Congress Raises Questions Over Land Transactions Linked to Chief Minister’s Family
The Congress on Monday launched a sharp political offensive against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, citing findings from an investigation concerning land purchases linked to his family members and associated real-estate firms.
The Opposition party demanded answers from the Chief Minister and questioned whether there could be a conflict between the exercise of public office and private land acquisitions.
Addressing a press conference, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari alleged that the BJP government in the state had become synonymous with corruption and claimed that the rapid expansion of landholdings connected to the Chief Minister’s family had raised serious concerns that warranted public clarification.
Congress Levels Fresh Allegations Against BJP
During the press conference, Patwari accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being embroiled in multiple controversies and alleged that several issues concerning public resources and assets had surfaced under its governance.
“The BJP is already facing allegations in matters related to the alleged misappropriation of Ram Temple donations and the controversy surrounding Mahakal land.
These developments have raised serious questions about transparency and accountability,” Patwari alleged.
Questions Raised Over Expansion of Land Holdings
Referring to the investigation, the Congress leader claimed that landholdings linked to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family had expanded considerably in the years immediately preceding and following his rise to the state’s top executive office.
Patwari pointed out that Mohan Yadav assumed office as Chief Minister on December 13, 2023.
According to him, between 2021 and 2023, close relatives of the Chief Minister’s family allegedly came into possession of nearly 253 acres of land spread across around 194 separate plots.
“This means there was a massive increase in land ownership during the period leading up to his elevation as Chief Minister. The question that naturally arises is how these acquisitions happened and under what circumstances,” Patwari said.
Claim of Extensive Land Ownership
Patwari further alleged that records indicate significantly larger holdings associated with the family and its relatives.
“According to the overall land ownership data, the Chief Minister’s family and relatives collectively possess around 335 acres of land distributed across approximately 245 plots,” he claimed.
The Congress leader said the figures had raised concerns regarding the timing, location and pattern of the transactions.
Purchases Near Proposed Development Corridors
According to the statement presented by the Congress, one of the most striking aspects of the alleged land acquisitions is the geographical location of many of the plots.
The party claimed that a substantial number of these properties are situated close to newly proposed road infrastructure projects in and around Ujjain.
It also alleged that many of the plots fall within areas earmarked for land-use conversion under the proposed Ujjain Master Plan 2035, where agricultural land could potentially be transformed into residential or commercial zones.
According to Congress leaders, these factors merit a closer examination by independent authorities.
Demand for Public Clarification and Independent Inquiry
Patwari urged Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to publicly explain the transactions and submit the matter to an independent and impartial investigation.
“In Madhya Pradesh, the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party has increasingly become associated with allegations of corruption.
In view of such serious accusations and the information that has emerged before the people of the state, an important question arises: can the Chief Minister continue in office without offering a satisfactory explanation?” he asked.
Leader of Opposition Calls It a Major Land Controversy
Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar described the matter as one of the most significant alleged land controversies to emerge in Madhya Pradesh in recent years.
He claimed that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his family had acquired approximately 335 acres of land spread across 245 plots in and around Ujjain.
According to him, many of these purchases were allegedly linked to areas where major infrastructure projects and future development corridors had been planned.
Allegations of Prior Knowledge of Infrastructure Projects
Singhar further alleged that Mohan Yadav was aware of proposed road alignments and major development projects during his tenure as Chairman of the Ujjain Development Authority and later while serving as the state’s Higher Education Minister between 2021 and 2023.
According to the Opposition leader, questions arise over whether knowledge of future developmental projects may have influenced the pattern of land acquisitions.
‘Insider Trading and Misuse of Office’: Congress
Calling the alleged transactions a case of “insider trading, abuse of official position and corruption”, Singhar said the controversy was not merely about development projects but about the alleged use of authority for private gain.
“This is not development. It is an open game played under the cover of political power. If any moral responsibility remains, the Chief Minister should step down immediately,” he said.
He further asserted that the people of Madhya Pradesh would not accept any alleged misuse of authority and state machinery for the benefit of a single family.
Government Officials Reject the Allegations
Neither Chief Minister Mohan Yadav nor his office issued any formal response to the detailed questionnaire reportedly sent regarding the findings of the investigation.
However, state government officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, rejected attempts to link the land purchases made by the Chief Minister’s family members with his political rise.
One senior official stated that members of the Chief Minister’s extended family had been associated with the real-estate business for a considerable period and argued that it would not be appropriate to draw direct connections between their business activities and Mohan Yadav’s political career.
