Insider Greed Allegedly Sparked One of Delhi’s Most Audacious Robberies
What initially appeared to be a perfectly executed armed robbery in Delhi has now emerged as a crime allegedly fuelled by greed from within the victim company itself.
Investigators say an employee of a cash-management firm, lured by the prospect of making easy money, allegedly leaked sensitive information about cash movements to his associates.
This insider tip-off is believed to have laid the foundation for the daring robbery of Rs 1.5 crore near Inderlok in June.
Police Crack Case Within Eleven Days
The broad-daylight heist, carried out at gunpoint on June 10, was unravelled in just eleven days through an extensive investigation by the Delhi Police.
Investigators examined footage from more than 500 surveillance cameras, traced the movements of the accused across eight states and followed a trail stretching nearly 4,000 kilometres.
Their efforts culminated in the arrest of all six adult accused and the apprehension of two juveniles allegedly involved in the crime.
Police have also recovered Rs 1.01 crore from the looted amount.
‘A Breach of Trust and a Lesson in Coordinated Policing’
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma described the case as an example of how internal leaks can facilitate organised crimes.
He said the robbery had been carefully orchestrated and became possible because an employee allegedly betrayed the trust placed in him by his employer.
Verma said the investigation demanded close coordination between district police units and the Crime Branch, extensive technical analysis and continuous operations across multiple states.
Despite the accused repeatedly changing their locations to avoid detection, police teams followed every lead, arrested all the conspirators and recovered a substantial portion of the stolen money.
How the Conspiracy Was Allegedly Hatched
According to investigators, Karan, a 26-year-old employee of the cash-handling company, possessed detailed knowledge about the transportation schedules of large cash consignments.
Police believe that, motivated by financial temptation, he began passing real-time information regarding cash movement to his associates, Viresh alias Veeru and Manpreet alias Twinkle.
Investigators said the duo subsequently involved two alleged habitual offenders, Vicky alias Ganja and Dhir Singh, assigning them the task of carrying out the actual robbery.
The Day of the Robbery
Police said that on June 10, complainant Nitin and his colleague Karan were transporting approximately Rs 1.5 crore in cash packed in two bags. They were travelling on a scooter from Paschim Vihar towards their destination.
As they approached the Zakhira flyover in the Sarai Rohilla area, their scooter was intercepted by two helmet-wearing men riding a red Pulsar motorcycle that bore no registration number.
One of the assailants allegedly pointed a pistol at the victims while the other snatched the bags containing cash. Within moments, the attackers sped away, leaving the victims shocked and helpless.
Following the incident, a criminal case was registered at Sarai Rohilla police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
Investigators Discover a Carefully Planned Operation
During the initial stages of the probe, investigators realised that the robbery was not an impulsive act but a carefully planned operation.
Joint teams comprising officers from Sarai Rohilla police station, the North district’s Special Staff and the Crime Branch reconstructed the entire sequence through technical evidence and digital analysis.
CCTV Footage Reveals the Trail
Police said footage from surveillance cameras showed that the accused had begun tracking the cash-carrying scooter right from Paschim Vihar.
They allegedly followed it for several kilometres before launching the attack near Inderlok and subsequently escaping towards Punjabi Bagh.
As investigators expanded their examination of CCTV footage, they identified not only the red Pulsar motorcycle but also a scooter and a Maruti Swift car that had allegedly been used at different stages of the crime.
The registration details of the scooter eventually led police to two juveniles. During questioning, the teenagers allegedly provided information that directed investigators towards Viresh.
One Arrest Leads to Another
Police said questioning of Viresh exposed the larger conspiracy and enabled investigators to trace Manpreet and eventually Karan, who allegedly kept sharing the complainant’s live location with his associates throughout the journey.
Further interrogation of Karan reportedly revealed the involvement of Manpreet’s father, Charanjeet Singh.
Police alleged that he participated in the conspiracy and helped conceal a portion of the stolen cash. Nearly Rs 49.5 lakh was recovered from Karan, Viresh and Charanjeet.
A Multi-State Manhunt
The search for the two armed suspects, Vicky and Dhir Singh, evolved into a large-scale interstate operation.
