Iran Claims Capture of Unmanned US Submarine Near Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday claimed that its naval forces had seized an unmanned American submarine near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, adding a new dimension to the escalating confrontation in West Asia.
According to the Guards, the underwater US asset was intercepted at dawn following what it described as a complex intelligence and operational mission.
The claim was carried by Iranian state television, which quoted an IRGC statement describing the captured vehicle as an advanced unmanned submarine.
No immediate statement from the United States was available on the reported seizure.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged capture, including the precise location and condition of the vehicle, have not been independently established.
Iranian state-backed Press TV reported that the IRGC plans to publish images and extensive video of the alleged captured asset.