The official maintained that the existence of family business interests and the Chief Minister’s rise in public life should not automatically be viewed as interconnected developments.

मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार से जुड़ी भूमि खरीद पर कांग्रेस के सवाल
मध्य प्रदेश में सोमवार को कांग्रेस ने मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव और उनके परिवार से जुड़ी कथित भूमि खरीद को लेकर भारतीय जनता पार्टी सरकार पर तीखा हमला बोला। एक जांच रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुए विपक्षी दल ने आरोप लगाया कि मुख्यमंत्री के परिजनों और उनसे जुड़े रियल एस्टेट कारोबार से संबंधित भूमि सौदों ने सार्वजनिक पद और निजी व्यावसायिक हितों के बीच संभावित टकराव को लेकर गंभीर प्रश्न खड़े कर दिए हैं।
प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष जीतू पटवारी ने एक प्रेस वार्ता को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि राज्य की भाजपा सरकार भ्रष्टाचार के पर्याय के रूप में स्थापित होती जा रही है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार से जुड़ी भूमि संपत्तियों में जिस तेजी से वृद्धि हुई है, वह कई महत्वपूर्ण सवाल पैदा करती है और इसकी सार्वजनिक रूप से स्पष्ट व्याख्या की जानी चाहिए।
भाजपा पर लगाए नए आरोप
प्रेस वार्ता के दौरान पटवारी ने दावा किया कि भाजपा सरकार के कार्यकाल में सार्वजनिक संसाधनों और संपत्तियों से जुड़े अनेक विवाद सामने आए हैं।
उन्होंने आरोप लगाया, “भाजपा पहले ही राम मंदिर के चढ़ावे में कथित अनियमितताओं और महाकाल भूमि विवाद जैसे मामलों को लेकर सवालों के घेरे में है। इन घटनाओं ने शासन की पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही पर गंभीर प्रश्नचिह्न खड़े किए हैं।”
भूमि स्वामित्व में तेजी से वृद्धि पर उठाए सवाल
जांच रिपोर्ट का उल्लेख करते हुए कांग्रेस नेता ने दावा किया कि मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव के परिवार से जुड़े भूमि स्वामित्व में उनके मुख्यमंत्री बनने से पहले और उसके बाद उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हुई।
उन्होंने कहा कि 13 दिसंबर 2023 को मोहन यादव ने मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली। उनके अनुसार, वर्ष 2021 से 2023 के बीच मुख्यमंत्री के निकट संबंधियों ने कथित रूप से लगभग 194 अलग-अलग भूखंडों में फैली करीब 253 एकड़ भूमि अर्जित की।
पटवारी ने कहा, “इस अवधि में भूमि स्वामित्व में असाधारण वृद्धि हुई। स्वाभाविक रूप से यह प्रश्न उठता है कि इतनी बड़ी मात्रा में भूमि का अधिग्रहण किन परिस्थितियों में हुआ और इसके पीछे क्या कारण रहे।”
कुल भूमि स्वामित्व को लेकर भी दावा
कांग्रेस प्रदेश अध्यक्ष ने आगे दावा किया कि उपलब्ध आंकड़ों के अनुसार मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार और रिश्तेदारों के पास इससे भी अधिक भूमि होने की जानकारी सामने आती है।
उन्होंने कहा, “कुल भूमि स्वामित्व से संबंधित उपलब्ध सूचनाओं के अनुसार परिवार और रिश्तेदारों के पास लगभग 245 भूखंडों में फैली करीब 335 एकड़ भूमि है।”
उन्होंने कहा कि इन आंकड़ों ने भूमि खरीद के समय, स्थान और स्वरूप को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं।
प्रस्तावित विकास परियोजनाओं के आसपास खरीदी गई जमीन का आरोप
कांग्रेस की ओर से प्रस्तुत विवरण के अनुसार, कथित भूमि खरीद का सबसे उल्लेखनीय पहलू इन भूखंडों की भौगोलिक स्थिति है।
पार्टी ने आरोप लगाया कि इनमें से अधिकांश भूखंड उज्जैन और उसके आसपास प्रस्तावित नई सड़क परियोजनाओं के निकट स्थित हैं। इसके अलावा कई जमीनें उज्जैन मास्टर प्लान-2035 के उन क्षेत्रों में आती हैं, जहां कृषि भूमि को भविष्य में आवासीय अथवा व्यावसायिक उपयोग के लिए परिवर्तित किए जाने की संभावना है।
कांग्रेस नेताओं का कहना है कि इन परिस्थितियों की निष्पक्ष और स्वतंत्र जांच कराई जानी चाहिए।
सार्वजनिक स्पष्टीकरण और स्वतंत्र जांच की मांग
जीतू पटवारी ने मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव से इन भूमि सौदों को लेकर सार्वजनिक रूप से स्थिति स्पष्ट करने और पूरे मामले की स्वतंत्र तथा निष्पक्ष जांच कराने की मांग की।
उन्होंने कहा, “मध्य प्रदेश में भारतीय जनता पार्टी का शासन लगातार भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों से जुड़ता दिखाई दे रहा है। जब राज्य की जनता के सामने इतने गंभीर आरोप और सूचनाएं मौजूद हैं, तो यह महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न उठता है कि क्या मुख्यमंत्री बिना संतोषजनक स्पष्टीकरण दिए अपने पद पर बने रह सकते हैं?”
