Delhi Police Say 118 Personnel Injured During ‘Chalo Sansad’ Protest, Around 70 Demonstrators Detained
New Delhi: Following violent clashes during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on Monday, the Delhi Police alleged that sections of the protesters turned aggressive, attacked security personnel, damaged government property and attempted to force their way through security barricades, resulting in injuries to more than 118 police personnel, including several senior officers.
Issuing a detailed statement after unrest gripped parts of central Delhi, the police claimed that demonstrators repeatedly ignored prohibitory orders despite being asked several times to disperse peacefully.
According to the statement, participants allegedly refused to comply with lawful instructions and continued their protest in violation of restrictions imposed in the area.
The police further alleged that protesters resorted to stone-pelting and threw various objects at security personnel while attempting to push past barricades erected to secure the route.
Authorities also claimed that police vehicles, other government automobiles and public property were vandalised during the confrontation, creating a serious challenge to law and order.
Describing the sequence of events, the official statement maintained that the protesters allegedly attacked police teams with stones and other projectiles, tried to break through security barriers and caused widespread damage to government assets.
The police asserted that the violence disrupted public order, endangered security arrangements and posed a threat to personnel deployed to maintain peace and enforce the law.
Explaining the police response, Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma said the procession towards Parliament violated prohibitory orders already in force in the area, making the gathering unlawful under the prevailing restrictions.
He stated that police were compelled to intervene after incidents of stone-pelting were reported and confirmed that several protesters had been taken into custody.
Appropriate legal proceedings, he added, were being initiated against those involved.
Even after the main protest site was cleared and the principal stage dismantled on Monday evening, senior police officials said a final decision was yet to be taken regarding the removal of the remaining demonstrators.
Among those continuing to stay at the site were CJP convener Abhijeet Dipke and party spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, who returned after the initial police operation.
Giving an update on the injuries sustained during the clashes, police said more than 118 personnel were hurt while handling the protest.
The injured included officers holding the ranks of Special Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Medical examinations and medico-legal formalities of the injured officers were still underway.
Authorities also alleged that government assets suffered significant damage during the violence.
According to the police, nearly 15 to 20 government vehicles, besides other public property, were vandalised during the unrest.
Providing details of the legal action initiated after the clashes, police said nearly 70 protesters had been detained so far.
An FIR was being registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable laws relating to rioting, assault on public servants, destruction of public property and other offences.
Officials added that security deployment across central Delhi would continue as the situation remained under close watch.

