Ghaziabad Encounter: ₹50,000 Rewarded Criminal Killed in Police Operation, Constable Injured

A wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000 was killed during a police encounter in Ghaziabad on Saturday night.

The accused, identified as Asad, had been on the run in connection with the murder of Suraj Pratap Chauhan. During the exchange of fire, a police constable sustained bullet injuries, while one of Asad’s associates managed to flee from the scene.

According to police officials, the case stemmed from a dispute involving a motorcycle.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation in which Asad and several of his companions were accused of fatally attacking Suraj Pratap Chauhan.

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies launched an extensive search operation to track down the suspects.

Investigators had earlier arrested Asad’s father and two of his associates in connection with the murder case.

Asad, however, remained absconding, prompting authorities to announce a cash reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Police said they received intelligence regarding Asad’s whereabouts on Saturday night. Acting on the tip-off, officers attempted to intercept him. During the operation,

Asad allegedly opened fire on the police team, leading to a retaliatory response. A constable was injured in the gunfire, while Asad suffered critical injuries.

He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.

Senior police officials stated that legal procedures are being followed and that efforts are underway to apprehend the associate who escaped during the encounter.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family expressed grief and demanded strict action against all those involved in the murder.

Suraj Pratap Chauhan’s mother said her son was the primary support of the family and urged authorities to ensure that every accused person connected to the crime is brought to justice.

She also appealed to the administration for adequate support and compensation for the bereaved family.

The encounter has once again drawn attention to the ongoing crackdown on wanted criminals in Uttar Pradesh, with police continuing their investigation into the case and the broader network of individuals linked to the crime.
