KGMU Nursing Official Allegedly Killed Over Rs 60 Lakh Property Money in Lucknow

Lucknow: A property purchase plan allegedly turned into a deadly ransom plot in Uttar Pradesh after a 45-year-old nursing official at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) was allegedly abducted and killed along with a friend when the kidnappers failed to extract the money they were seeking, police said.

Lucknow police have arrested five men in connection with the case and launched an operation to locate the bodies, which investigators believe were thrown into the Ghaghra River in neighbouring Sitapur district.

The deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar Garg, a Lucknow resident originally from Karauli in Rajasthan, and his 26-year-old friend Sachin Vishwakarma.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Nitin Mishra, 38; Avnish Kumar Maurya, 38; Prakash Singh, 24; Suraj Singh, 24; and Mohit Singh, 26.

Investigators said the men survived on various odd jobs. Nitin and Suraj had previously faced one criminal case each, while Prakash had two cases registered against him, according to police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Kumar Anand said the arrested suspects had confessed during questioning. The allegations, however, remain subject to the judicial process.

Missing report sets investigation in motion.

The case surfaced after Pawan went missing from Lucknow. His nephew, Sanjay Garg, approached police on September 29 and reported that Pawan had driven away from his home at about 8 pm on September 27 and failed to return.

A breakthrough came the following day when investigators located Pawan’s car in Sitapur.

Police then began piecing together the vehicle’s movements using surveillance footage, toll-plaza information and other technical evidence.

Investigators noticed Pawan’s vehicle travelling alongside another car, which eventually gave them a lead towards the suspected kidnappers.

According to SHO Shivanand Mishra of Madiyaon police station, examination of the second vehicle’s registration details helped investigators identify the people travelling in it.

Police allege that all five arrested suspects were inside that vehicle.

A kidnapping case was subsequently registered, and the five suspects were taken into custody from Bhithauli crossing on October 2.

A property deal allegedly became the motive.

Investigators say the alleged conspiracy began after Pawan discussed a proposed property purchase with Nitin Mishra, who was known to him and was involved in the property business.

Police allege that Pawan had told Nitin that he had approximately Rs 60 lakh available and wanted to buy land. He subsequently asked Nitin to help him locate a suitable property.

Investigators believe the information about Pawan’s finances led the accused to allegedly devise a plan to abduct him and demand money from him.

On September 27, according to the police account, Nitin contacted Pawan and summoned him to an area under Madiyaon police station. Pawan arrived with Sachin Vishwakarma.

The two were allegedly persuaded to accompany Nitin and his associates to New Fauji Dhaba in the Itaunja area.

Police said the group ate and consumed alcohol there before an argument reportedly broke out between Pawan and Nitin.

The situation allegedly escalated after the group left the eatery.

Police allege that Pawan and Sachin were forcibly taken to a house under construction in Itaunja belonging to Nitin. Investigators said the two men were confined separately while the accused demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom.

Ransom demand allegedly ends in double murder

While the two men were allegedly being held captive, Nitin reportedly drove Pawan’s car to a dhaba in Sitapur and left it there before returning to the others, police said.

Investigators allege that the captors subsequently assaulted both men and renewed the demand for Rs 50 lakh. Pawan allegedly refused to pay, telling them he did not have the money.

The police version states that the accused then feared the consequences of releasing the two men.

On September 28, they allegedly decided to kill them rather than risk their identities and the kidnapping becoming known to police.

Investigators allege that the two men were strangled with ropes.

Later that evening, the accused allegedly transported the bodies to Chalhari Ghat in Sitapur and threw them from a bridge into the Ghaghra River.

Police have not yet recovered the bodies and are continuing searches in the river and surrounding area.

Evidence recovered

Investigators said they have recovered several belongings allegedly linked to Pawan, including his chain, ring, driving licence, a photocopy of his Aadhaar card and a bank statement.

Two vehicles that police believe were used during the alleged crime have also been seized.