By identifying the owner of the Maruti Swift allegedly used in the crime, investigators established the identities of the two accused.
Police said that immediately after the robbery, they fled Delhi and travelled through Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab before eventually reaching Jammu in an attempt to evade arrest.
Officials said police teams kept them under surveillance and continued pursuing them relentlessly for eleven days.
When the two allegedly began making their way back to Delhi, officers intercepted and arrested them on June 22. Another Rs 52 lakh was recovered from their possession.
Money Divided and New Phones Purchased
According to investigators, after executing the robbery, the gang regrouped in Tilak Nagar. They allegedly distributed the looted money among themselves and then dispersed in different directions to avoid suspicion.
Police said some of the accused even purchased new mobile phones using the stolen money. These devices have since been seized and are being examined as part of the investigation.
Technical Evidence and Groundwork Solved the Case
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia, who supervised the investigation, said the case was solved through a combination of technical evidence and persistent field operations.
He said the investigation clearly established that the conspiracy had originated from within the victim company.
Police teams painstakingly analysed footage from more than 500 CCTV cameras, reconstructed the movement of multiple vehicles and pursued the accused across eight states over eleven days.
According to him, every individual allegedly involved in the conspiracy has now been identified and more than Rs 1 crore of the stolen cash has been recovered.
Criminal Histories of the Accused
Among those arrested are Vicky alias Ganja, aged 41, who has previously been involved in nine criminal cases, and Dhir Singh, aged 43, who allegedly has links to 18 criminal cases.
Police said both men had only recently been released from prison.
The remaining accused include Viresh alias Veeru, Karan, Manpreet alias Twinkle, Charanjeet Singh and two juveniles who allegedly arranged the motorcycle and scooter used during the robbery.

लालच ने रची दिल्ली की सबसे साहसिक लूट की साजिश
दिल्ली में हुई एक बेहद सुनियोजित और सनसनीखेज लूट की घटना अब ऐसे मोड़ पर पहुंच गई है, जहां जांच एजेंसियों का दावा है कि इस अपराध की जड़ में कंपनी के भीतर से हुई विश्वासघात की घटना है। जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, नकदी प्रबंधन कंपनी के एक कर्मचारी ने जल्द और आसान पैसा कमाने के लालच में कथित रूप से नकदी के आवागमन से जुड़ी गोपनीय जानकारी अपने परिचितों तक पहुंचाई। यही अंदरूनी सूचना जून में इंदरलोक के पास हुई करीब 1.5 करोड़ रुपये की लूट की नींव बनी।
ग्यारह दिनों में पुलिस ने सुलझाया मामला