नेता प्रतिपक्ष ने बताया हाल के वर्षों का बड़ा भूमि विवाद
विधानसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष उमंग सिंघार ने इस प्रकरण को हाल के वर्षों में मध्य प्रदेश में सामने आए सबसे गंभीर कथित भूमि विवादों में से एक बताया।
उन्होंने दावा किया कि मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव और उनके परिवार ने उज्जैन और उसके आसपास लगभग 245 भूखंडों में फैली करीब 335 एकड़ भूमि अर्जित की है। उनके अनुसार, इनमें से कई भूखंड ऐसे इलाकों में स्थित हैं, जहां भविष्य की बड़ी आधारभूत संरचना परियोजनाओं और विकास गलियारों की योजना बनाई गई है।
पूर्व जानकारी के आधार पर खरीद का आरोप
सिंघार ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि वर्ष 2021 से 2023 के बीच उज्जैन विकास प्राधिकरण के अध्यक्ष और बाद में उच्च शिक्षा मंत्री के रूप में कार्य करते हुए मोहन यादव प्रस्तावित सड़कों और बड़ी विकास परियोजनाओं की योजनाओं से परिचित थे।
उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसे में यह सवाल उठना स्वाभाविक है कि क्या भविष्य की परियोजनाओं की जानकारी ने भूमि खरीद के पैटर्न को प्रभावित किया।
‘इनसाइडर ट्रेडिंग और पद के दुरुपयोग’ का आरोप
इन कथित लेन-देन को “इनसाइडर ट्रेडिंग, पद के दुरुपयोग और भ्रष्टाचार” का मामला बताते हुए उमंग सिंघार ने कहा कि यह केवल विकास परियोजनाओं का प्रश्न नहीं, बल्कि सत्ता के कथित निजी उपयोग का मामला है।
उन्होंने कहा, “यह विकास नहीं है, बल्कि राजनीतिक शक्ति की आड़ में खेला गया एक खुला खेल है। यदि नैतिकता का कोई स्थान बचा है, तो मुख्यमंत्री को तत्काल अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे देना चाहिए।”
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मध्य प्रदेश की जनता किसी एक परिवार के लाभ के लिए सरकारी तंत्र और अधिकारों के कथित दुरुपयोग को स्वीकार नहीं करेगी।
सरकार ने आरोपों को खारिज किया
मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव या उनके कार्यालय की ओर से जांच से जुड़े प्रश्नों पर कोई औपचारिक प्रतिक्रिया सामने नहीं आई।
हालांकि, राज्य सरकार के कुछ अधिकारियों ने नाम उजागर न करने की शर्त पर इन आरोपों को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार द्वारा की गई भूमि खरीद को उनकी राजनीतिक उन्नति से जोड़ना उचित नहीं है।
एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री के विस्तारित परिवार के सदस्य लंबे समय से रियल एस्टेट व्यवसाय से जुड़े रहे हैं और उनके व्यावसायिक लेन-देन को सीधे मुख्यमंत्री के राजनीतिक जीवन से जोड़कर देखना उचित नहीं होगा।
अधिकारी का कहना था कि पारिवारिक व्यवसाय और किसी व्यक्ति की राजनीतिक उन्नति को स्वतः एक-दूसरे से जुड़ा हुआ मान लेना सही निष्कर्ष नहीं माना जा सकता।