The recovery of the bodies remains a key part of the investigation as police work to establish the full sequence of events and corroborate the allegations against the arrested suspects.

For now, the case centres on police allegations that information about Pawan’s proposed Rs 60 lakh property purchase was used to target him for ransom, with the situation allegedly culminating in the deaths of both men.

पुलिस के अनुसार, किंग जॉर्ज मेडिकल यूनिवर्सिटी (KGMU) में असिस्टेंट नर्सिंग सुपरिंटेंडेंट पवन कुमार गर्ग और उनके दोस्त सचिन विश्वकर्मा का कथित तौर पर फिरौती के लिए अपहरण किया गया और रकम नहीं मिलने पर दोनों की हत्या कर दी गई।

पुलिस ने इस मामले में पांच लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। जांच एजेंसी का कहना है कि दोनों शवों को सीतापुर जिले में घाघरा नदी में फेंक दिया गया। शवों की तलाश के लिए अभियान जारी है।

मृतकों की पहचान लखनऊ निवासी पवन कुमार गर्ग के रूप में हुई है, जो मूल रूप से राजस्थान के करौली के रहने वाले थे। उनके साथ मारे गए युवक की पहचान 26 वर्षीय सचिन विश्वकर्मा के रूप में हुई है।

गिरफ्तार आरोपियों में लखनऊ निवासी नितिन मिश्रा (38), अवनीश कुमार मौर्य (38), प्रकाश सिंह (24), सूरज सिंह (24) और मोहित सिंह (26) शामिल हैं। पुलिस के मुताबिक, आरोपी अलग-अलग तरह के छोटे-मोटे काम करते थे।

नितिन और सूरज के खिलाफ पहले एक-एक आपराधिक मामला दर्ज था, जबकि प्रकाश के खिलाफ दो मामले दर्ज होने की जानकारी पुलिस ने दी है।

पुलिस उपायुक्त अमित कुमार आनंद के अनुसार, पूछताछ के दौरान आरोपियों ने अपराध में अपनी भूमिका स्वीकार की है। पुलिस के आरोप और कथित कबूलनामे की अंतिम पुष्टि न्यायिक प्रक्रिया में होनी बाकी है।

कार ने खोला जांच का रास्ता

पवन के अचानक लापता होने के बाद मामले की शुरुआत हुई। उनके भतीजे संजय गर्ग ने 29 सितंबर को पुलिस को बताया कि पवन 27 सितंबर की रात करीब आठ बजे अपनी कार से घर से निकले थे, लेकिन वापस नहीं लौटे।

अगले दिन पुलिस को उनकी कार सीतापुर में मिल गई। इसके बाद जांचकर्ताओं ने कार के आवागमन का पता लगाने के लिए सीसीटीवी कैमरों की रिकॉर्डिंग और टोल प्लाजा से संबंधित जानकारी खंगालनी शुरू की।

जांच के दौरान पुलिस को पवन की कार के साथ चल रही एक दूसरी गाड़ी दिखाई दी। उस वाहन के पंजीकरण संबंधी विवरण की पड़ताल से उसमें सवार लोगों तक पहुंचने में मदद मिली।

मड़ियांव थाना प्रभारी शिवानंद मिश्रा के अनुसार, पुलिस को पता चला कि गिरफ्तार किए गए पांचों आरोपी उसी वाहन में मौजूद थे। इसके बाद मामले में अपहरण की धाराएं जोड़ी गईं और पुलिस ने संदिग्धों की तलाश तेज कर दी।

पांचों को 2 अक्टूबर को भिठौली चौराहे के पास से गिरफ्तार किया गया।

संपत्ति खरीद की बातचीत पर पुलिस का शक

जांच में पुलिस को पता चला कि पवन की जान-पहचान नितिन मिश्रा से थी। पुलिस के मुताबिक, नितिन संपत्ति से जुड़े कारोबार में था।

