Mayawati Calls for Peaceful Resolution to Paper Leak Protests, Warns Against Political Exploitation of Students’ Agitation
Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Thursday broke her silence on the nationwide agitation over examination paper leaks, expressing concern over the growing political dimension of the movement.
She urged both the government and constitutional institutions to intervene constructively and work towards an early, peaceful settlement of the crisis.
Expressing apprehension over the widening protests spearheaded by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister observed that the demonstrations were increasingly disrupting everyday life in the national capital as well as several other parts of the country.
She stressed that prolonged unrest was causing inconvenience to the public and required immediate attention.
Sharing her views through a post in Hindi on social media platform X, Mayawati said the controversy had now moved beyond students’ grievances and evolved into a direct political confrontation with the government.
According to her, the prevailing atmosphere had become a matter of national concern, making it imperative to restore normalcy before the situation worsened further.
Without referring to any political organisation by name, the BSP leader criticised attempts by different parties to derive political mileage from the expanding student movement.
She remarked that using the agitation for narrow political interests had intensified tensions and resulted in confrontations extending from public streets to the precincts of Parliament.
Appealing for restraint from all sides, Mayawati said the authorities and those leading the protests should engage in dialogue and arrive at a mutually acceptable solution without delay.
She maintained that only a peaceful approach could prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
Drawing attention to the indefinite protest at Jantar Mantar, she noted that the agitation had emerged from the deep anguish of students and their families over repeated examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET.
\The issue, she observed, had triggered widespread public outrage and dominated discussions from the streets to Parliament.
Linking the controversy with broader governance concerns, the BSP chief remarked that allegations relating to the theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple and recurring paper leak incidents pointed towards the deeper problem of corruption permeating different levels of the system.
Mayawati further argued that the crisis reflected a decline in constitutional morality, a principle that she said Dr B.R. Ambedkar had regarded as essential for ensuring transparent and accountable governance.
She cautioned that the erosion of these constitutional values was gradually weakening the nation’s institutional framework.
Concluding her statement, the BSP supremo urged the government and constitutional bodies, including the judiciary, to discharge their respective responsibilities proactively.
She said coordinated efforts by all constitutional institutions would help resolve the present crisis in the larger interest of the nation and its citizens.

लखनऊ: बहुजन समाज पार्टी (बसपा) प्रमुख मायावती ने गुरुवार को देशभर में परीक्षा प्रश्नपत्र लीक को लेकर चल रहे आंदोलन पर पहली बार प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए इसके बढ़ते राजनीतिक स्वरूप पर चिंता व्यक्त की।
उन्होंने सरकार और संवैधानिक संस्थाओं से आगे आकर इस संकट का शीघ्र, शांतिपूर्ण और संतुलित समाधान निकालने की अपील की।
कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी (सीजेपी) के नेतृत्व में जारी आंदोलन का उल्लेख करते हुए पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि लगातार चल रहे प्रदर्शनों का असर केवल दिल्ली तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि कई राज्यों में भी सामान्य जनजीवन प्रभावित हो रहा है।
उन्होंने कहा कि लंबे समय तक जारी अशांति आम लोगों के लिए कठिनाइयाँ पैदा कर रही है और इस स्थिति का जल्द समाधान आवश्यक है।
सोशल मीडिया मंच ‘एक्स’ पर हिंदी में साझा किए गए अपने संदेश में मायावती ने कहा कि छात्रों से जुड़ा यह मुद्दा अब पूरी तरह राजनीतिक रंग ले चुका है और सरकार के साथ सीधी टकराव की स्थिति बन गई है।
उन्होंने कहा कि देशहित में मौजूदा हालात को सामान्य बनाना समय की सबसे बड़ी आवश्यकता है।
किसी भी दल का नाम लिए बिना बसपा अध्यक्ष ने विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों पर छात्र आंदोलन का अपने सीमित राजनीतिक हितों के लिए इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया।
उनके अनुसार, इस प्रवृत्ति ने तनाव को बढ़ाया है और विरोध का स्वरूप सड़कों से लेकर संसद तक टकराव और हिंसा में बदलता दिखाई दे रहा है।
उन्होंने सरकार और आंदोलन का नेतृत्व कर रहे पक्षों से संयम बरतने की अपील करते हुए कहा कि संवाद के माध्यम से शीघ्र ऐसा रास्ता निकाला जाना चाहिए जो सभी पक्षों के लिए स्वीकार्य हो।
उनका मानना था कि केवल शांतिपूर्ण समाधान ही वर्तमान परिस्थितियों को और गंभीर होने से रोक सकता है।
जंतर-मंतर पर चल रहे अनिश्चितकालीन धरने का जिक्र करते हुए मायावती ने कहा कि यह आंदोलन परीक्षा प्रश्नपत्र लीक तथा नीट सहित महत्वपूर्ण प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं में कथित अनियमितताओं से प्रभावित छात्रों और उनके परिवारों की पीड़ा का परिणाम है।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस मुद्दे ने पूरे देश में व्यापक जनाक्रोश पैदा कर दिया है और इसकी गूंज सड़कों से लेकर संसद तक सुनाई दे रही है।
बसपा प्रमुख ने इस विवाद को व्यापक प्रशासनिक चुनौतियों से जोड़ते हुए कहा कि चाहे अयोध्या राम मंदिर में चढ़ावे की कथित चोरी का मामला हो या बार-बार सामने आने वाले पेपर लीक के प्रकरण, इन सभी की जड़ में व्यवस्था के विभिन्न स्तरों पर पनप रहा भ्रष्टाचार दिखाई देता है।
उन्होंने आगे कहा कि यह संकट संवैधानिक नैतिकता के क्षरण का भी संकेत है। मायावती ने स्मरण कराया कि संविधान निर्माता डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर ने सुशासन के लिए संवैधानिक मूल्यों और नैतिकता को सर्वोच्च महत्व दिया था।
उनके अनुसार, इन्हीं सिद्धांतों की अनदेखी देश की संस्थागत व्यवस्था को धीरे-धीरे कमजोर कर रही है।
अपने वक्तव्य के अंत में मायावती ने कहा कि वर्तमान राष्ट्रीय परिस्थिति को देखते हुए सरकार और न्यायपालिका सहित सभी संवैधानिक संस्थाओं को अपनी-अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का सक्रियता से निर्वहन करना चाहिए।
उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि समन्वित और संवेदनशील पहल से देशहित तथा जनहित में इस गंभीर संकट का समाधान निकाला जा सकता है।
