Handia Double Death Mystery: Youth Found Hanging in Banpurwa, Family Alleges Murder Conspiracy Against MLA and Others
The body of a youth was found hanging in a secluded room without a door in Banpurwa Saraipeetha village under Handia police station.
The discovery has deepened the mystery surrounding the deaths of two brothers, as the victim’s younger brother had also been found hanging from a tree nearly 22 days earlier.
Following fresh allegations made by the bereaved family, police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against several people, including an MLA, and have formed a special team to arrest the accused.
The deceased has been identified as Sushil Kumar Gautam (32), a resident of Banpurwa Saraipeetha in Prayagraj.
According to the family, Sushil had dinner with his relatives on Thursday night before everyone went to sleep.
When family members woke up on Friday morning, they found his body hanging inside a doorless room located near the house. The body was later brought down in the presence of police and senior administrative officials.
As news of the incident spread, villagers gathered at the spot in large numbers. Police initially stopped family members from removing the body until senior officers reached the scene.
After officials completed the preliminary inspection, the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The second death in the same family within a month has left the entire village in shock.
The deceased’s younger brother, Sunil Kumar, submitted a written complaint to the District Magistrate alleging that an ongoing land dispute led to the deaths of both brothers.
In his complaint, he accused Handia MLA Hakim Lal Bind, Gaurav Maurya, Munni, Ameen, Niranjan, Samayman Yadav, Sewanand, Mani, and Udayan Maurya, along with others, of hatching a conspiracy behind the killings.
Acting on the complaint, the district administration directed the Handia police to register an FIR against the named individuals.
Police teams from several police stations and specialised units have been deployed to trace the accused.
The heavy police presence at the village continued for nearly three hours as officers managed the crowd and maintained law and order.
Senior officials assured the grieving family that a fair and impartial investigation would be carried out and that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible.
The tragedy has devastated the family. Sushil is survived by his mother, Lalti Devi, wife Shanti Devi, son Divyansh (10), daughters Shivani (8) and Karishma (4), and younger brother Santosh Kumar. Notably, Sunil’s body had also been found hanging from a tree on the fourth day after his wedding.
At that time, the family had similarly alleged murder and demanded action against those they held responsible.
The latest incident has once again intensified public anger and renewed demands for a thorough investigation.

हंडिया थाना क्षेत्र के बनपुरवा सरायपीठा गांव में बिना दरवाजे वाले एक एकांत कमरे में एक युवक का शव फंदे से लटका मिला।
इस घटना ने एक ही परिवार में हुई दो संदिग्ध मौतों को लेकर रहस्य और गहरा कर दिया है, क्योंकि मृतक के छोटे भाई का शव भी करीब 22 दिन पहले पेड़ से लटका मिला था।
परिजनों की ताजा शिकायत के आधार पर पुलिस ने विधायक सहित कई लोगों के खिलाफ हत्या और आपराधिक साजिश का मुकदमा दर्ज कर लिया है तथा आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी के लिए विशेष टीम का गठन किया गया है।
मृतक की पहचान सुशील कुमार गौतम (32) के रूप में हुई है, जो प्रयागराज के बनपुरवा सरायपीठा गांव का निवासी था। परिवार के अनुसार गुरुवार रात सुशील ने घर पर भोजन किया और सभी लोग सोने चले गए।
शुक्रवार सुबह जब परिजन जागे तो घर के पास स्थित बिना दरवाजे वाले कमरे में उसका शव फंदे से लटका मिला। सूचना मिलने पर पुलिस और प्रशासनिक अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंचे, जिसके बाद शव को नीचे उतारा गया।
घटना की खबर फैलते ही गांव में बड़ी संख्या में लोग एकत्र हो गए। पुलिस ने वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के पहुंचने तक परिजनों को शव नीचे उतारने से रोक दिया।
प्रारंभिक जांच पूरी होने के बाद शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिया गया। एक महीने के भीतर एक ही परिवार में हुई दूसरी संदिग्ध मौत से पूरे गांव में शोक और चिंता का माहौल है।
मृतक के छोटे भाई सुनील कुमार ने जिलाधिकारी को शिकायत पत्र देकर आरोप लगाया कि जमीन विवाद के कारण दोनों भाइयों की मौत हुई है।
शिकायत में उन्होंने हंडिया विधायक हाकिम लाल बिंद, गौरव मौर्य, मुन्नी, अमीन, निरंजन, समयमान यादव, सेवानंद, मणि और उदयन मौर्य सहित अन्य लोगों पर हत्या की साजिश रचने का आरोप लगाया।
शिकायत के बाद जिला प्रशासन के निर्देश पर हंडिया पुलिस ने नामजद व्यक्तियों के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज कर ली।
आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी के लिए कई थानों की पुलिस और विशेष टीमें सक्रिय कर दी गई हैं। गांव में कई घंटे तक पुलिस बल तैनात रहा ताकि स्थिति शांतिपूर्ण बनी रहे।
अधिकारियों ने पीड़ित परिवार को निष्पक्ष जांच का भरोसा देते हुए कहा कि साक्ष्यों के आधार पर दोषियों के विरुद्ध कड़ी कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
इस दोहरी त्रासदी ने परिवार को पूरी तरह झकझोर दिया है। सुशील अपने पीछे मां लालती देवी, पत्नी शांति देवी, पुत्र दिव्यांश (10), बेटियां शिवानी (8) और करिश्मा (4) तथा छोटे भाई संतोष कुमार को छोड़ गए हैं।
उल्लेखनीय है कि करीब 22 दिन पहले सुशील के छोटे भाई सुनील कुमार का शव भी विवाह के चौथे दिन एक पेड़ से लटका मिला था। उस समय भी परिवार ने हत्या का आरोप लगाते हुए दोषियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की थी।
अब दूसरी मौत के बाद मामले की निष्पक्ष और गहन जांच की मांग एक बार फिर तेज हो गई है।
