

Investigators maintain that Thursday night’s encounter represents another significant breakthrough in dismantling the network allegedly operating under his direction.

Further developments are expected as forensic analysis and interrogation of the injured suspect continue.

गुरुग्राम के पॉश इलाके सुशांत लोक में गुरुवार देर रात हुई एक सनसनीखेज मुठभेड़ ने पूरे शहर को झकझोर दिया। करीब 60 से अधिक राउंड गोलियां चलने की इस कार्रवाई में चार कथित बदमाश मारे गए।

इस घटना के बाद एक बार फिर उस शख्स का नाम सुर्खियों में है, जिसे पुलिस हरियाणा के सबसे सक्रिय अंतरराष्ट्रीय रंगदारी गिरोहों में से एक का कथित सरगना मानती है—दीपक नांदल।

पुलिस के अनुसार, घटना की शुरुआत तब हुई जब पांच हथियारबंद बदमाश कथित तौर पर एसजीटी यूनिवर्सिटी के संस्थापक के पुत्र और प्रॉपर्टी कारोबारी विशाल बेरी के सुशांत लोक स्थित आवास में घुस गए।

आरोप है कि आरोपियों ने उन्हें बंधक बना लिया। सूचना मिलते ही क्राइम ब्रांच की टीमें तत्काल मौके पर पहुंचीं और पूरे इलाके को घेर लिया।

जांच अधिकारियों के मुताबिक पुलिस ने पहले आरोपियों से आत्मसमर्पण करने की अपील की, लेकिन उन्होंने कथित रूप से पुलिस दल पर ही गोलियां चला दीं। इसके बाद दोनों ओर से जबरदस्त फायरिंग शुरू हो गई।

मुठभेड़ में चार कथित शूटर मारे गए, जबकि एक घायल हो गया। इस दौरान तीन पुलिसकर्मी भी गोली लगने से घायल हुए, हालांकि उनकी हालत खतरे से बाहर बताई जा रही है। पुलिस ने विशाल बेरी को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाल लिया।

शहर के सबसे सुरक्षित और समृद्ध इलाकों में गिने जाने वाले सुशांत लोक में अचानक हुई इस गोलीबारी से लोगों में अफरा-तफरी मच गई। स्थानीय निवासियों ने बताया कि लगातार गोलियों की आवाजें कई मिनट तक सुनाई देती रहीं।

भारी पुलिस बल ने पूरे क्षेत्र को घेरकर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था संभाली, जिसके बाद फोरेंसिक विशेषज्ञों ने घटनास्थल से साक्ष्य जुटाने शुरू किए।

इस मुठभेड़ के बाद एक बार फिर दीपक नांदल की आपराधिक पृष्ठभूमि चर्चा में आ गई है। कभी हरियाणवी संगीत जगत में सक्रिय रहने वाला यह नाम आज पुलिस की नजर में कथित अंतरराष्ट्रीय अपराध नेटवर्क का प्रमुख चेहरा बन चुका है।

करीब छह वर्ष पहले तक नांदल का नाम हरियाणवी गायक राहुल फाजिलपुरिया और रैपर बादशाह के साथ जुड़ा हुआ था। उसने सुपरहिट गीत ‘कर गई चुल’ के मूल हरियाणवी संस्करण का निर्माण किया था।

इसके अलावा ‘2 Many Girls’ और ‘Haryana Roadways’ जैसे लोकप्रिय गीतों से भी उसका जुड़ाव रहा। वह कई म्यूजिक वीडियो में कलाकारों के साथ दिखाई भी दिया था। उस समय दिए गए एक साक्षात्कार में उसने बादशाह और फाजिलपुरिया को अपने भाइयों जैसा बताया था।

साल 2019 में नांदल पहली बार बड़े विवादों में तब आया, जब उस पर सोशल मीडिया इन्फ्लुएंसर दीपक कलाल के साथ कथित मारपीट करने का आरोप लगा।

बताया गया कि यह विवाद फाजिलपुरिया के खिलाफ कथित आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणियों को लेकर हुआ था। उस समय यह मामला काफी चर्चा में रहा, लेकिन बाद में नांदल का नाम कहीं अधिक गंभीर आपराधिक मामलों में सामने आने लगा।

हरियाणा पुलिस का दावा है कि समय के साथ नांदल स्थानीय विवादों से आगे बढ़कर अवैध हथियारों की तस्करी, रंगदारी वसूली और सुपारी देकर हत्या जैसे संगठित अपराधों में सक्रिय हो गया। जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार उसने धीरे-धीरे कई राज्यों में फैले एक संगठित गिरोह का नेटवर्क खड़ा कर लिया।

पुलिस का आरोप है कि वर्ष 2023 में भारत छोड़ने के बाद नांदल विदेश से अपने नेटवर्क का संचालन कर रहा है। जांचकर्ताओं का मानना है कि वह अलग-अलग समय पर ब्रिटेन, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (यूएई) और कनाडा में सक्रिय रहा है, हालांकि उसकी वर्तमान लोकेशन की आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है।

पुलिस का कहना है कि वह हरियाणा, दिल्ली-एनसीआर और पंजाब में मौजूद अपने सहयोगियों के जरिए अपराधों को अंजाम दिलाता था तथा एन्क्रिप्टेड मैसेजिंग ऐप और सोशल मीडिया का इस्तेमाल कर पुलिस की निगरानी से बचने की कोशिश करता था।

जांच एजेंसियां नांदल के खिलाफ रेड कॉर्नर नोटिस जारी कराने की प्रक्रिया भी आगे बढ़ा रही हैं। पुलिस का मानना है कि गुरुवार रात की कार्रवाई उसके कथित नेटवर्क पर अब तक की सबसे बड़ी चोटों में से एक है।

घायल आरोपी से पूछताछ और फोरेंसिक जांच के बाद मामले में कई और अहम खुलासे होने की संभावना जताई जा रही है.