जांचकर्ताओं का दावा है कि पवन ने नितिन को बताया था कि उनके पास करीब 60 लाख रुपये हैं और वह जमीन खरीदना चाहते हैं। उन्होंने नितिन से अपने लिए उपयुक्त संपत्ति तलाशने में मदद करने को कहा था।

पुलिस का आरोप है कि पवन की आर्थिक क्षमता की जानकारी मिलने के बाद नितिन और उसके साथियों ने उन्हें निशाना बनाने की योजना बनाई। कथित योजना के तहत पवन का अपहरण कर बड़ी रकम फिरौती के रूप में मांगने का फैसला किया गया।

27 सितंबर को नितिन ने कथित तौर पर पवन को मड़ियांव इलाके में बुलाया। पवन अपने दोस्त सचिन के साथ वहां पहुंचे। इसके बाद दोनों को लखनऊ के इटौंजा क्षेत्र स्थित न्यू फौजी ढाबे पर चलने के लिए कहा गया।

पुलिस के अनुसार, नितिन और उसके साथी भी वहां पहुंचे। खाना खाने और शराब पीने के दौरान पवन और नितिन के बीच विवाद हो गया। इसके बाद घटनाक्रम ने कथित तौर पर हिंसक रूप ले लिया।

पुलिस का कहना है कि आरोपियों ने दोनों दोस्तों को जबरन एक वाहन में बैठाया और इटौंजा में नितिन के निर्माणाधीन मकान में ले गए। वहां दोनों को अलग-अलग कमरों में कथित तौर पर बंधक बनाकर रखा गया।

50 लाख की फिरौती और फिर कथित हत्या

जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, बंधक बनाए जाने के बाद पवन से 50 लाख रुपये की फिरौती मांगी गई। इसी बीच नितिन कथित तौर पर पवन की कार लेकर सीतापुर पहुंचा और उसे एक ढाबे के पास खड़ा कर वापस लौट आया।

पुलिस का दावा है कि आरोपियों ने दोनों युवकों के साथ मारपीट की और फिरौती की मांग दोहराई। पवन ने कथित तौर पर रकम देने से इनकार कर दिया और कहा कि उनके पास पैसे नहीं हैं।

पुलिस के अनुसार, जब आरोपियों को लगा कि पवन से रकम हासिल नहीं हो पाएगी, तो उन्हें डर हुआ कि दोनों को छोड़ने पर पूरी घटना पुलिस तक पहुंच जाएगी।

जांच एजेंसी का आरोप है कि 28 सितंबर को इसी आशंका के चलते दोनों की हत्या करने का फैसला किया गया। पुलिस के मुताबिक, दोनों को रस्सी से गला घोंटकर मार दिया गया।

इसके बाद उसी शाम शवों को सीतापुर के चलहारी घाट ले जाया गया और एक पुल से घाघरा नदी में कथित तौर पर फेंक दिया गया।

पुलिस फिलहाल नदी में दोनों शवों की तलाश कर रही है। शवों की बरामदगी जांच का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा मानी जा रही है।

सामान और वाहन बरामद

जांचकर्ताओं के मुताबिक, पवन से संबंधित कुछ सामान भी बरामद किए गए हैं। इनमें उनकी चेन, अंगूठी, ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस, आधार कार्ड की फोटो कॉपी और बैंक स्टेटमेंट शामिल हैं।

पुलिस ने उन दो कारों को भी जब्त किया है, जिनका इस्तेमाल कथित तौर पर वारदात में किया गया था।

पुलिस अब बरामद साक्ष्यों, वाहनों, सीसीटीवी फुटेज और अन्य जांच सामग्री के आधार पर घटनाक्रम की कड़ियां जोड़ने में जुटी है।

दोनों शवों की तलाश के साथ-साथ यह भी जांचा जा रहा है कि कथित अपहरण और हत्या की पूरी योजना किस तरह बनाई गई और इसमें गिरफ्तार लोगों की क्या-क्या भूमिका थी।