10 जून को दिनदहाड़े हथियारों के बल पर अंजाम दी गई इस वारदात का दिल्ली पुलिस ने महज 11 दिनों में पर्दाफाश कर दिया। पुलिस ने 500 से अधिक सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज खंगाली, आरोपियों के आठ राज्यों में फैले आवागमन का पता लगाया और लगभग 4,000 किलोमीटर लंबे पीछा अभियान को अंजाम दिया। इस व्यापक कार्रवाई के परिणामस्वरूप सभी छह वयस्क आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया तथा दो नाबालिगों को भी हिरासत में लिया गया। पुलिस ने लूटी गई रकम में से 1.01 करोड़ रुपये भी बरामद कर लिए हैं।
‘विश्वासघात और समन्वित पुलिसिंग का उदाहरण’
मंगलवार को आयोजित प्रेस वार्ता में संयुक्त पुलिस आयुक्त मधुर वर्मा ने कहा कि यह मामला दिखाता है कि किस प्रकार अंदरूनी सूचनाओं का दुरुपयोग संगठित अपराधों को जन्म दे सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह लूट अत्यंत सूक्ष्म योजना के साथ अंजाम दी गई और कथित तौर पर कंपनी के एक कर्मचारी ने अपने नियोक्ता द्वारा उस पर किए गए भरोसे को तोड़ते हुए अपराधियों की मदद की।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस जांच के लिए जिला पुलिस और अपराध शाखा के बीच उत्कृष्ट तालमेल, तकनीकी विश्लेषण और कई राज्यों में लगातार अभियान चलाने की आवश्यकता पड़ी। आरोपियों द्वारा लगातार स्थान बदलने के बावजूद पुलिस ने हर सुराग का पीछा किया, सभी साजिशकर्ताओं को पकड़ लिया और लूटी गई बड़ी राशि बरामद करने में सफलता हासिल की।
कैसे तैयार हुई कथित साजिश
जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, 26 वर्षीय करण नकदी प्रबंधन कंपनी में कार्यरत था और उसे बड़ी धनराशि की ढुलाई संबंधी गतिविधियों की विस्तृत जानकारी थी। पुलिस का आरोप है कि आर्थिक लालच से प्रेरित होकर उसने नकदी की आवाजाही से जुड़ी ताजा सूचनाएं अपने परिचितों वीरेश उर्फ वीरू और मनप्रीत उर्फ ट्विंकल को देना शुरू कर दिया।
पुलिस का कहना है कि दोनों ने बाद में कथित रूप से आदतन अपराधी विक्की उर्फ गंजा और धीर सिंह को योजना में शामिल किया और उन्हें लूट की वारदात को अंजाम देने की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी।
वारदात वाले दिन क्या हुआ
पुलिस के अनुसार, 10 जून को शिकायतकर्ता नितिन और उसका सहकर्मी करण दो बैगों में करीब 1.5 करोड़ रुपये नकद लेकर पश्चिम विहार से एक स्कूटर पर जा रहे थे।
जब वे सराय रोहिल्ला क्षेत्र के जखीरा फ्लाईओवर के पास पहुंचे, तभी बिना नंबर वाली लाल रंग की पल्सर मोटरसाइकिल पर सवार दो हेलमेटधारी व्यक्तियों ने उनका रास्ता रोक लिया। आरोप है कि उनमें से एक ने पीड़ितों पर पिस्तौल तान दी, जबकि दूसरे ने नकदी से भरे दोनों बैग छीन लिए। कुछ ही क्षणों में दोनों हमलावर मौके से फरार हो गए।
घटना के बाद सराय रोहिल्ला थाने में भारतीय न्याय संहिता और शस्त्र अधिनियम की संबंधित धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया।
शुरुआती जांच में सामने आई सुनियोजित तैयारी
जांच के प्रारंभिक चरण में ही पुलिस को एहसास हो गया था कि यह कोई आकस्मिक अपराध नहीं, बल्कि पूरी योजना और तैयारी के साथ की गई संगठित लूट थी। सराय रोहिल्ला थाने, उत्तरी जिले की विशेष स्टाफ टीम और अपराध शाखा के अधिकारियों ने तकनीकी साक्ष्यों और डिजिटल विश्लेषण के माध्यम से पूरी घटना का क्रम दोबारा तैयार किया।
सीसीटीवी फुटेज ने खोले कई राज
पुलिस के अनुसार, निगरानी कैमरों की फुटेज से पता चला कि आरोपी पश्चिम विहार से ही नकदी ले जा रहे स्कूटर का पीछा कर रहे थे। कई किलोमीटर तक पीछा करने के बाद उन्होंने इंदरलोक के पास वारदात को अंजाम दिया और फिर पंजाबी बाग की ओर भाग निकले।