नई दिल्ली: कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी (सीजेपी) के ‘चलो संसद’ मार्च के दौरान सोमवार को हुई झड़पों के बाद दिल्ली पुलिस ने आरोप लगाया कि प्रदर्शनकारियों का एक वर्ग उग्र हो गया, जिसने पुलिसकर्मियों पर हमला किया, सरकारी संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचाया और सुरक्षा बैरिकेड तोड़कर आगे बढ़ने का प्रयास किया।
पुलिस के अनुसार इस पूरे घटनाक्रम में 118 से अधिक पुलिसकर्मी घायल हुए, जिनमें कई वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी शामिल हैं।
मध्य दिल्ली के विभिन्न इलाकों में तनावपूर्ण स्थिति के बाद जारी विस्तृत बयान में पुलिस ने कहा कि प्रदर्शनकारियों को कई बार शांतिपूर्वक हट जाने की चेतावनी दी गई, लेकिन उन्होंने निषेधाज्ञा का लगातार उल्लंघन किया।
पुलिस का दावा है कि कानून के तहत दिए गए निर्देशों की अनदेखी करते हुए प्रदर्शन जारी रखा गया और लागू प्रतिबंधों का पालन नहीं किया गया।
अपने बयान में पुलिस ने आरोप लगाया कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने सुरक्षा बलों पर पथराव किया और अन्य वस्तुएं भी फेंकी।
साथ ही, उन्होंने सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के लिए लगाए गए बैरिकेड पार करने का प्रयास किया। पुलिस का कहना है कि इस दौरान पुलिस वाहनों, अन्य सरकारी गाड़ियों तथा सार्वजनिक संपत्ति को भी नुकसान पहुंचाया गया, जिससे कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखना चुनौतीपूर्ण हो गया।
घटनाक्रम का विवरण देते हुए पुलिस ने कहा कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने कथित तौर पर पत्थरों और अन्य वस्तुओं से पुलिस बल पर हमला किया, सुरक्षा घेरा तोड़ने की कोशिश की और सरकारी संसाधनों को व्यापक क्षति पहुंचाई।
पुलिस के अनुसार इन घटनाओं से न केवल सार्वजनिक व्यवस्था प्रभावित हुई बल्कि सुरक्षा प्रबंधों और कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखने में जुटे पुलिसकर्मियों की सुरक्षा भी खतरे में पड़ गई।
कार्रवाई का पक्ष रखते हुए संयुक्त पुलिस आयुक्त (सेंट्रल रेंज) मधुर वर्मा ने कहा कि संसद की ओर निकाला गया मार्च उस क्षेत्र में लागू निषेधाज्ञा का उल्लंघन था, जिसके कारण यह जमावड़ा अवैध श्रेणी में आ गया और पुलिस को हस्तक्षेप करना पड़ा।
उन्होंने बताया कि पथराव की घटनाएं सामने आने के बाद कुछ प्रदर्शनकारियों को हिरासत में लिया गया है तथा उनके खिलाफ कानून के अनुसार उचित कार्रवाई की जा रही है।
सोमवार शाम पुलिस द्वारा मुख्य मंच हटाए जाने और प्रदर्शन स्थल खाली कराए जाने के बावजूद वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने कहा कि वहां मौजूद शेष प्रदर्शनकारियों को हटाने पर अभी अंतिम निर्णय नहीं लिया गया है।
इनमें सीजेपी के संयोजक अभिजीत दिपके तथा पार्टी के प्रवक्ता आशुतोष रांका और सौरव दास भी शामिल हैं, जो पुलिस कार्रवाई के बाद दोबारा धरना स्थल पर लौट आए।
घायलों के संबंध में जानकारी देते हुए पुलिस ने बताया कि प्रदर्शन के दौरान 118 से अधिक पुलिसकर्मी घायल हुए हैं।
इनमें विशेष पुलिस आयुक्त, संयुक्त पुलिस आयुक्त, अतिरिक्त पुलिस आयुक्त, पुलिस उपायुक्त, अतिरिक्त पुलिस उपायुक्त तथा सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त स्तर के अधिकारी भी शामिल हैं। सभी घायल अधिकारियों का चिकित्सकीय परीक्षण और मेडिको-लीगल प्रक्रिया जारी है।
सरकारी संपत्ति को हुए नुकसान का उल्लेख करते हुए पुलिस ने दावा किया कि हिंसा के दौरान लगभग 15 से 20 सरकारी वाहनों के अलावा अन्य सार्वजनिक संपत्तियों को भी क्षति पहुंचाई गई। नुकसान का विस्तृत आकलन किया जा रहा है।
कानूनी कार्रवाई की जानकारी देते हुए अधिकारियों ने बताया कि अब तक करीब 70 प्रदर्शनकारियों को हिरासत में लिया जा चुका है।
उनके खिलाफ भारतीय न्याय संहिता तथा अन्य संबंधित कानूनों की विभिन्न धाराओं के तहत दंगा करने, लोक सेवकों पर हमला करने, सरकारी संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचाने और अन्य आरोपों में प्राथमिकी दर्ज की जा रही है।
पुलिस ने कहा कि हालात पर लगातार नजर रखी जा रही है और मध्य दिल्ली में सुरक्षा बलों की अतिरिक्त तैनाती फिलहाल जारी रहेगी।
