Gurugram Horror: Woman Found Murdered in PG, Colleague Found Dead on Railway Tracks; Police Suspect Murder-Suicide
A shocking sequence of events in Gurugram has led investigators to suspect a possible murder-suicide involving two young software engineers employed by the same multinational healthcare technology company.
The case surfaced after the body of a 25-year-old woman was recovered from a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Sector 55, while the body of her colleague was discovered on railway tracks near Garhi railway station, around 60 kilometres away.
The deceased woman has been identified as Insharah Ayyubi, a resident of Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh who worked as a software engineer with Optum.
Concerned after repeated attempts to contact her failed, her family lodged a missing person complaint at Sector 56 police station, prompting police to launch a search.
Investigators traced Ayyubi’s mobile phone to a PG accommodation in Sector 55.
The room was occupied by her colleague, Shresth Malik, an artificial intelligence engineer originally from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
Police later confirmed that the body recovered earlier from the railway tracks near Garhi station was that of Malik.
Residents of the PG told investigators that they had not noticed any disturbance before the incident.
When police forced open the locked room, they found Ayyubi lying in a pool of blood.
Preliminary forensic examination indicated that she had suffered multiple stab injuries and that her throat had been slit.
Investigators estimated that she had died nearly 24 hours before the body was discovered.
Police sources further said that Ayyubi had shifted her belongings into Malik’s room only three days before the incident.
As the investigation unfolded, officers linked the case to the unidentified railway death reported by the Government Railway Police on Saturday.
Malik was initially believed to have died in a train accident after his body was found on the tracks near Garhi station.
However, evidence gathered during the murder investigation has led police to suspect that he allegedly killed Ayyubi before taking his own life.
Police stressed that the investigation is still in progress.
Malik’s family, who had travelled from Chhattisgarh after being informed that he had died in a railway accident, received another shock upon reaching Gurugram.
While they were on their way to collect his belongings from the PG accommodation, officers from Sector 56 police station informed them about the developments linking his death to Ayyubi’s murder.
Police said Malik had graduated from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, last year.
Before joining Optum, he had completed an internship with Samsung.
According to investigators, he had visited his hometown in early June to celebrate his birthday, and last spoke to his mother on Wednesday.
Ayyubi had completed her Computer Science Engineering degree from Jamia Millia Islamia last year before beginning her professional career.
Investigators have so far not recovered any suicide note and say the motive behind the incident remains unclear.
Inspector Manoj Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 police station, said a murder case has been registered and both families will be questioned in detail as part of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the Government Railway Police and Gurugram Police are jointly examining CCTV footage, mobile phone records and other digital evidence to reconstruct the final movements of the two engineers.
