Iran Puts $30,000 Price Tag on US Soldiers Amid Escalating West Asia Conflict
Army chief Amir Hatami announces a financial reward for capturing or killing American military personnel, with women promised twice the amount as Tehran-Washington tensions remain unresolved.
The Iran-US confrontation has taken another provocative turn, with Tehran announcing a financial reward for anyone who captures or kills an American military service member.
Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Amir Hatami announced on Sunday, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.
The reward has been set at five billion tomans, described as roughly equivalent to $30,000, for each US military personnel captured or killed and handed over to Iranian authorities.
Hatami said the initiative followed numerous requests from people seeking to contribute financially to Iran’s war effort.
He did not, however, identify a particular battlefield, military unit or planned operation to which the reward would apply.
The announcement contains a separate provision aimed specifically at Iranian women.
Hatami said a woman who carries out the capture and handover of an American military personnel would receive twice the announced reward.
The timing of the declaration is significant.
Tehran and Washington remain locked in an unsettled military confrontation that has continued despite earlier efforts to halt the fighting.
The two sides have exchanged attacks intermittently since the conflict began, with southern Iran and the area around the Strait of Hormuz among the principal flashpoints.
Yet the announcement raises an immediate question: where would such a bounty be acted upon?
There has been no known large-scale deployment of American ground troops inside Iran during the conflict.
The reported exception was a US rescue mission in April following the downing of an American pilot.
The Strait of Hormuz remains central to the wider crisis.
The narrow waterway is a crucial route for international energy shipments, and efforts to restore normal commercial traffic through it have remained entangled with attempts to reach a broader political settlement.
The conflict itself followed US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
Tehran responded with attacks against Israel and US military positions in neighbouring Arab countries, turning the confrontation into a wider regional crisis.
The fighting has also spilled into maritime security.
Iranian restrictions affecting commercial shipping through Hormuz, coupled with attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on commercial vessels along the Red Sea route, have created additional pressure on regional trade and navigation.
Attempts to bring the conflict to an end have so far failed to produce a durable settlement.
An April ceasefire followed weeks of fighting, while a framework for peace negotiations announced in June subsequently collapsed.
Since then, hostilities have remained intermittent rather than fully ending.
Against that backdrop, the Iranian army’s announcement represents a fresh escalation in rhetoric and adds an unusual financial dimension to the confrontation; whether the reward results in any attempted capture of American personnel remains unclear, particularly given the absence of a known US ground deployment inside Iran.
For now, the announcement underscores how far relations between Tehran and Washington have deteriorated.
At the same time, the unresolved status of the Strait of Hormuz continues to complicate prospects for a lasting regional de-escalation.

ईरानी घोषणा के बाद एक अहम सवाल यह भी उठ रहा है कि अमेरिकी सैनिकों को निशाना बनाने की ऐसी कार्रवाई व्यवहार में कहां हो सकती है।
उपलब्ध जानकारी के मुताबिक, युद्ध के दौरान ईरान के भीतर अमेरिकी जमीनी सैनिकों की किसी बड़े स्तर की तैनाती की जानकारी नहीं है।
अप्रैल में एक अमेरिकी पायलट के विमान से गिराए जाने के बाद उसके बचाव के लिए अभियान चलाए जाने की बात सामने आई थी।
इस पूरे संकट में होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य बेहद महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहा है। यह समुद्री मार्ग अंतरराष्ट्रीय ऊर्जा आपूर्ति के लिए प्रमुख रास्तों में शामिल है।
यहां वाणिज्यिक जहाजों की सामान्य आवाजाही बहाल करना व्यापक राजनीतिक समाधान की दिशा में सबसे कठिन मुद्दों में से एक बना हुआ है।
ईरान और अमेरिका के बीच मौजूदा युद्ध 28 फरवरी को अमेरिका और इजरायल द्वारा ईरान पर हमले के बाद शुरू हुआ था।