जैसे-जैसे पुलिस ने सीसीटीवी नेटवर्क का विस्तार से विश्लेषण किया, उन्हें लाल पल्सर मोटरसाइकिल के अलावा एक स्कूटर और एक मारुति स्विफ्ट कार की भी जानकारी मिली, जिनका कथित रूप से अलग-अलग चरणों में इस्तेमाल किया गया था।
स्कूटर के पंजीकरण विवरण के आधार पर पुलिस दो नाबालिगों तक पहुंची। पूछताछ के दौरान उनसे मिली जानकारी ने जांचकर्ताओं को वीरेश तक पहुंचने में मदद की।
एक गिरफ्तारी से खुलती गई पूरी साजिश
पुलिस का कहना है कि वीरेश से पूछताछ के बाद पूरे षड्यंत्र की परतें खुलनी शुरू हुईं। इससे जांचकर्ता मनप्रीत और अंततः करण तक पहुंचने में सफल हुए। आरोप है कि करण पूरे सफर के दौरान शिकायतकर्ता की लाइव लोकेशन लगातार अपने साथियों को भेज रहा था।
आगे की पूछताछ में मनप्रीत के पिता चरणजीत सिंह की कथित भूमिका भी सामने आई। पुलिस का आरोप है कि उन्होंने न केवल साजिश में भागीदारी की, बल्कि लूटी गई रकम को छिपाने में भी मदद की। करण, वीरेश और चरणजीत के पास से करीब 49.5 लाख रुपये बरामद किए गए।
आठ राज्यों तक फैला पीछा
दो हथियारबंद आरोपियों, विक्की और धीर सिंह, की तलाश एक बड़े अंतरराज्यीय अभियान में बदल गई।
मारुति स्विफ्ट के मालिक की पहचान होने के बाद पुलिस आरोपियों तक पहुंची। पुलिस के मुताबिक, वारदात के तुरंत बाद दोनों दिल्ली से भाग गए और हरियाणा, राजस्थान, उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड तथा पंजाब होते हुए जम्मू पहुंच गए, ताकि गिरफ्तारी से बच सकें।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, पुलिस की टीमें लगातार 11 दिनों तक उनका पीछा करती रहीं। जब दोनों वापस दिल्ली लौटने लगे, तब 22 जून को पुलिस ने उन्हें रास्ते में ही दबोच लिया। उनके कब्जे से 52 लाख रुपये और बरामद किए गए।
लूट के बाद बांटी रकम, खरीदे नए मोबाइल
जांचकर्ताओं के मुताबिक, वारदात के बाद पूरा गिरोह तिलक नगर में दोबारा एकत्र हुआ। वहां लूटी गई रकम को आपस में बांटा गया और फिर सभी अलग-अलग दिशाओं में निकल गए, ताकि संदेह से बचा जा सके।
पुलिस ने बताया कि कुछ आरोपियों ने चोरी के पैसे से नए मोबाइल फोन भी खरीदे थे। इन उपकरणों को अब जब्त कर लिया गया है और जांच के लिए उनकी भी पड़ताल की जा रही है।
तकनीकी साक्ष्य और लगातार फील्डवर्क से सुलझा मामला
जांच की निगरानी कर रहे उत्तरी जिले के पुलिस उपायुक्त राजा बंथिया ने कहा कि यह मामला आधुनिक तकनीकी जांच और जमीनी स्तर पर निरंतर मेहनत का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है।
उन्होंने कहा कि जांच से स्पष्ट हुआ है कि इस पूरी साजिश की शुरुआत पीड़ित कंपनी के भीतर से हुई थी। पुलिस टीमों ने 500 से अधिक सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज का विश्लेषण किया, कई वाहनों की गतिविधियों को दोबारा जोड़ा और 11 दिनों तक आठ राज्यों में आरोपियों का पीछा किया। उन्होंने कहा कि साजिश में शामिल प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की पहचान कर ली गई है और एक करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की लूटी गई राशि बरामद की जा चुकी है।
आरोपियों का आपराधिक इतिहास
गिरफ्तार आरोपियों में 41 वर्षीय विक्की उर्फ गंजा शामिल है, जिसके खिलाफ पहले से नौ आपराधिक मामले दर्ज हैं। वहीं 43 वर्षीय धीर सिंह कथित रूप से 18 आपराधिक मामलों में संलिप्त रहा है।
पुलिस के अनुसार, दोनों हाल ही में जेल से रिहा हुए थे। अन्य आरोपियों में वीरेश उर्फ वीरू, करण, मनप्रीत उर्फ ट्विंकल, चरणजीत सिंह और दो नाबालिग शामिल हैं, जिन्होंने कथित तौर पर वारदात में प्रयुक्त मोटरसाइकिल और स्कूटर की व्यवस्था की थी।
