FARIDABAD: A police investigation is underway after a 16-year-old student died following a fall from the third-floor terrace of a private school in Faridabad’s NIT area, with questions now centred on what happened inside the campus shortly before the tragedy.
The Class XI student was taken to hospital after the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
She was first taken to a nearby healthcare centre and later brought to the district civil hospital, where doctors could not save her and declared her dead on arrival.
Authorities are examining CCTV recordings from the school as they seek to establish a clear timeline.
Investigators are expected to focus on footage showing the student’s movements within the premises, particularly the period before she reached the terrace.
A dispute over how the teenager was treated at school has emerged as a key aspect of the case.
Her family has alleged that she was subjected to prolonged disciplinary action after an incident involving other students.
Her father has claimed that she was kept standing outside her classroom for several hours.
According to the family, the alleged punishment had a profound effect on the teenager.
Her father said she had been doing well academically and appeared normal when she left home that morning.
He told reporters that she returned to neither home nor safety after what he described as an experience that left her deeply humiliated.
The family has also questioned the timing of the information they received about the incident, alleging that they were informed only after a delay.
The school has disputed the family’s account and told police that the teenager had not been subjected to the punishment alleged by her relatives.
Senior police officials said the management has categorically denied both the claim of several hours of punishment and allegations of mistreatment.
The school’s account places the events differently.
Police said the principal told investigators that the student had sought permission to go to the washroom and was accompanied by a female member of the staff.
She subsequently headed towards the terrace, according to the school’s statement, and jumped before the accompanying staff member or others could prevent her.
With the two versions differing significantly, investigators are examining documentary and electronic evidence rather than concluding this stage.
CCTV footage is being scrutinised to establish the sequence of events and determine whether the circumstances described by either side are supported by the available evidence.
Police spokesperson SI Yashpal Yadav said the student’s parents submitted an application early Wednesday seeking a post-mortem examination.
He said that, as of then, the family had not filed a formal police complaint accusing the school of wrongdoing.
The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further medical evidence for the investigation.
Police have indicated that subsequent legal action will depend on the autopsy findings and any formal complaint submitted by the family.
The death has brought renewed attention to the importance of responsible student supervision and the manner in which disciplinary measures are handled within educational institutions.
In this case, however, investigators have yet to establish whether the alleged punishment had any connection with the fatal incident, and the competing claims remain under examination.

फरीदाबाद: फरीदाबाद के एनआईटी क्षेत्र के एक निजी स्कूल में 16 वर्षीय छात्रा की मौत के बाद पुलिस जांच का केंद्र अब उन परिस्थितियों पर है, जो मंगलवार दोपहर उसे तीसरी मंजिल की छत तक ले गईं।
घटना को लेकर छात्रा के परिवार और स्कूल प्रबंधन की ओर से अलग-अलग बातें सामने आई हैं।
कक्षा 11 में पढ़ने वाली छात्रा को स्कूल परिसर में हुई घटना के बाद पहले नजदीकी स्वास्थ्य केंद्र ले जाया गया। बाद में उसे जिला सिविल अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया, जहां चिकित्सकों ने उसे मृत घोषित कर दिया।
पुलिस के मुताबिक हादसा दोपहर लगभग 1 बजे से 1:30 बजे के बीच हुआ।
मामले में सबसे अहम सुराग स्कूल परिसर में लगे CCTV कैमरों की रिकॉर्डिंग मानी जा रही है।
पुलिस इन फुटेज के जरिए यह पता लगाने की कोशिश कर रही है कि छात्रा कक्षा से निकलने के बाद किन स्थानों से गुजरी और घटना से ठीक पहले उसके साथ क्या हुआ।
इसी बीच छात्रा के परिजनों ने स्कूल में उसके साथ हुए कथित व्यवहार को लेकर गंभीर सवाल उठाए हैं।
पिता का कहना है कि दिन में कुछ विद्यार्थियों के बीच हुए विवाद के बाद उनकी बेटी को अनुशासनात्मक कार्रवाई का सामना करना पड़ा था।
परिवार का आरोप है कि छात्रा को लंबे समय तक कक्षा के बाहर खड़ा रहने के लिए मजबूर किया गया।
पिता के अनुसार, इस व्यवहार से बेटी काफी आहत हुई थी।
उन्होंने बताया कि वह पढ़ाई में अच्छी थी और मंगलवार सुबह स्कूल के लिए निकलते समय उसके व्यवहार में किसी तरह की असामान्यता नजर नहीं आई थी।
परिजनों ने यह भी दावा किया है कि उन्हें घटना की जानकारी समय पर नहीं मिली और काफी देर बाद इसकी सूचना दी गई।
स्कूल प्रबंधन ने हालांकि परिवार के आरोपों को स्वीकार नहीं किया है।
पुलिस अधिकारियों के अनुसार, विद्यालय ने जांच के दौरान साफ कहा कि छात्रा को कथित तौर पर कई घंटों तक कक्षा से बाहर खड़ा नहीं कराया गया था और उसके साथ दुर्व्यवहार किए जाने की बात भी सही नहीं है।
प्रबंधन ने घटना से पहले की स्थिति का अपना अलग विवरण पुलिस के सामने रखा है।
अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, प्रधानाचार्य ने बताया कि छात्रा ने वॉशरूम जाने की अनुमति मांगी थी और एक महिला कर्मचारी उसके साथ थी।
स्कूल का कहना है कि इसके बाद छात्रा छत की दिशा में चली गई और उसे रोकने का प्रयास किए जाने से पहले ही उसने छलांग लगा दी।
जांच आगे बढ़ने के साथ पुलिस फिलहाल दोनों पक्षों के दावों की स्वतंत्र रूप से पड़ताल कर रही है।
स्कूल की रिकॉर्डिंग के अलावा घटना से जुड़े अन्य साक्ष्यों को भी जांच का हिस्सा बनाया जा रहा है, ताकि किसी निष्कर्ष पर पहुंचने से पहले घटनाक्रम की वास्तविक तस्वीर सामने आ सके।
फरीदाबाद पुलिस के प्रवक्ता एसआई यशपाल यादव ने बताया कि छात्रा के माता-पिता ने बुधवार तड़के पोस्टमार्टम कराने के लिए आवेदन दिया।
उन्होंने कहा कि उस समय तक परिवार की ओर से स्कूल के खिलाफ आरोप लगाते हुए कोई औपचारिक शिकायत दर्ज नहीं कराई गई थी।
पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट से मौत के चिकित्सकीय कारणों और चोटों से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य सामने आने की उम्मीद है।
पुलिस के अनुसार, रिपोर्ट और परिवार की ओर से दर्ज कराई जाने वाली औपचारिक शिकायत के आधार पर आगे की कानूनी प्रक्रिया तय की जाएगी।
छात्रा की मौत ने स्कूलों में विद्यार्थियों की निगरानी, अनुशासन लागू करने के तरीकों और संकट की स्थिति में तत्काल प्रतिक्रिया जैसे मुद्दों को भी सामने ला दिया है।
हालांकि इस मामले में कथित सजा और छात्रा की मौत के बीच किसी प्रत्यक्ष संबंध की अभी पुष्टि नहीं हुई है। पुलिस जांच पूरी होने के बाद ही घटना की परिस्थितियों और जिम्मेदारी को लेकर स्थिति स्पष्ट हो सकेगी।
