Four Cricket Players Dead After Ertiga Crashes Into Truck on Purvanchal Expressway
Deoria-bound cricket players returning from Lucknow tournament met with a fatal accident near Baldirai on Purvanchal Expressway.
SULTANPUR: A return journey from a cricket tournament in Lucknow ended in tragedy for a group of young players when their Ertiga collided with a truck on the Purvanchal Expressway early Wednesday, killing four passengers and leaving two others seriously injured.
The crash took place in the Baldirai police station area. The vehicle was travelling towards Deoria when it rammed into a truck from behind.
The force of the collision proved fatal for three occupants, including the driver. They died before they could be taken to hospital. Three other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kumar Ganj for medical attention.
Doctors at the local facility, after assessing their condition, shifted all three patients to the Medical College at Darshan Nagar in Ayodhya for specialised treatment. One of them, Anand Yadav, later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Two injured passengers are still admitted to the medical college, where doctors are treating them.
The deceased have been identified as Nitya Prajapati, 22, Irfan Ansari, 20, Aniket, 24, and Anand Yadav, 22. All of them belonged to Deoria district.
The group had been in Lucknow for a tennis-ball cricket tournament. Injured passenger Jayanto Sharma said the travellers were professional players and were heading home after completing their participation in the competition.
According to Sharma, most of the passengers were asleep during the journey. He said he therefore could not explain how the vehicle ended up colliding with the truck.
The accident has left the local cricket community mourning the deaths of four young players. The circumstances immediately preceding the collision are expected to become clearer as authorities examine the incident.

सुल्तानपुर: लखनऊ में क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा लेने के बाद देवरिया लौट रहे युवाओं की यात्रा बुधवार सुबह दर्दनाक हादसे में बदल गई। पूर्वांचल एक्सप्रेसवे पर एक अर्टिगा कार ट्रक से टकरा गई। दुर्घटना में चार लोगों की जान चली गई, जबकि दो अन्य घायल हो गए।
हादसा बल्दीराय थाना क्षेत्र के पास करीब सुबह पौने छह बजे हुआ। बताया जा रहा है कि कार देवरिया की ओर जा रही थी। इसी दौरान वह आगे चल रहे ट्रक से जा भिड़ी।
टक्कर के बाद कार में चीख-पुकार मच गई। दुर्घटना इतनी भीषण थी कि तीन यात्रियों ने मौके पर ही दम तोड़ दिया। इनमें कार चालक भी शामिल था। हादसे में घायल तीन लोगों को तत्काल कुमारगंज ले जाया गया।
प्राथमिक चिकित्सा के बाद तीनों की हालत चिंताजनक पाए जाने पर चिकित्सकों ने उन्हें अयोध्या के दर्शन नगर स्थित मेडिकल कॉलेज भेज दिया। उपचार के दौरान आनंद यादव की हालत बिगड़ गई और बाद में उसकी मौत हो गई।
अब दो घायल मेडिकल कॉलेज में चिकित्सकों की निगरानी में हैं। दोनों का इलाज जारी है।
हादसे में जान गंवाने वालों की पहचान नित्या प्रजापति (22), इरफान अंसारी (20), अनिकेत (24) और आनंद यादव (22) के रूप में हुई है। चारों देवरिया जिले के निवासी थे।
घायल जयंतो शर्मा के मुताबिक, कार में सवार लोग पेशेवर टेनिस-बॉल क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी थे। सभी लखनऊ में आयोजित एक प्रतियोगिता में खेलने गए थे और मैच पूरा होने के बाद अपने घर देवरिया वापस जा रहे थे।
जयंतो ने बताया कि सफर के दौरान यात्री सो रहे थे। इस वजह से उन्हें दुर्घटना से पहले की स्थिति के बारे में कुछ पता नहीं चल सका। उन्हें यह भी मालूम नहीं कि कार अचानक किस परिस्थिति में ट्रक से टकराई।
एक साथ चार युवाओं की मौत से देवरिया के खेल जगत में शोक का माहौल है। हादसे की वास्तविक वजह और टक्कर से पहले घटनाक्रम क्या था, इसकी तस्वीर जांच के बाद और स्पष्ट हो सकेगी।
