Lakhimpur Kheri Accident: Three Dead After Car Bursts Into Flames Following Transformer Collision
Six men were travelling towards Sitapur when their vehicle left the road near Oel in the early hours of Monday; three survivors remain critically injured
Lakhimpur Kheri (UP): A late-night journey towards Sitapur ended in tragedy near Oel in Lakhimpur Kheri district after a car plunged into a field and struck an electricity transformer, leaving three occupants dead.
Three others were critically injured, police said.
The crash happened at approximately 2:30 am in the Kheri police station area, around eight kilometres from the district headquarters.
The force of the impact was reportedly so severe that people living nearby heard what they described as a blast-like sound.
The vehicle was carrying six people when it veered away from the road near Oel.
After crossing the footpath, it entered a field before hitting the transformer positioned there.
The collision subsequently brought down electrical wires onto the car.
The fallen wires triggered sparks and the vehicle caught fire, trapping the occupants inside.
By the time the blaze was brought under control, a substantial part of the car had been destroyed.
Ayush Kumar of Shiv Colony was unable to escape and died at the scene. Police said his body was recovered from the driver’s seat area.
Five others managed to get out despite suffering severe burns.
They were later found on the roadside in distress and were taken to a hospital. However, the injuries proved fatal for two of them during treatment.
One of those who died in hospital was identified as Akash Verma, a resident of Pipariya Bypass.
Officials are still working to establish the identity of the third deceased person.
The three people who survived have been identified as Piyush Singh, Aman Verma and another occupant whose identity is yet to be conclusively confirmed.
All three are undergoing treatment for critical injuries.
Investigators have not yet determined why the car went out of control.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the crash would become clear after the investigation is completed.
The remains of the three deceased were sent for post-mortem examination. Police teams also reached the spot, arranged medical assistance and began the required legal procedures.
In a statement posted on X, Lakhimpur Kheri Police said officers responded promptly, transported the injured to hospital and initiated post-mortem procedures for the deceased.
Further legal action is being carried out, while the situation concerning law and order remains under control.

ओयल के निकट वाहन सड़क से हटकर खेत में जा घुसा और वहां लगे बिजली के ट्रांसफॉर्मर से टकरा गया।
हादसे के बाद कार में आग लग गई, जिसमें छह सवारों में से तीन की मौत हो गई और तीन अन्य गंभीर रूप से घायल हैं।
दुर्घटना खीरी थाना क्षेत्र में करीब 2:30 बजे हुई। घटनास्थल जिला मुख्यालय से लगभग आठ किलोमीटर दूर बताया गया है।
टक्कर की तीव्रता का अंदाजा इसी से लगाया जा सकता है कि आसपास के लोगों ने इसकी आवाज को विस्फोट जैसी बताया।
पुलिस के अनुसार कार सवार सितापुर की तरफ बढ़ रहे थे। ओयल के पास किसी कारण से वाहन का संतुलन बिगड़ गया और वह फुटपाथ पार करने के बाद खेत में जा पहुंचा।
कुछ ही क्षण बाद कार वहां मौजूद ट्रांसफॉर्मर से भिड़ गई।
टक्कर के दौरान बिजली के तार टूटकर वाहन पर आ गिरे।
इससे चिंगारियां उठीं और कार आग की चपेट में आ गई।
अंदर मौजूद लोगों के लिए तत्काल बाहर निकलना संभव नहीं था। बचाव दल द्वारा आग बुझाए जाने तक कार का काफी हिस्सा जल चुका था।
शिव कॉलोनी के रहने वाले आयुष कुमार इस हादसे में मौके पर ही जान गंवा बैठे। पुलिस के मुताबिक उनका शव चालक की सीट पर फंसा मिला।
कार में मौजूद पांच अन्य लोगों ने गंभीर रूप से झुलसने के बावजूद किसी तरह बाहर निकलने में कामयाबी हासिल की।
घायल अवस्था में वे सड़क किनारे पड़े मिले, जिसके बाद उन्हें उपचार के लिए अस्पताल ले जाया गया। इलाज के दौरान दो और घायलों की मौत हो गई।
मृतकों में पिपरिया बाईपास निवासी आकाश वर्मा की पहचान कर ली गई है। तीसरे मृतक के बारे में अभी पुलिस जानकारी जुटा रही है और पहचान की पुष्टि की जा रही है।
अस्पताल में भर्ती तीन घायलों की पहचान पीयूष सिंह, अमन वर्मा और एक अन्य सवार के रूप में हुई है।
तीसरे घायल की पहचान अभी अंतिम रूप से स्थापित नहीं हुई है। तीनों की हालत गंभीर बताई जा रही है।
पुलिस अधिकारियों के मुताबिक फिलहाल हादसे के पीछे की सटीक वजह सामने नहीं आई है। वाहन किस वजह से नियंत्रण से बाहर हुआ, इसका पता जांच के बाद ही चल सकेगा।
पुलिस ने तीनों मृतकों के शव पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिए हैं। हादसे की सूचना मिलने के बाद पुलिसकर्मी घटनास्थल पर पहुंचे और घायलों को अस्पताल भिजवाने के साथ आवश्यक कार्रवाई शुरू की।
लखीमपुर खीरी पुलिस ने X पर जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि मौके पर तत्काल पुलिस बल भेजा गया था। घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया और मृतकों के शव पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेजे गए।
मामले में आगे की कानूनी प्रक्रिया जारी है और क्षेत्र में कानून-व्यवस्था की स्थिति सामान्य है।