Following the post-mortem examination, both bodies have been handed over to their respective families.
गुरुग्राम में सनसनी: पीजी में युवती की हत्या, रेलवे ट्रैक पर मिला सहकर्मी का शव; पुलिस को मर्डर-सुसाइड की आशंका
गुरुग्राम में दो युवा सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियरों की संदिग्ध मौत ने पुलिस को एक संभावित हत्या और आत्महत्या के मामले की ओर संकेत दिया है।
सेक्टर-55 स्थित एक पीजी आवास से 25 वर्षीय युवती का शव बरामद होने के कुछ ही समय बाद उसके सहकर्मी का शव करीब 60 किलोमीटर दूर गढ़ी रेलवे स्टेशन के निकट रेलवे ट्रैक पर मिला। दोनों एक ही बहुराष्ट्रीय हेल्थकेयर टेक्नोलॉजी कंपनी में कार्यरत थे।
मृतका की पहचान उत्तर प्रदेश के सीतापुर निवासी इंशराह अय्यूबी के रूप में हुई है, जो गुरुग्राम स्थित ऑप्टम में सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर थीं।
परिजनों द्वारा कई बार संपर्क करने के बावजूद उनका फोन नहीं उठने पर सेक्टर-56 थाना पुलिस में गुमशुदगी की शिकायत दर्ज कराई गई, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने उनकी तलाश शुरू की।
मोबाइल फोन की लोकेशन पुलिस को सेक्टर-55 स्थित एक पीजी तक ले गई।
यह कमरा उनके सहकर्मी श्रेष्ठ मलिक का था, जो छत्तीसगढ़ के भिलाई का रहने वाला और आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस इंजीनियर था। बाद में पुलिस ने पुष्टि की कि गढ़ी रेलवे स्टेशन के पास रेलवे ट्रैक से बरामद शव उसी का था।
स्थानीय लोगों ने पुलिस को बताया कि घटना से पहले उन्होंने किसी तरह की असामान्य आवाज या विवाद नहीं सुना। कमरे का दरवाजा अंदर से बंद मिला, जिसे पुलिस ने तोड़कर खोला। अंदर इंशराह अय्यूबी का शव खून से लथपथ पड़ा था।
प्रारंभिक फॉरेंसिक जांच में शरीर पर कई चाकू के घाव तथा गला काटे जाने के निशान मिले। पुलिस का अनुमान है कि उनकी मौत शव मिलने से लगभग 24 घंटे पहले हो चुकी थी।
जांच से जुड़े सूत्रों के अनुसार अय्यूबी ने घटना से मात्र तीन दिन पहले अपना सामान मलिक के कमरे में रखा था।
मामले की कड़ियां जोड़ने के दौरान गुरुग्राम पुलिस को पता चला कि शनिवार को सरकारी रेलवे पुलिस ने गढ़ी स्टेशन के पास रेलवे ट्रैक से एक युवक का शव बरामद किया था।
मोबाइल फोन और दस्तावेजों के आधार पर उसकी पहचान श्रेष्ठ मलिक के रूप में हुई।
शुरुआत में इसे रेल दुर्घटना माना गया था, लेकिन अय्यूबी की हत्या की जांच के दौरान मिले तथ्यों के आधार पर पुलिस को आशंका है कि मलिक ने कथित रूप से पहले उनकी हत्या की और उसके बाद स्वयं अपनी जान दे दी।
हालांकि पुलिस ने स्पष्ट किया है कि जांच अभी जारी है।
मलिक के परिजन छत्तीसगढ़ से गुरुग्राम इस सूचना पर पहुंचे थे कि उनकी मौत रेल हादसे में हुई है।
रविवार को जब वे उसका सामान लेने पीजी जा रहे थे, तभी सेक्टर-56 थाना पुलिस ने उन्हें रोककर जांच में सामने आए नए तथ्यों की जानकारी दी, जिससे परिवार स्तब्ध रह गया।
पुलिस के अनुसार श्रेष्ठ मलिक ने पिछले वर्ष राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (एनआईटी), रायपुर से स्नातक किया था। ऑप्टम में नियुक्ति से पहले उसने सैमसंग में इंटर्नशिप भी की थी।
बताया गया कि वह जून की शुरुआत में अपना जन्मदिन मनाने के लिए अपने गृह नगर गया था और बुधवार को आखिरी बार उसकी अपनी मां से बातचीत हुई थी।
दूसरी ओर इंशराह अय्यूबी ने पिछले वर्ष जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया से कंप्यूटर साइंस इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद नौकरी शुरू की थी।
जांच एजेंसियों को अब तक घटनास्थल से कोई सुसाइड नोट नहीं मिला है और हत्या के पीछे की वजह भी स्पष्ट नहीं हो सकी है।
सेक्टर-56 थाना प्रभारी निरीक्षक मनोज कुमार ने बताया कि हत्या का मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है तथा दोनों परिवारों से विस्तृत पूछताछ की जाएगी ताकि पूरे घटनाक्रम की पृष्ठभूमि स्पष्ट हो सके।
फिलहाल सरकारी रेलवे पुलिस और गुरुग्राम पुलिस समानांतर जांच कर रही हैं।
सीसीटीवी फुटेज, मोबाइल फोन रिकॉर्ड, डिजिटल गतिविधियों और अन्य तकनीकी साक्ष्यों का विश्लेषण कर दोनों इंजीनियरों के अंतिम घंटों की गतिविधियों को जोड़ने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।
पोस्टमार्टम के बाद दोनों शव उनके परिजनों को सौंप दिए गए हैं।
